The day is finally here. Sometime after midnight I turned 24 years old, and I plan on waking up with a smile on my face because I love my birthday! (Even if I am waking up completely alone since TH is out of town. But it’s a happy day, so no dwelling on such sad things.)
The best way to make all of you love my birthday as much as I do is to give one of you a special little That Wife birthday treat!
First, let’s take a look at the treat I came up with.
Pretties!
A necklace/earring set by Calla Lily Jewelry! Oh my. I really should keep this set for myself, since I am always digging through my jewelry box saying “Why don’t I have any brown pieces?” But sacrifice is good for the soul, so I’m going to send it off to live with one of you.
I’ve thought really carefully about the criteria I want to impose for those who enter, and I think I’ve come up with something really great. You can have your name entered into the drawing up to three times by doing any of the following things:
1. Leave a comment below with a link to something you saw recently online that you think I might like. Think of it as a little birthday link for me. It could be something that made you laugh, something that made you smile, something you think I should add to my Wishpot list, etc. No link means no entry, so don’t go commenting without the goodies attached!
2. Write about this contest on your own blog, and come back to this post and leave a comment with the link to what you wrote.
3. Write a post about my photography blog Jenna Cole, then come back to this post and leave a comment with the link to what you wrote. (Note that the post about the contest, and the post about my photography blog must be two completely separate posts to count as an entry!)
Contest ends Saturday night at 11:59 pm.
On Monday morning I’ll be taking all of your entries, putting them in a spreadsheet, and using a random number generator to pick the winner.
Note: Because I am poor (spent all my money on the equipment I used to take the pretty photos in this post), international entries are excluded unless you would like to chip in for shipping.
Happy Wednesday to you, and Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday! In honor of your birthday, I’m sending you a link to Lady M Confections. Her mille crepe cake was in MSW Spring issue. The picture from MSW is a lot prettier, so I’m going to add that too.

I’m not entering the contest either, both due to my Canadian-ness and the fact that I don’t wear jewelery enough to take something so pretty away from somebody who would wear it all the time, but I was thinking this morning that you would probably like this site so this is fate! http://www.zooborns.com/zooborns/ They track baby animals born in zoos around the world. For another birthday smile, this just made my whole day – this woman made a little smiley robot and set it loose in the park, trusting on random people to help it achieve it’s destination – it kind of has to be seen to understood but you won’t be able to stop smiling. http://www.tweenbots.com/

I don’t want to be entered to win the necklace – I don’t think I’d wear it enough, so someone might as well get good use out of it.
Something interesting … well, I’m a nerd, I read the news every day (usually from cbc.ca). If I get one of those weird urban-legend emails, I look it up (usually with snopes.com). If I want to learn more about something, I like the National Geographic website.
I’m not sure if you’ll find it interesting, but at leas tNational Geographic has great pictures!

Hey Jenna! So this is Bethany Weed from your ward. Ok, so here’s my story. As I was perusing various blogs, I kept finding people who said that they got their pictures taken by “That Wife” and they kept alluding to the fact that “That Wife” was in their ward. I couldn’t, for the longest time, figure out who “That Wife” was, but now I have! Hello, That Wife!
Happy Birthday!
I’m not so much trying to enter your contest (since I recognize that we don’t know each other well enough for you to feel good about giving me items-I recently had a give-away on my blog also, and BUCKETS of people who I don’t even KNOW entered, which was a little weird to me. Anyway…) So, what I really wanted to say is that you have fabulous taste in jewelry. In fact, I remember one specific necklace I’ve seen you wear (one that has a single coral rose on it-spectacular!) and I’ve been considering how I might be able to recreate it ever since. Because I make jewelry. So that’s what I offer you to look at on your birthday, because I love to do custom stuff also… anyway, check it out if you’re interested…
http://www.weedsbeads.blogspot.com
And if you go to my regular blog from there, I just want you to know that usually I’m more amusing on that blog than what is up there right now. Since baby, my brain hasn’t been functioning at it’s fullest capacity.
Anyway, if you’re ever interested in some custom pieces, you let me know!
(And I don’t know if it’s rude to even imagine such a thing, but if you DID like anything, perhaps we could trade services…? Because fairly soon, I’m going to need some pics of my cute kiddos.
PS, I’m so totally not offended if you’re not into such an idea. I just thought I’d toss it out there. I won’t bring it up again, lest you feel awkward saying no thanks.
Happy Birthday again!

Happy Birthday! I love birthdays; just love them! Right now I’m cleaning and baking an apple pie for my husband because today is his birthday and he is on a work trip but coming home very late tonight. And since it is never too late for apple pie and champagne, we will celebrate as soon as he gets home from the airport. Birthdays are wonderful! My mother always has made our birthdays wonderful. First, when we would wake up, she’d have spelled our age using donuts – delicious, wonderful donuts (not cheap ones!). Then we would get our “morning presents” which was usually something to wear to school. That night we could go out to dinner anywhere, but then we’d go home after dinner and open presents and there would be balloons – sigh, I love birthdays! Okay, a link that I thought you’d like. Lately I’ve been sunk into a new blog called The Happiness Project. I discovered the blog from my other favorite blog Simply Stated by Real Simple. Anyways, the Happiness Project reminded me of you because you are very deliberate and conscientious in your words and your actions – with the intent of having a wonderful (happy) life for you and your family (at least that’s how I think you are). And The Happiness Project is a deliberate and conscientious look at the ways people try to increase or maintain their happiness and what works and what doesn’t. I really enjoy it, and I love her tag line, “The days are long, but the years are short.” http://www.happiness-project.com/happiness_project/
