Just up the street a little bit (this time, in one year we expect we’ll be making the same announcement concerning a much farther location), but it’s still exciting. The apartment we’re moving to is closer to TH’s work, has an attached garage, more square footage, and much more light than we have now. All for just a little bit more than we are paying right now.
Here is our floorplan. I can’t say enough how much I love the open spaces of the living/dining room kitchen.
I’m most excited about the idea of painting (I’m working on convincing TH that it’s a good idea) and the extra storage space that this apartment has. I’ve already claimed one of the closets as my official photography closet, which will allow me to safely pack all of my expensive equipment away, instead of leaving it strewn about the office.
I pulled some pictures from the complexes website, but I’m going to need you to imagine these layouts looking much less stylish than they do now. Because interior design is not my strong point.
Our bedroom is laid out just like this, and the bathroom has the same tile you see pictured here. The closet is longer and deeper than the one we have now, and I’m thinking about painting the walls a very soft yellow.

The kitchen was the big selling point to me. Ours has a wall where you see the table and chairs, but I love the island layout with the thing for hanging your pans above. The kitchen will have so much light!

We’ll have a real porch that we can sit out on and eat dinner goether, instead of the awful brick walled space we have right now. I’m finally going to use up those Lowes/Home Depot gift cards we got from the wedding and invest in a table and some chairs for outside. The fireplace will be on the right, I think, and the windows are MUCH bigger than the one you see here. Love big windows! I’d like to paint the wall with the fireplace a deep dark red.

There is a pool (all complexes above a certain price point in TX have a pool) and I’ve promised myself I’m going to be utilizing this awesome fitness center as well!

They don’t have pictures of one of the coolest amenities, a theater style room available for free on a first-come first-serve basis. It has a huge screen with cushy seats, and we’re hoping it isn’t very popular so we can pop some popcorn and get the big screen experience for free every once in awhile.
We can move in beginning August 26th, so I should have some fun before and after pictures to show you around that time.

I have to admit that I am terribly jealous of your new floor plan! It looks great! I’m kind of looking forward to moving out of our condo, but that won’t happen until I’m working for good. Good luck with your move!

Texas does have very nice apartment complexes. I’m excited about our upcoming move too – fun to reconfigure all your furniture and belongings in a new place.

I’m totally excited! I so badly want a space like that! It’s lovely. And I looove kitchens with islands…so much better than looking at a wall while you chop and stir.
Actually my requirement for a kitchen is that I can see the tv from the sink and the chopping-board area. I like to watch movie commentaries and concerts while I wash dishes and cook.
I don’t think I could live in an apartment complex, though – I would be certain to get the crappy loud neighbours. And I wouldn’t be able to play showtunes loudly because then I’D be the crappy loud neighbour!

Very lovely apartment. Congrats.
After being in the painting hell for the past five days you may want to rethink it, he he he.

As a veteran of deep dark red walls, I cannot stress enough how much you should start with a coloured primer. We didn’t, and after 6 coats it was still uneven.

) B/c there is nothing that nice in our price range here in Philadelphia. Boo!
Very excited for you!

Do most apartment complexes not have pools? I’ve only ever lived in apartments in Texas since I’ve been here since I’ve been old enough to. I always just took that amenity for granted!
I love your kitchen- I need a lot of light too. I’m moving into a less than 500 sq ft efficiency, but it has a big separate kitchen with a floor to ceiling window. It’s a bigger kitchen, and more light, than my current two bed/two bath apartment.
Happy moving!

I LovE the kitchen! You will love it and I will be jealous every time you take pictures. That gym is awesome too. Proximity is important (at least to me) to help me not make excuses and what not, so I hope you love it!
I love your new apartment so much I would totally volunteer to help you pack and move in if I lived in driving distance!

Have you been going to http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ ?
I have been SALIVATING at all the possibilities lately!
) Isn’t that the best feeling? Making your home life more homier? (I know this last statement wasn’t nearly grammatically correct, but so what- you get the point! I hope….)

Oh wow, Jenna! It is gor-ge-ous! I am so jealous of the amazing rentals available in the US, Mr. J and I would have to move to the outskirts of Sydney, AU to get anything approaching this within our price-range. I am sure you will do a fantastic job making it a home for you, S and future-bub.

Congrats! Moving is soo exciting. I love the idea of the soft yellow walls. My husband and I painted our entire condo last year, and we chose a soft yellow for our living spaces. It was HARD to find a nice shade, so I thought I would recommended what we ended up using. We used Sherwin Williams Jersey Cream. Not technically a true yellow, but all the yellows we tried were far too harsh. It looks lovely in sun or share. I hope that helps!
