She bought them when she was living in Germany because they were cheap. She thought it was dumb luck that they had held out this long. Then a foodie friend of hers stopped by and got all excited about her knives. Turns out they're Wusthof - and that is fancy! For the last 24 1/2 years the knives have been relegated to the dishwasher. For the last six months they've been handwashed. :) My boyfriend’s mother has had her set of knives for 25 years.
