This weekend is bound to be a good one, not only because my parents are coming for 3 days, but also because it’s the annual Carrollton Community Nativity Exhibition. I posted about it last year, were you reading back then?
I dressed as Mary with goth nails.

TH was Joseph and we did our best not to giggle the way through the hour.

The exhibit is filled with beautiful nativities from all over the world and I’m so excited to tour through once again with my parents this year. (This time with a fancy camera as well so expect a big long recap post with lots of photos!) I’m a slacker so we won’t have either of our Polish nativities on display with all the others. Boo to me and my procrastination.

If you are in the Dallas area and looking for a free activity I can’t recommend this display enough! If you have time to go on Saturday evening and you contact me (thatwife at gmail dot come) I’ll even let you know we’re planning on showing up and maybe we will see each other there! That Mom, That Dad, That Husband and myself will all be there together and my mom and I will likely be walking around with cameras in hand the entire time so we’ll be easy to spot. I’ll even let you touch my belly and say hi to the baby.
What free activities are you attending this holiday season?

Too fun!!! Ok, they may not being on display, but now I’m intrigued as to what a Polish nativity scene looks like! Please post about ‘em!! (ok.. backing away from the exclamation point…)

We are very lucky because in Asheville they have the National Gingerbread House competition’s entries displayed every year at the Grove Park Inn.
There are many entries from the fancy ones of the adults to the super cute ones of kids.

We went last year, the whole resort (it’s huge) is decorated and it’s really fun. You can go for free form Monday-Thursday.

I’ve totally been there! I grew up in Brevard and I remember visiting it with my family when I was a kid.

You grew up in Brevard? That is so funny. I always thought you were from the West Cost.
I ended up going there today with my MIL being in town. We both had a blast.
I plan on going back soon with my husband though.

I moved to San Francisco when I was 16 and I like it better, so that’s what I claim
.

Ah ah, I can understand it. While I love Asheville, SF is definitely a more interesting claim than Brevard, not to mention the fact that at least people know where to put that one on the map.

How neat! I’d love to be able to go to it! We’re going to Temple Square on Saturday to see the lights. That’s our favorite free Christmas activity!

That is really neat!
My free activity time (haha) is used up with study for finals and finishing my design report! Once I’m free on the 21st, maybe I’ll go out and look at the Christmas light displays in a town north of where I live… Or drive around town and look at lights!

What a neat display!
Personally, I’m in charge of planning the free activities – my kids are singing at a live nativity, performing a concert, and my K-2 students have a Christmas program. All within 4 days. Maybe when that’s over I can think about attending something myself!

I love nativities! Stephen (my husband) brought his mother an incredible creche from France where he served his mission. I am hoping someday we acquire a similar one.
