As the weather finally cools down here in Dallas I’m giving thanks for the relief, but as I uploaded these photos from my point-and-shoot (when you have two cameras sometimes photos get “lost” on one) I couldn’t help missing Summer a bit.
My parents own a boat, have owned one as long as I can remember, and 2 days before my sister’s wedding in July this year we decided to take it out for my one and only chance to tube and wakeboard for that Summer.
We didn’t get off to the best start, as we backed the boat into the water and then realized it wouldn’t start. My cousin had to drag us back in so we could jump start it. Using jumper cables over water is very scary, FYI.
At one point I was using this oar to try and steer us away from certain death and despair (okay, maybe it was just a bunch of rocks) to the side. I’m not sure my weak little arms made much of a difference.
That Mom and That Sister looking fresh and fabulous.
I volunteered to jump in the water first and give wakeboarding a try. It has been a year, maybe two, since I had last gone (and I was never very good in the first place) so I had no idea how things would work out.
Hello cold water!
The boat started… and I got up! On the first try! That’s why I look so shocked, I wasn’t expecting it.
I didn’t do anything cool. Just stayed up for about 2 minutes and then fell down and never got up again.
Cousin Colten went next and showed me up. BIG TIME. I swear he stands up on the board before the boat is even moving.
Mom drove, Sister took the pictures, I raised the flag. Can you see how proud I was to have such an important job?
Sisters. One married, one single. (For the last time ever!)
I’m looking forward to the holidays and the cooler weather that accompany them, but looking through these photos has me missing not only my family (hi family, love you!) but the exciting activities that summer brings.
Here’s to looking forward to the State Fair, caramel apples, sleeping with the window open, Halloween, time with family over the holidays,

I miss summer and boating and my family too, but hot apple cider, leggings and cute boots are helping a little

I’ve never been wakeboarding but when we were younger it was derigour each summer to go tubing.
Well until I took a horrible spill and something happened –we still have no idea — and I got a horrific rope burn all across my neck.
Haven’t really liked tubing ever since then, but it isn’t really summer unless I get to go boating at least once.

Ha! In Boston we’re in our last few weeks of sleeping with the window open…

I would have wakeboarded, except for the fact that I was getting married two days later and was scared I would hurt myself. Remember how I had a huge bruise on my shin from getting in the boat. Ridiculous, good thing I didn’t wakeboard or tube!

That looks like so much fun! I’ve never done water sports like that, only tubing.
This is making me miss summer too!
