In Love With Love

Did you know I am completely, ridiculously, madly in love with my husband? I like him better than I like all of you combined. And I like all of you a whole lot.

This is one of the flowers he sent me last year for valentines day. This year I told him I never want him to give me flowers right around valentines day for the rest of our lives. I hope he realizes that doesn’t mean I never want flowers. I want “Happy Tuesday” flowers, and “good job cleaning the kitchen” flowers, and “just because I like you” flowers.

This year I don’t want any flowers, I just want him.

No amount of coffee, no amount of crying
No amount of whiskey, no amount of wine
No, nothing else will do
I’ve gotta have you, I’ve gotta have you.

Gotta Have You, The Weepies

Actually I don’t ever have any amount of coffee, whiskey, or wine. So those definitely won’t do. The flowers won’t do either this year. I gotta have you TH.

  1. That’s so sweet, I like the lyrics too.

Our first val day together I tried to convince my husband that I really didn’t want anything or that he had to get me anything.

It wasn’t easy going, it’s amazing how many people are quick to say oh that’s got to be a trap you better do twice as much. Especially from his family, he kept getting advice to get me outlandish things like jewelry.

Luckily he listened to me and I was so happy for it. It also showed me that he listens to me and not to what society thinks I should be.

  2. I LOVE The Weepies – I saw them live here and wow. And I totally know what you mean about “great job cleaning the kitchen” flowers. Haha.

  3. We talked about it a while back and decided not to do anything special (as in purchased). Our goal was to spend the day together, make a nice meal at home, go on a hike…
Well yesterday he surprised me at home with a big bouquet of flowers… I was so surprised I didn’t even recognized him when he walked through the door, thinking the flowers were for my colleague…
But I loved it, and he had his perfume on, an other little attention. So sweet.

Today I have a job interview in the afternoon and it’s a rainy day anyway so we won’t do too much. But we’re making a yummy brunch and we’ll have a yummy dinner too and just enjoy being together. It really is the best thing about love. It’s not the presents or anything it’s just the quality time you get as a couple.

  4. Aw, you’re so romantic.

Nate bought me some lilies, longer lasting and more fragrant than roses, but like you I’d rather have any-old-day flowers over Valentine’s flowers, no question.
