While brainstorming these giveaway items I wanted to offer the highest number of items possible, but eventually I started to run out of money. What could I give that might be of value to someone else but wouldn’t cost a ridiculous amount? Jenna Cole Photography Print Credit! The winner of today’s giveaway will receive print credit from me worth one luster print up to 16X20 in size. This is a great giveaway for past (or future!) clients, but there might be some of you interested in entering to win credit to put toward an image that falls under the “miscellaneous” category. Over the past few months I’ve been working to build up a portfolio of random images, mostly for use on That Wife to spice up my posts, but also for future projects I have in mind (and have yet to dream up!).
Examples of some of my miscellaneous images can be found here and include:
Some winter berries…

Graffiti that makes me smile…

A darling little dress form…

A quirky cow…

Hope for Spring in the middle of winter…

And my version of “Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening”…

As I said, I’ve only been collecting images like these for a few months now, so the collection will grow over time. If you don’t see something you like right now, the credit is good through the end of 2010 and you’re free to hold onto it until you see something you like. Enter to win one luster print up to 16X20 in size by answering the question below in the comment section:
Who is your favorite photographer?
Comments close at 11:59 pm on 2/26/2010, and the winner will be announced on Saturday. Entries that don’t answer the question will be deleted because I like when people follow directions. ![]()
Edited at 2:00 pm to add: The response to this giveaway has been a little bigger than I anticipated (or maybe I didn’t realize so many people would like to have a print that I created hanging in their house, which is truly flattering!) and I’m starting to get nervous that I didn’t make it clear that the photo printed will need to be one taken by me. It would be no bueno for me to use my printing lab to print images taken by another professional photographer, as I certainly wouldn’t want my own clients doing that with my work!

February 26th, 2010 on 8:39 am
Granted I haven’t had a photo taken of me by any professional photographer since I was in high school – yes those dreaded yearbook picutres.
I am very luck to have an Aunt and Uncle who are photographers. Do they count? They really only do family gatherings! My aunt did go to college for photography!
In the blog world I am smitten with HRM Photography in Toronto area.
February 26th, 2010 on 8:39 am
I am SOOO sad that I missed all of your other giveaways
. BUt this one probably excites me the most, I’d love to be a future client Jenna, I am such a fan. My favorite photographer would probably be Elizabeth Taylor Frandsen. I met her right when she got started and I have loved watching her photography evolving to the beautiful work that she produces today.
February 26th, 2010 on 8:40 am
well I don’t really know many photographers, so I’m going to have to say you!
February 26th, 2010 on 8:43 am
My current favorite photgrapher is the one who did my best friend’s wedding– Josh Malahy (jmalahyblog.com)
I think his pictures are gorgeous and he was so nice!
February 26th, 2010 on 8:44 am
I’m going to have to go the art museum route and say– Jeff Wall.
Beautiful photos.
February 26th, 2010 on 8:45 am
Kiersten Rowland is our photographer and I love her ability to capture emotions, and also her ability to take both great portraits and fantastic landscape/still life/nature photography.
February 26th, 2010 on 8:45 am
This isn’t a fair question for me since my best friend is a photographer (Whatever the Weather Photography) and naturally she’s my favorite because I’m so comfortable in front of the camera while she’s behind it and I get so many opportunities to “work” with her just because we’re around each other enough…
But I love most photographers whose work doesn’t look too processed. Rebekah Westover is one example, her work just pops in my mind. I adore Amelia Lyon too but her stuff is overly processed in my opinion. It’s just a preference thing.
February 26th, 2010 on 8:51 am
Great prize today! I’m a big fan of Rouxby Fine Art Photography – Claire’s dog photo always make me smile.
February 26th, 2010 on 8:54 am
Besides Jenna Cole?
Jasmine Star
February 26th, 2010 on 8:55 am
i find ansel adams to be inspiring!
February 26th, 2010 on 8:59 am
For landscapes, I really love Ansel Adams.
But I also really love Cindy Sherman for her thought-provoking series (particularly of women and how they are percieved).
I also really love the Sartorialist’s street fashion shots. He makes people look so cool!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:00 am
Locally I love Rob Witzel. In addition to a bit of wedding photography, he does a lot of sports photography and always get some amazing shots of my Florida Gators.
February 26th, 2010 on 9:01 am
I’m in love with Gilles Bensimon. At a time when it’s still “high fashion” for models/subjects to look pissed off and slightly cracked out, his portraits are so often happy. Even if they aren’t light and airy, there’s no sense of anger or bitterness… something I really can’t stand in the fashion industry. Since when does it sell clothes to have your models look like they’re in pain?
Yes yes, he’s my favorite fashion photographer right now.
February 26th, 2010 on 9:03 am
My favorite photographer is a local guy named Larry Kanfer. He has done a lot of “prairiescapes” of the midwest and it’s neat to see the place I call home be photographed so beautifully.
http://www.kanfer.com/
February 26th, 2010 on 9:05 am
thanks again, Jenna — the awesome giveaways are so fun to enter. hmm… my favorite photographer? I gotta say I like your work!!! Keep us updated on your travel schedule — I’d love to hire you someday!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:06 am
and I agree with another commenter that Cindy Sherman produces great images!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:15 am
This is the easiest question of all your contests yet! I know this fabulous photographer who has taken some of my most favorite pictures of my husband and I (our engagement pictures AND wedding pictures) — *Jenna Cole*
February 26th, 2010 on 9:17 am
I love Ansel Adams, I think his shots are amazing!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:18 am
Great idea! I would love to be a client of yours if you ever come up to Chicago for a visit, but for now I’ll recommend the guy that did our engagement shots in the city: Thomas Slack. He has lovely photos, angles and put us right at ease for our first professional photo shoot together.
http://www.slackphotography.com
February 26th, 2010 on 9:18 am
My favorite photographer of the moment is Max Wanger. I fell in love with him after seeing his work on A Cup of Jo’s blog, and am dying to buy one of his prints!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:24 am
How fun!! Its hard to say that I have a “favorite” photographer, but during my wedding planning, I kept turning to Erik Clausen(http://www.beaposer.com/), who is also in Dallas. I don’t know enough to know if I love his photography or his editing style, though.
February 26th, 2010 on 9:24 am
I absolutely drooled over the Tran’s when I was wedding planning. They were nowhere near what my budget was but I drool over their work!
http://www.studiotran.com/
February 26th, 2010 on 9:32 am
I guess he’s not a “real” photographer, but my sister’s boyfriend takes fantastic photos, and he’s the only one I know personally, so he’s my favorite!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:33 am
I have always been drawn to Dorothea Lange. She was such an amazing, independent woman who really captured America, not to mention my personal connection to her photographs of the Oklahoma migrants during the Great Depression. Here’s a Google search
February 26th, 2010 on 9:37 am
My favorite photographer is a gal named Michelle Waters from Parkersburg, WV. When she meets her clients, they instantly become friends. She finds out as much as she can about her clients so that their photographs display their true selves. I could look at her website for hours!!! (Guilty….) You are also a WONDERFUL photographer!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:38 am
I would have to say Punam Bean. I am so impressed by her.
I also wanted you to know that I love that graffiti pic of yours! Your work is really coming along well and I look forward to see more from you.
February 26th, 2010 on 9:39 am
Ansel Adams. Absolutely love his work!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:41 am
Leah Stafford. She’s based in Ohio, but gets to travel all over for destination weddings. She is also awesome at boudoir pics. She did mine before my wedding!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:42 am
If I say you do I get extra points?? I actually have a few favorites: my grandfather, who was a professional photographer in Maine when I was growing up; the wonderful Sam Warren of Samantha Warren Weddings (also in Maine); and you!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:45 am
Ansel Adams
Current faves? You, of course. And Jonathan Canlas.
February 26th, 2010 on 9:46 am
Duh, Kelli Nicole! http://www.kellinicolephotography.com/
February 26th, 2010 on 9:50 am
Hmm… I don’t know if I have a favorite photographer. Since I tend to email you for all of my photo needs (check your inbox – I want to mail you some things to photograph for me), maybe it is you?! We recently bought a photograph from the Tulip Festival in Skagit Valley – but I can’t remember the artist’s name. It was our first big art purchase!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:51 am
Jasmine Star. Her images are always so crisp and clean, and she seems to have such a great personality!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:54 am
My favorite photographer is my wedding photographer, Gail Fleming. I would love to have a piece of your work!
February 26th, 2010 on 9:59 am
My favourite photographer is M & L Fotographics! But I may be a bit biased…
February 26th, 2010 on 10:03 am
Oh Jenna, this is the best giveaway yet!! Other than you, of course, my favorite is Heather Essian. Her portraits are just lovely.
February 26th, 2010 on 10:12 am
I loved our wedding photographer, Kirsten White in Toronto who not only charged us next to nothing (she’s building her portfolio) but stayed later than planned AND had her boyfriend come along as a second shooter which we hadn’t realized was going
to happen.
I also love your work. It’s the reason I followed you here from Weddingbee.
February 26th, 2010 on 10:14 am
Right now it’d probably be Jasmine Star. Her pictures are always fresh and bright and so full of life.
February 26th, 2010 on 10:14 am
This woud be perfect if you ever do make it to LA – or I could get one of your great misc. pictures.
Well…not terribly familiar with the photography world. I remember looking at bazillion wedding photography sites way back in 2003 and I remember thinking Kenneth Linge was great. But so is the Busath team of photographers (they do a lot of the church leader photography in Utah).
Of course, I really loved my neighbors fantastic pictures (she was my biggest push/coach into getting my Nikon dSLR). And…you of course! I love your pictures!
February 26th, 2010 on 10:18 am
I would have to say Annie Liebovitz. I think the emotion she conveys through her photography is amazing, and she’s never afraid of starting a controversy; she lets her art speak for itself.
I adore that cow photo – my boyfriend’s family has a farm and my grandpa had one when I was growing up so cows are near and dear to my heart : )
February 26th, 2010 on 10:21 am
My photog for my wedding of course! He was/is an amazing artist, and an all around awesome guy. We still talk to this day- 7 months after our wedding
February 26th, 2010 on 10:32 am
My favorite photographer is Charlotte Geary. Her images are stunning and she loves to answer questions and help other photographers out. http://www.charlottegeary.com
Love these giveaways!
February 26th, 2010 on 10:37 am
Robert Mapplethorpe.
February 26th, 2010 on 10:39 am
Here is my favorite local (to Pittsburgh) photographer: http://weddingsbyheather.com If we could have afforded her, she would have photographed our wedding!
February 26th, 2010 on 10:40 am
Ansel Adams by far! His work in the Yosemite Valley stops me in my tracks and gives me goosebumps every time I see it! So breathtakingly beautiful!
February 26th, 2010 on 10:43 am
Annie Leibovitz! But fave wedding photogs would have to be Max Wanger and Jordana Hazel! Both amaze me!
February 26th, 2010 on 10:51 am
I love the photographer who did my cousins wedding – ambrosio photography in S Florida. However, someone I do NOT love was my wedding photographer. Jenna, I wrote to you about this one. I realize the importance of researching and choosing the right person even though they did not do a BAD job, it was nothing like I anticipated. So now I see wedding photos and sigh. Regardless, another one i like is Anne Geddess.
February 26th, 2010 on 11:03 am
Does it have to be someone famous or just a photographer who’s given us the most pictures we love? I love the work of Ansel Adams but I think my most favorite pictures of my younger siblings are ones my mom took. She used to be really into photography and had a whole studio set-up in our house and would take us out to my grandparents for pictures a couple times a year. Some of my favorite pictures ever are from that time.
February 26th, 2010 on 11:04 am
My brother is my favorite non professional photographer. He has such natural talent. My favorite local photographer is Kelli Nicole. And I love your work as well!
February 26th, 2010 on 11:07 am
It’s always hard for me to pick favorites, but if we’re talking about wedding photographers I am a pretty big fan of my wedding photographer’s work – Ryan Brenizer. I also think your photos are pretty great, and I would love to be the owner of one of your prints.
February 26th, 2010 on 11:08 am
my fav photographer for now is Tec Petaja.
and I would love to be a client of yours.
But if that never happens, I would settle for that adorable whale print on my office wall
February 26th, 2010 on 11:13 am
NWR favorite photography is Peter Lik! Could just stare at those for hours….
February 26th, 2010 on 11:13 am
Arturo Sosa! Just out of patriotism… haha, he is the best photographer in Honduras!
February 26th, 2010 on 11:15 am
That’s easy! YOU
I would love to have one of our awesome wedding pictures printed for our house
February 26th, 2010 on 11:16 am

Apart from your work , I look at Allison Davis , Perez Photo blogs because they are based Dallas and I kinda like it when I can recognize the place .
February 26th, 2010 on 11:18 am
The only photographers I ever discovered were during my hunt for a wedding photographer.
I would have to say I love Jeremy Lawson (http://www.jeremylawsonphotography.com/) and definately my wedding photographer Anna Guziak (http://annaguziak.com/myblog/).
February 26th, 2010 on 11:30 am
http://www.laurabeals.com
no question.
February 26th, 2010 on 11:31 am
i’m a sucker for dog photos, so my favorite photographer is william wegman. his use of a 1978 20×24 Polaroid camera gives him an edge with me.
February 26th, 2010 on 11:44 am
mmmm I like a lot of modern photographers but I do really like the simplicity and beauty of Ansel Adams, especially since he’s captured so many places I really love.
February 26th, 2010 on 11:49 am
By the way, I really like the quirky cow!
February 26th, 2010 on 11:54 am
My favorite is probably my best friend because she’s the coolest.
But my fave pros are: Tec Peteja, Jose Villa, and as of late ashley ann photography. Also, you’re not so bad yourself!
February 26th, 2010 on 11:55 am
I love Kelly Moore….she shot Blue Eyed Bride’s wedding and those are some of my favorite images (which Erin knows!). I’m hoping my wedding photographer, Kurt Gerber of Gerber & Scarpelli, will do a great job for us!
February 26th, 2010 on 12:08 pm
I have two favorite photogs. One is our wedding photographer (cadencecornelius.com) because she did an awesome job but is also super nice and is now our friend. and the other is my best friend’s mom who was the unofficial photographer for pretty much every single event in our lives. But also I want to win this because I am now obsessed with your picture of the graffiti with the whale on the green wall. i love it!!!!!!
February 26th, 2010 on 12:42 pm
I’m borrowing this one from my husband, but we really love Berenice Abbott, she did some awesome photos of NYC that Huz has prints of and I love them!
On a side note…you were fab to work with
February 26th, 2010 on 12:43 pm
It’s difficult to nail down a single favorite photographer, but Richard Avedon’s iconic portraiture has always held a special place in my heart. The American West series of images captivated me when it came through Fort Worth when I was in High School. I’d definitely say it was influential in my becoming more interested in photography as an artistic medium.
February 26th, 2010 on 12:52 pm
I would have to say that our wedding photogs are my favorite. http://www.beyondthewell.com/weddings/index.html
I love your pictures Jenna! Especially the last one you posted above..the snowy little nook. Gorgeous!!!
February 26th, 2010 on 12:57 pm
I would have to say our wedding photogs. Beyond the well photography. Love their photojournalism style of photography.
p.s. I LOVE the last picture you posted above!!
February 26th, 2010 on 12:59 pm
SORRY–Just wanted to let you know that I didn’t mean to post twice!!! my computer was acting wonky and I didn’t think it took it. OOPS!! Now I’ve posted 3 times, I’m going to shut up now. Disregard 2 of these.
February 26th, 2010 on 1:11 pm
Tom Scott
He took our engagement pics, our reception pics, and Addie’s 3 month pics. I’ve talked with him about doing a family session the next time I make it to Virginia Beach.
He was my single’s branch president (before getting married) and my boss before I had Addie. I think I love his work because it’s good and because I simply love him so much! =)
February 26th, 2010 on 1:20 pm
I’ve recently become quite obsessed with going through old Henri Cartier-Bresson photos, so I’d have to say him! If I’m thinking about current photographers, I’d have to say…. I really like Anna Kuperberg’s style.
February 26th, 2010 on 1:20 pm
I don’t know too many professional photographers, but my fiance’s dad has a talent for photography and I love his photos. He takes his camera when he goes hunting and shoots gorgeous shots of the forest etc. and also his hunting “partner”: a black lab named Ben!
February 26th, 2010 on 1:21 pm
Jose Villa, Leigh Miller, and Sarah K. Chen. And Miss Jenna, of course! SIGHHHHH.
February 26th, 2010 on 1:25 pm
My cousin, Brittany Rogers-Hanson, blrphoto.com, is my favorite! She took our wedding photos and is fantastic!
February 26th, 2010 on 1:49 pm
Hands down Annie Liebovitz!
February 26th, 2010 on 2:01 pm
You have some gorgeous photos. my favourite photog is Howard Schatz. I just lovelovelove his work
February 26th, 2010 on 2:12 pm
hum, favorite photographer? i’m not sure i have a favorite, but i have been in love with blue lilly’s work for some time now.
February 26th, 2010 on 2:22 pm
I would have to say that my favorite photographer is a tie between our wedding photographers, Starks Photography, and Lindsey of Pure Photography (who we won a free session with; in which we jumped in the cool spring waters of Florida for!). They are both incredibly amazing local Florida photographers.
I love checking Jenna Cole (umm… YOU!) weekly. Your pictures are gorgeous and inspire me to pick up a camera and shoot (but I do know, that just because I have a Nikon, it doesn’t make me a photographer. lol. But, a girl can dream!)
I would love to win a canvas of one of your MISC. images. I would hang it above my desk to give me inspiration, or to give me something beautiful to look at when I’m having a writers/design block!
February 26th, 2010 on 2:25 pm
My favorite is Jasmine Star..she’s just awesome her pictures tell a story and I love that!!
February 26th, 2010 on 2:31 pm
My personal favorite is my sister-in-law because she sends me pictures of my adorable nephews
I love art photography, but don’t know enough about it to have a real favorite.

My favorite photographer is: Jenna Cole! Our wedding photos were just so beautiful and I’d love to have a big print at home!
P.S. I tried to enter this giveaway about 2 hours ago and it kept giving me errors.. I hope this goes through this time!
February 26th, 2010 on 2:36 pm
Fun!
It’s cliche, I guess, but Ansel Adams. I also LOVE Thomas D. Mangelsen’s nature photos–so moving and inspiring. He has a gallery near where I went to college and once I went to a reception there and met him. Very gracious. My husband J and I used to go visit his gallery and decide what prints we’d be when we were rich and famous.
February 26th, 2010 on 2:42 pm
I love the work of Kristen at http://www.khollystudios.com/
She’s amazing!
February 26th, 2010 on 2:46 pm
Garrett Nudd Photography
An old friend from high school & his wife are a great team and always make you feel at home. They have been feature many, many times in photog mags. Glorious shots! And so creative.
http://www.garrettnudd.net
February 26th, 2010 on 2:57 pm
On a small scale, my favorite would be my business partner, Miss Bethany Menchaca of Paisley Day… IF I was thinking on a bigger scale, I love the work of
Kyle Barnes, Amelia Lyon, and Jason Aten
February 26th, 2010 on 3:05 pm
My gorgeous lovely MOH, Kassy Shimotsu. I wish that I could have cloned her for my wedding last year so she could be both my MOH and photographer.
http://www.kshimotsuphotography.com/
Right now her portfolio is fairly small, but she does lovely, lovely pictures.
MrsW Reply:
February 26th, 2010 at 3:11 pm
ok, disregard this for entry, but talk about amazing timing…. Kassy’s website just went live today! Go check her out if you’re in the Upper Midwest.
February 26th, 2010 on 3:10 pm
I’m going to have to go with one of my best friends, Stephanie Reinish (http://www.stephaniereinish.com/). She came through with some great shots of my wedding when my “official” photographer turned out to be a flake, she’s a blast to work with, and she takes amazing photos!
February 26th, 2010 on 3:13 pm
Punam Bean – the first photog I blog stalked!
That cow shot is too funny – I love it!
February 26th, 2010 on 3:19 pm
This may sound cliche, but I love Ansel Adams. I love that he not only shot nature and the simple beauty of the environment (similar to some of your examples) but that he genuinely cared about the environment as well.
I also think black and white is classic.
You should think about opening up a shop (either through your blog or on Etsy) and sell some of your prints. You might make a little extra money and honestly you wouldn’t be doing anything different from what you are now. You could probably set it up (financially) through Jenna Cole Photography but I don’t know the details about how that all works.
February 26th, 2010 on 3:22 pm
Definitely the graffiti! I wonder, if we’ve had a photoshoot with you, could we use one of those? That would be wonderful!
February 26th, 2010 on 3:22 pm
My favorite photographer would be Jeff Hall from Greenville, SC who did my wedding. However – I also really love A Beautiful Mess Photography out of Charlotte, NC – a husband and wife team that are just seriously talented with their craft
Like I said in another reply – I also really like coming to your site and seeing your photography and tutorials so you are among the top of my list as well
February 26th, 2010 on 3:41 pm
i don’t have a favorite but LOVE what you do. it’s one of the things that brought me to your site…i feel like in these days of digital cameras when everyone thinks they can suddenly be a photographer, you have true talent.
February 26th, 2010 on 3:53 pm
I have to admit that I don’t really have a favorite photographer, I more fall in love with certain pictures for a while… but lately I was fascinated by Punam Bean’s trips to the Rat Temple she went to so I’d have to say her, for this time
February 26th, 2010 on 4:00 pm
My favorite photographer is one of my best friend’s husband. Russ Robinson. I don’t know too many, but he is really good.
February 26th, 2010 on 4:38 pm
Ansel Adams is my all-time favorite, but I also loooved our wedding photographer, Narrative Images Photography (from San Diego).
February 26th, 2010 on 5:07 pm
The veggie chopper was the “best” giveaway?? THIS is by far the coolest of the 13.
I’m a huge fan of Debbie of Lily Rose Photography. I’d totally have her as my wedding photographer if I lived in California… and was actually getting married anytime this decade
The link if anyone is intrested:

I’m also really love the work Kat of Persimmon Images is starting to turn out. (it’s Ms. Cherry Pie of WB if anyone is a WB reader)

February 26th, 2010 on 6:19 pm
i’m a big fan of punam bean!
February 26th, 2010 on 6:35 pm
I really like margaret bourke white. I love the moments that she captured during some of our country’s roughest and exciting times. I also really love the snowy pictures you took. I went to college very nearby and the mustangs made me reminisce. That was so many worlds ago!
February 26th, 2010 on 6:41 pm
My favorite photographer … that’s so hard! For an advertising photog, I love Hunter Freeman. He’s funny, so good with kids and animals, and he shot the Pets.com puppet print ads, which is one of my faves ever.
For art (not that they are exclusive), Ansel Adams. There’s one photo he took in Taos that just stays in my head.
I love your whale graffitti photo. So amazing.
February 26th, 2010 on 6:55 pm
Ansel Adams is my favorite.
February 26th, 2010 on 6:59 pm
Punam Bean, definitely. Her photos are just amazing!
February 26th, 2010 on 7:50 pm
Alicia Bock!

February 26th, 2010 on 9:14 pm
it’s so cliche, but ansel adams. i’m a SUCKER for a great black and white.
