That Wife: She passed on to me an extroverted personality, a moral compass, and the knowledge that department store makeup is the only way to go.
Kristen: Always supporting me – literally, as an infant…emotionally, as an adult.

Ellie: This is a picture I took of my mom almost exactly a year ago – it’s my mom and my sister at the hair salon on my sister’s wedding day. The stylist who had done my sister’s hair trial the week before quit the day before her wedding and nobody called us to say that they would be shorthanded or that nobody who was qualified was there that day. They were squeezing us in wherever they could around other clients, so even though my mom wasn’t supposed to meet us at the salon until later, I called her and asked her to get there right away so we could make sure that she got her hair done and because my sister needed the pictures from the trial the week before. My mom, who is usually not very together and doesn’t usually have her stuff in order, immediately came right over to the salon to sit with my sister and talk to her while she was having her hair set. By the end of it, we were all upset and running about 2 hours behind schedule by the end of it. My mom went home to get dressed while I got my hair done (I was last) and then came back to pick me up and I was in tears because everything was going wrong and I felt terrible that my sister was so upset and I was sooooo late and everything was just falling apart. My mom managed to calm me down and was awesome. I love my mom because she is always there for both of us when we need her.

Brandy: My mom is amazing. Even if she wasn’t my mom, I would go out of my way to be friends with her. She has so much love, so much happiness, and is just everything to me.

Shilo: This is my mom, Marylee. I know this photo is not fancy, and she in her pajamas. This was taken in February, when my mom came to NY to visit me after her mom’s funeral. This visit brought us so close, and I am so thankful for those few days. Seeing her in her pajamas, on my couch, smiling, and lighting up my house with her always-happy personality, was one of the most amazing experiences I have had. Because of that time, this picture is very special to me.

Ms Snowflake: My mom is amazing because she has never stopped telling me to do whatever makes me happy.

Meghan: My mom is so many things I aim to be as a wife and future mother because she has so many of the qualities I’d like to have. In so many ways, she’s more kind, more generous, more spirited, more patient, more hard working….she’s a better scrap-booker, a better photographer, she makes hand painted porcelain dolls and cooks Thanksgiving turkey better…she stays up late and needs less sleep, she argues less and listens more….basically, she can do it all – but does it all while being incredibly humble and never boastful.

Karin: Here is my favorite picture of my mom and I taken a year ago on my wedding day. Right before this picture was taken, I gave her a bracelet as a thank you for all that she did in helping with our wedding. We were having a quick moment of happy tears and excitement before heading off to the ceremony!! My mom means the world to me in large part because of how selfless she is. She truly does put everyone else first!

Mary: I love that my mom is one of my closest friends and confidantes, and that we still had regular snuggles throughout high school; I’m sure she’d still willingly snuggle now if I asked.

Amanda: The pictures are old (some 30+years old!) pictures of my mom that I scanned. My mom passed away in 1994 of cancer at age 37. I was 13. I found these pictures about 5 years ago and wept with joy. It’s funny, I didn’t think of my mother as ever being this young and vibrant woman until recently. She was, however, and now that is how I like to think of her: joyful, carefree and full of life. mid 1970s; no date or location provided; this is my favorite picture of my mom that I’ve ever seen.

Michelle: This is my mom. One thing that I’ve always appreciated about her was how she would always listen to me, attempt to understand my point of view, and often support me, even when she did not agree with me. It always meant a lot to me

Gwen: It would be nearly impossible to choose the one thing I love most about my mom. She is my best friend. I am just like her in so many ways, but she also encouraged me to be my own strong, independent woman all my own too. So to make it easy – I love my mom’s passion. For life, for family, for fun, it all shines through her vibrant smile. In the past two years my mom (and dad) have certainly been tested as parents. They truly would do anything for my brother and I. Their love is a true gift and I am so proud to be their daughter.

Mom, you are irreplaceable
Even though our past
You are just irreplaceable
Isn’t that amazing?
The most amazing thing about you is that you have overcome our past
Everything you and I went through
It wasn’t small
And yet, we overcame
We overcame because of Love
We overcame because at a very important time in my life
you let go of me
I needed you to
and you knew
I can only imagine how hard that must have been
a mom letting go of her child
Impossible and yet you knew
You knew it would save our future
And here we are
mother – daughter
Crying, laughing, cheering one another on, good talks, intimacy, doing fun stuff together
And now, now you are irreplaceable
And I, I love YOU
