Someone on Formspring asked what happened to my Rome bridal photos. I had fun digging them up on my mom’s computer while I was home!
Hooray for blogcation. But HOORAY for coming back! Oh I missed you dearies (and if there are any men, dears), and although I loved my little break, I happen to love blogging even more so I’m going to come back again.
A few of you suggested turning off comments on all or some posts, at least for a little while, but I just can’t do it. Both because comments are my drug (Ke$ha says my love is her drug, but your comments are mine) and because I think that the comment section is what has some of you coming back to visit so often. I am going to be a bit more selective about what comments get approved, because I realized I don’t owe anyone anything, and if someone is going to be unnecessarily rude they certainly don’t deserve anything from me. I know there are some critics who will say that this means I am censoring anyone who doesn’t agree with me, but luckily there are people who accuse me of that all the time already, so nothing will be different to them! You’re free to disagree with me, as always, just don’t do it by saying I’m a horrible excuse for a human being. Let’s be civil kids.
I’m going to change my comment policy a bit. Along with the other criteria, I’m now going to delete all comments that include phrases like “Not to be rude, but…“, “I don’t want to tell you how to parent, but….” and anything that resembles “You’re putting yourself out there so I think you should expect comments that…“. Most of these come from one time visitors anyway, who see one post and think they know everything and decide to tell me so. Now they will have to go somewhere else and spread their nuggets of joy and wisdom around!
On my return, I’m going to take a page off the blogs of OMGMom and Cjane. Both recently wrote posts asking thing from their readers and I’m going to combine the two ideas into one. OMGMom asked her readers to introduce themselves, and CJane promised to visit the blog of anyone who commented and say hello. I’m going for a bit of an amalgamation of their posts.
Comment below and tell me a little bit more about yourself (as Mandy urged her readers to do). There are so many of you that comment on an almost daily basis, but I don’t know much more than your screen name! I would love to hear things like:
- Age
- Location
- Hometown
- Profession
- Marital status
- Children?
- Likes or dislikes
- How you found That Wife
- One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future (this is the point where I always say that I raised pigs in my front yard growing up, or that I can blow milk out of my eye, or that my husband grew up in Poland)
- Anything else you think I should know
A la CJane, if you comment below with some or all of that information, and leave your own blog address, I’ll stop by and comment on one of your posts. And my comment will be a real one, not just “Hey, you are awesome!” because I believe the only good kind of comment is a genuine one. Maybe I’ll like what I find and I’ll subscribe and say hi every once in awhile from here on out (but no guarantees on that one, I only have 24 hours in each day, and I swear T1 wants to take charge of like 20 of them). I’m hoping that this post will turn into a place where I can refer back to when I read through a particularly insightful comment and realize I want to know more about the person who left it. Did you know that sometimes I talk about you guys with TH? One of you will say something and your name and comment will be the topic of our dinner conversation that night. Now I’ll be able to be really specific when I say things like “She’s the one who said this” or “She’s the one who did that”. Super cool.
I’m not going to post again until I catch up on commenting on all of the blogs like I promised, so it might be a little bit before you see something new here, but after that expect a glut of posts. I have so many things I want to say and so many drafts that are piling up in my dashboard that I just need to get them all out in the open. I might even have to break my own rule and post a few times a day to get it done…
I’m looking forward to learning a bit more about all of you!
P.S.-You should read that post I linked to on Mandy’s blog. Isn’t she so sweet? Did you know I met her in real life. I wouldn’t be opposed to T1 declaring his love for Mia very early in life and the two of them marrying for happily ever after (he’ll have to convert her first though Mandy, I hope you won’t mind having a Mormon daughter!)

I’m glad you are back! I’ll play along, here are my stats!
I am 23 and am a proud Texas Ex still enjoying life in Austin. Am originally from somewhere a few hours north of there. Work in communications. Married for one year! No children now, but we definitely plan on having children when we are a little older and more financially secure. I love TV (but not reality TV), reading, wine and sitting around my kitchen table catching up with my dearest girlfriends. I really dislike how worked up I let myself get about other people’s issues and/or things I have no control over. I can’t remember how I found you
but I know that I found you a couple of times and didn’t subscribe (from google reader overflow already), and then found you again a couple of months ago and decided to stay
A quirky thing about me? Well, it’s recent, but it’s been on my mind. I drive an 11-year-old pick up truck with no AC and windows that won’t roll down. So you can imagine, being in Texas, that my truck is a death trap. And at the end of a 30 minute drive, I get out SOAKED in sweat. EXCEPT FOR MY ARM PITS. Because I just started using Certain Dry deodorant/antiperspirant, and let me tell you, they are not kidding around! That stuff is serious!

I’m a Texas Ex living in Austin too! Hook ‘em horns!
An old truck without AC? Poor you. At least you have discovered Certain Dri…it’s the only thing that has ever kept my arm pits dry.

What a beautiful picture… and love the “getting to know you” idea. Let’s see, I’ll just run through the questions: 24, Denver now, grew up in and around Rochester, NY. Just defended my master’s thesis a week ago so I’m currently job hunting and enjoying life. I’m not married but have a boyfriend, childless but started to have what I can only explain as biological urges for babies about a year ago. I’m resisting this urge for awhile though. I don’t even know how I found That Wife but have been back again and again to read. I added it to my Google Reader right before I went into intense thesis-writing mode (and blog hiatus) and so this is my first comment. I am fascinated with and love to learn about other religions/ cultures/ people/ food/ babies/ homes/ ideas… which is why I love blogs. Even when I might have different ideals, reading the comments and discussions (here and elsewhere) help me learn new things all the time. And an interesting fact: I’ve broken my nose 3 times! I’m excited to read through these and find “new” blogs as well.

Hey Jenna — welcome back! I’m a 21 year old college student living in Charleston, SC (you follow me on Twitter, @jlevinrector). Originally I’m from a city just north of Boston, MA. You know Salem, MA where all the witch trials happened? I live next to that! Except, I’ve never been there on Halloween
Right now I nanny to make money, but I’m hoping to open my own photography business after I graduate. I’m single with no kids, but hopefully that will change in the future! Likes include the Boston Red Sox, photography, reading, blogs, and cleaning
Dislikes include humid weather (like yours in Texas!!), running out of gas in my car and overflowing toilets. I found you through Weddingbee (which I started reading when it was still on Xanga!) and love love love your photography so I followed you over here. A quirky thing about me? My favorite food is artichokes! I want you to know that I really look up to you for your photography talent. Also, I love how honest you are. I disagree on a lot of your opinions and views, but your honestly just draws me back. I really wish and hope there are hundreds of more people like you in the world!

So glad you are back!! Can’t wait for all the catch-up posts.
Age: 26
Location: Utah…not forever though I hope!
Hometown: SW Washington
Profession: Nanny, former kindergarten teacher (hated it!)
Marital status: Happily married!
Children?: I may or may not be pregnant
Likes or dislikes: Music, the arts, shopping, traveling, anything to do with my family, friends, and mostly my husband
How you found That Wife: I found you through Facebook! We have a mutual friend and I thought I knew you (I don’t) and clicked on your name. Whenever I see a blog I always click over because I’m stalkerish like that, and I was hooked!
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I have a hideous birthmark under my chin. Little kids are usually the only ones who notice it but they ALWAYS notice it and point it out (how did you get hurt?? they ask so worriedly). Not sure that’s how I want to be remembered, but it’s ok.
Anything else you think I should know: My blog is boring, but you’re welcome to stop by. I used to be really into it a couple years ago, but my family and friends never comment so I turned into one of those bloggers who posts more like a daily log of what I did that week. I started another blog called http://ladylikeambitions.wordpress.com/ but I haven’t decided if I’m really going to go through with it. I think you should also know I LOVE your blog and admire you and I think you are better than all those stupid mean people who need to get a life.

Jenna, this is such a great idea, not only so that you can get to know your readers better, but so that we can get to know one another!
I’m 27 years old, and I live in Salt Lake City, currently, but I’m from the Midwest. I am a birth doula, I’m divorced and I don’t have children of my own yet (Sadly), but I just found out I’m going to be an aunt, and I couldn’t be happier. I don’t remember how I found That Wife, but I think I followed a link trail and found your pregnancy posts.
One quirky thing about me is that I was raised on a horse farm and knew how to ride a horse before I knew how to walk. (of course I needed help getting onto the horse!)

Welcome back! I’ll play along too, and someday if I’m looking for new blogs to read I might come check out these comments for new blog friends.
Age: 25
Location: SF Bay Area
Hometown: See above. Tried leaving once (4-year stint in college in San Diego) and didn’t like it. Love to travel, but will never live anywhere but here.
Profession: Fiction writer
Marital status: Married just over 2 years
Children? Not yet! Some days it’s all I want. Some days the thought fills me with sheer terror.
Likes or dislikes: Like: SF, photographs, applause (not for me, but when I’m in an audience and everyone applauds I almost always get teary), trashy gossip blogs, beautiful writing, food, rain. Dislike (slash hate with a burning, undying passion): airplanes, mayonnaise (gag me with a spoon), spiders.
How you found That Wife: Weddingbee
Quirky thing: Hahhaha, cute question. There are a million quirky things I could say but, frankly, none I want to be remembered by. Hm … I tend to tear up easily at things that feel like people pulling together, like applause, or when everyone gets out of the way of an ambulance (I know it’s the law, but I always like to imagine everyone thinking good thoughts together for whoever’s inside), or when a sports team wins a championship game and everyone rushes the field. That kind of thing.
Anything else you think I should know: I care deeply about faith (I’m a Christian) and social justice, and believe the two go hand-in-hand. I’m also a bleeding-heart liberal, wife of a startup employee, hapa (half-Chinese), a fiction writer, and a fiercely loyal friend/daughter/family member. Also, love reading your blog!

Likes or dislikes: I like Nikons and John Deere tractors and seriously dislike root beer floats and mosquitos.
How you found That Wife: Weddingbee
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I’ve always loved driving. Anything- the bigger the better. Working farm ground would have to be one of my all-time favorite past times. Getting my CDL is a dream of mine.
Anything else you think I should know: I’m a fellow mommy photog who is trying very hard to figure out where and how to start out with my own business. I live 20 miles from the closest grocery store and absolutely love it. I agree with so much of what you say, particularly about birth. I also struggle with my weight.

Jenna, glad to see you’re back to blogging. I missed having a new That Wife post every day! I think it’s a shame people often forget that snarky comments don’t hurt the person they’re directed at less online, it just makes for less accountability on the side of the commenter. From reading your blog I know that you and I see things differently sometimes, but we’re very similar in other things – and I think that if the naysayers stopped to ask themselves honestly, they would realize that is true of them too. But I doubt they’re really thinking that deeply about it. So after all that rambling….
Age – 20. I’m a youngin’! In the midst of a 2.5 year engagement.
Location – Lakeview, Chicago. Adore it.
Hometown – a jumble of towns northwest of Chicago and a couple in Ohio. My parents have moving issues.
Profession – student right now. I hope to be a psychologist.
Marital status – engaged.
Children? – not for quite some time.
Likes or dislikes – I adore going on long walks with my fiance and our dog, spending time with my other animals, cooking vegetarian food, and discovering fun new places in the city.
How you found That Wife – I read your WeddingBee posts as Mrs. Avocado, and started reading both That Wife and OMGMom because I think most of WB is getting “attached” to the voices of the writers. It’s been fun following along! Also, I am curious about motherhood. My fiance and I are still on the fence about kids.
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future – like I said, we live in Chicago. But I have a horse. I was banned from riding as a teenager (my mom doesn’t like horses) and after a year of being a starving student, I scrounged up enough money to buy a 3 year old Mustang. We drive out to the suburbs just so I can see her. It’s worth every minute of rush hour traffic which, strangely, can occur at any time of day around here.
Anything else you think I should know – keep on blogging! We’re rooting for you. I know the bad comments resonate more than the good, but remember that at the end of the day, you have a wonderful family who loves and supports you – that’s what counts, not what some whackjob on the internet says.

Welcome back, Jenna!
I’ve been a long time follower of your blog, but I may have only commented once or twice.
I’m 27, from Seattle (yay!), grown up here all my life. I work as a web designer during the day, a wife and mom of a 13-month-old the rest of the time.
I think I originally found your blog through Tiffany’s blog (I’ve known her since college) back when it was still a wedding blog and you were a newlywed. I remember visiting your blog a few times and voted in the Tulle contest for you, but then didn’t come back until the day after you finished your “thank you” giveaways
so I was really sad that I didn’t get to participate, but I’m happy that I re-found your blog and am now a loyal follower!
I was a Weddingbee addict back in 2006/2007 when I was getting married (August 07) but kind of forgot about it afterwards. Nowadays, I’m finding Bee blogs left and right, and I love it! You and Mandy are my favs, of course. I really admire your ability to share your faith on such a public platform like your blog, and you are an amazing and super talented woman.
Anyway, I like to sew, and just started my own blog that has zero readers (I think I got like 5 hits on my statcounter today, which is the most I’ve ever gotten in one day. LOL) but that’s okay.
I’m still trying to find my voice and figuring the whole blogging thing out. It’s a serious commitment!
June 30th, 2010 on 1:30 am
Hey Jenna!
I’m so glad that you’re back from your blogcation and that it didn’t last too long. I’m new around That Wife but I’ve already become a daily reader over here. I was so happy when I found you here since you were one of my all time favorite bees!
Boo to the mean people. I guess it comes with success – the more people care about you the more other people want to bring you down. But I’m sure you know all this. And I totally agree that you don’t need to keep disrespectful negativity in your life. I say delete as needed.
For me (and I”m sure most) your super honest posts are my favorite. And learning about home birth and the LDS faith is SUPER interesting.
So me. I’m 26, live in Vancouver (BC not WA), I’m in a serious relationship but not yet engaged (yet I read weddingbee…that’s a little sad), don’t have kids and am not convinced that I ever want to (although that 5 minute video of T1 doing baby wiggles would have changed my mind if I didn’t read Mandy’s birth story right afterwards), I’m super super outdoorsy, and work in a boring desk job. My passion in life is hiking, biking, paddling, and being places where cars can’t take you.
And apparently I like parenthetical asides.
I kind of gave up on my blog awhile ago so it needs a lot of love. I might pick it up again…but I’m too lazy. It just doesn’t come naturally to me I guess. Anyway, if you want to check it out that’s cool, but it’s not biggie since obviously I don’t spend much time there either!
And that ends my very very long comment. Computer smooches! We love you Jenna!

Oh, how happy I am to see your post!!! Welcome back! Can’t wait to see the rush of new posts
Ok, here are my answers but you seriously do not have to stop by – I am boring!
1. I am 34
2. Glendale, CA (greater LA area)
3. Immigration Paralegal, hope to be a photographer when I grow up
4. Divorced after 10 years of marriage, remarried since (last December).
5. None yet, but hoping to have soon
6. I like photography; dogs; cats’ chins; foggy mornings; long talks with friends about things other than fashion shopping and make-up; wine; knowing that there is so much love in the world; good food; NPR; iPhone; art; traveling; skirts; skiing, skating, scuba diving, and so many other things… I dislike having to fight my weight, manipulations, rigidity, dishonesty, fear, control, populism, narrow-mindedness, heat, allergies, having to make a choice between two things…
7. I was searching the Net for some samples of Halloween pumpkin designs, and I found Jenna’s blog on their Halloween costumes, pumpkin carving, so I was hooked ~ I read the entire blog in the matter of days!
8. Not sure how it is quirky but I spent first 23 years of my life in Russia, and on top of that I am a Russian ethnic Muslim. I was a figure skater for 12 years (from the age of 4 through 16). I also studied and taught Tai-Chi in Russia and was a counselor on a Domestic Violence hotline in Moscow.

I love mac and cheese, your blog, and sleeping.
I don’t love people who are late all the time, or getting my seat kicked at the movie theater.
I googled “Mormon Ring Ceremony” and eventually found your wedding bee blog.
My birthday is National Reading day because it was also Dr. Suess’. I met my husband in HS, but wouldn’t date him because he had a bad hair cut. He went to college, got a hair cut, we dated for a week then got engaged (that phase lasted a year and a half)… and then we got married are are living happily ever after.
Anything else? I’ve been blogging since I was 13… I guess back before it was cool. I didn’t import those to my grown-up blog because… well… it’s mostly me talking about how much I loved my “boyfriend” at the time. gag.
Glad you’re back!

My name is Amy, and I’m turning 26 next Monday. I’m not quite sure how I feel about it.
Thanks for the help with finding a good area. I’m really excited about it.
Right now I’m in Midland, but I’m moving to Irving, TX in a few weeks!
I’m from Temple, TX mostly. Which is a couple of hours south of Dallas.
I stay at home! Although I do have a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from BYU, and I taught first grade for a year and a half.
I’m been married to my husband, Brady for about 7 1/2 years.
I have two little boys: Landon who is 2, and Spencer who is 2 months. Your little boy is only a few days older than mine! We had infertility issues with our first pregnancy (FOUR YEARS) but got pregnant super fast the second time.
I like food and naps and time to myself which is a rarity these days. I dislike 9AM church.
My friend told me about your blog, and mostly I started following when we got pregnant at the same time. It’s always fun to have someone go through the process “with” you. Although my birth story was quite different than yours (induced hospital birth) I found yours interesting. (And it looks like we both got featured on Mandy’s everybodybirths.com blog! Fun!!) Definitely not my cup of tea, but I’m glad that everything went so awesome for you!
There are a lot of quirky things about me–but I can write my name with my toes… ?
My blog is super-boring right now because we’re traveling around a lot this summer. But you’re welcome to read it anyway! I promise it’s usually more entertaining! bradyandamy.blogspot.com.
Also, one thing I like about you is that even though we disagree on some things, that I have a TON of respect for the eloquent and extremely accurate answers you give (especially on formspring) about our church. Totally awesome. Thank you!

Glad you’re back, Jenna!
I’m 29 (for three more weeks!) and I live in Greece right now, though I grew up in the rural Midwest, near Chicago. I’m working on my PhD and got married last September. My husband pays our mortgage and feeds the dog in southern Ohio while I’m researching here. We don’t have kids yet, but plan to in the near future. For now we’re happy with our black lab. I followed you here from Weddingbee! Quirky? I suppose the fact that I live in Greece for part of every year! I miss my husband and my family, but this is part of my career. This place is my second home. And just so everyone knows, the economic collapse hasn’t yet personally affected me, though my groceries are VERY VERY expensive. In fact, everything here is wicked expensive!

Still figuring it out
Single, not exactly engaged (I’m not getting a ring because I don’t want one and we’re not having a large wedding) but planning to get married January 2011
Nope
Likes: Traveling, pretty shoes
Dislikes: Leggings as pants
I have no idea, honestly. I must have gotten here from a link from another blog but I couldn’t tell you which.
I’m planning to marry my English bf in January 2011 so that we can be in the same country. I love him very much but I never thought I’d marry so young (or ever, really). We would definitely just be shacking up if it weren’t for the immigration issues. We met in 2003, while on vacation in Spain, in a very not G-rated way. We had too much too drink and ended up losing our virginities to each other (although neither of us realized the other was a virgin at the time)! We hung out for a few more days and exchanged a couple of e-mails when we got home. Fast forward 6.5 years, and through the magic of facebook, we reconnected and actually got to know each other and surprise, surprise, we really liked what we got to know. I always regretted that night but I’m glad that it now has a happy (and unexpected) ending. (And although I haven’t exactly been a nun in the intervening years, that’s pretty out of character behavior for me).
Also, my middle name is Fauve, which means wild beast in French.
I mostly lurk here but comment occasionally. I have a fascination with blogs by people who are very different from me but in some ways, not that different. You fit that bill. I haven’t commented a lot but I wanted to say hi, anyway. I’m also jessfauve on twitter, but I don’t have a blog.

Great idea for introductions! I’ve been a long-time reader, but first time commenter. I’m 26 living in The Hague, The Netherlands but originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I was a Financial Analyst previously, but after relocating recently, I’m now on the path to become a full-fledged photographer. I’ve been married for 10 months and don’t have any kids yet, probably in a couple of years. I was a loyal reader of weddingbee, looking for inspiration for my own wedding, and that’s how I came across (a then) Miss Avocado. Something to remember me by – the girl with the international romance – Malaysian meets a Brit in the UAE and ends up moving to The Netherlands to be together
I try to regularly update my blog – http://www.malinder.com – which is about my move to NL, settling down, and starting a photography business.
Oh, and I fully support your new comment policy. You don’t need to associate with people that are negative.

Becky, 28, living in London, England (have been here about 6 years). Originally from California. Came to England to do my PhD in Archaeology and never left. Happily married to my wonderful husband for almost 2 years, no kids. I’m a professional archaeologist (ie full time post-doctoral researcher). My work takes me all over the world, which I love. I’ve dug in Africa and all over Europe. My current field project is in Croatia (not bad, eh?). Found you through weddingbee and then followed you here. No blog, but I have one in the works mentally and am just sorting it out to launch it hopefully!

I’m a married, 30 year old woman. Mother to two boys with third boy due in Aug. I discovered your blog through a friend (who I believe just stumbled upon it) and have been a daily reader since. I’m so glad you’re back from you hiatus!! I found your birth story fascinating and loved reading about all the research and preparation you put into it.
June 30th, 2010 on 5:52 am
Hey Jenna, I’ve been a fairly regular reader the last year or so but have never commented – I keep meaning to, but I read at work with limited time. Now I’m at home and you’re asking about us, so I’m taking the chance! I’m 28 and live in Australia, married for just over 6 months, work for the government, no children yet, will be TTC on my 30th birthday if all goes according to plan! I found you through Weddingbee, a website I still visit daily even though my wedding was in December. I like going to the gym, cooking and eating good food for my loved ones, dancing, playing with our two dogs, reading and travelling (especially travelling). My husband and I spent a year living overseas and I kept a blog while we did that, and lately have been thinking of starting another one (inspired by yourself and Mandy, who I also read religiously!) I haven’t got around to it yet but I will let you know when I do and would love a visit
Apart from blogging you’ve also inspired me to look more into the business of having a baby, even though I’m a year or more away from it I’ve started research on what’s available in my local area and can’t believe how few women I know who have done anything apart from see an obstetrician and have their baby in a hospital ward. I’m pretty conventional so not much that’s quirky, although I do have a thing about not mixing fruit and meat (ham and pineapple pizza is just WRONG to me), not eating my dinner in front of a movie (I like to finish eating, THEN watch a movie), and I just had a minor kitchen disaster (like 2 minutes ago) and now I know what burned boiled egg smells like. Not good, FYI. That’s all for now but I’m so happy to see you back and look forward to reading about more of your adventures with T1! Now, off to deal with those eggs.

I’m so happy you are back!!! I’ve been checking every day with the hope that you would start blogging again!
Age: 29
•Location: Seoul, South Korea
•Hometown: Sweaburg, Canada
•Profession: Professor
•Marital status: newly married
•Children: Want to give birth early-2012 (I really want to have a year of the dragon baby)
•Likes: Reading, shopping, temple/church/shrine site seeing, blogging, travel
•How you found That Wife: I read through all of your archives on WB, but I didn’t find your blog until I saw the link on Mandy’s site
•Anything else you think I should know: I’ve married my husband three times….and have a fourth ceremony coming up! Because I’m an expat bride in an intercultural relationship, we had to have a civil signing at the Canadian embassy, a traditional Confucian ceremony (for his family and friends), an Orthodox Christian wedding (my faith), and we will be having a Canadian ceremony on August 15th. We joke that divorce and remarriage are NOT an option because we are sick of weddings now!^^
And my blog: msleetobe.wordpress.com where you will find your blog on my blog roll!

I have to admit that your break taught me my lesson. I was one of those people who left comments that could be considered rude. And your break has taught me to really edit/think about my comments and what I’m trying to accomplish with them because I don’t always agree with you but there are better ways to express that. So I apologize and will do better this time around.
Anyway,
* My name is Meg and I am 23 years old.
* I currently live in upstate NY
* I grew up in a small town in KY but then moved to upstate NY when I was in middle school, so I consider NY my home.
* I recently obtained my master degree in social work. So I am a professional social worker.
* I have been married 1 year to my college sweetie. We met and began dating our freshman year in college and married the summer we graduated.
* We just had our baby girl, B, in March.
* I like food, crafting, spending time with my family. I dislike people who aren’t open to new ideas, people against social change, and people who eat loudly.
* I have no idea when I found your blog. I found it about a year ago.
* Quirky? I refuse to take any medicine (including cold meds, allergy meds, and including pain meds after I had my c-section with my daughter) because my mom was addicted to drugs and deep down I’m afraid that will happen to me.
* My husband is Haitian. Though he was born and raised in PA, he is first generation so I really can relate to some of the things you say about your husbands Polish culture and how it’s different.

I’m Jessica and I’m 27. I currently live in Indianapolis, IN and I’m from Cincinnati, OH originally. I work in Legislation for a national non-profit. I’m married with no children here – waiting on me finishing grad school! I like running, healthy eating, fitness and enjoying spending time with my husband. I found you on Weddingbee and just kept you in my google reader! I also follow you on twitter and enjoy how you interact with some other local photographers I follow! My wacky fact is that I know one of the members of 98 degrees (Justin Jeffre) as our mothers are friends!

Great idea to get to know your readers a little better, will probably help understand their comments.
Age: 29
Location: Raeford, NC
Hometowns: Born in CO, spent my childhood in Sweden (mother is Swedish) then returned to CO for teen years. My parents aren’t divorced or military, they just felt like moving the family.
Profession: Before becoming SAHM, independent contractor.
Marital status: Married
Children: 1 son, born May the Force (kind of a Star Wars geek, haha), he’ll be 2 months old on July 4th.
Likes or dislikes: Likes the Rocky Mountains and Oregon, boating the Stockholm archipelago, cooking good wholesome food, salted black licorice, travel, good conversation with great friends and family, debate and a handshake, book that won’t let me go, knitting and painting (being creative), the United States Constitution, French film and Baz Luhrman, skeet shooting, love God. Dislike the horrible drivers in my town, the Southern heat, humidity, and bugs, hypocrisy, arrogance, liberal progressivism.
How you found That Wife: Googled LDS/Mormonism and found you somehow. My mother-in-law in Mormon and hates me because I didn’t convert (even though my husband is not Mormon), I was trying to understand why she is so venomous, had no previous exposure to her religion, and how I might better our relationship. I enjoyed your religious posts and commented, until I learned that pretty much all non-mormon sources on your religion are not recognized by your church, so no real point in debating. But I was hooked on your other posts. Then we became pregnant at the same time and share similar perspective on pregnancy and birth, and I enjoyed your posts through our pregnancies, and now babies:)
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: LIke your husband I spent a large portion on my life in Europe, and came to the US as a teen, although I am most definitely not a Europhile, probably because I am “half” American, I *think* I have a truer understanding of both cultures greatness’ and faults. I really enjoy hearing his perspective. I have 6 brothers and no sisters.

Hey!
* Age – 31, but I feel totally childlike inside. I still jump up and down in excitement if there’s something to get excited about.
* Location – Johannesburg, South Africa
* Hometown – same
* Profession – Wedding Photographer
* Marital status – Married for two years come this October! Yayyy!
* Children? – None; we’re still trying to decide if we want any and if so, when.
* Likes or dislikes – Ooh boy. Likes – chocolate, broadway shows, classic MGM musicals, Judy Garland, cats and dogs (I’m a “both” person), pretty clouds, the sea, blue, the feel of beach sand between my toes, crisp white bed linen (even though I don’t have any), books, the smell of old books, the smell of new magazines, the smell of new carpets and new cars, tulips, Friends, Buffy, The Nanny, Grey’s Anatomy, House, Glee, little glass jars and little tins or wooden boxes, sleeping during rain, karaoke, singing in general, movies, making lists, pretty hair accessories and necklaces, fresh fruit juice and smoothies, coconut, eating out, the fun rubbish my husband and I talk, sushi, fillet steak, roast potatoes…
Dislikes – people who type everything in text speak or some sort of garbled sentence that doesn’t even make sense, driving (everyone on the road is a maniac), cleaning, ironing, dishes and anything that pertains to housework, fizzy drinks, spicy food, 80s fashion, misuse of apostrophes, the taste of blood, getting food stuck in your teeth in a public place so you can’t get it out, beef, cheese or onion flavoured crisps, mayonnaise on pizza (vomit), vomit itself (I’m afraid of it, literally a phobia),people who let their dogs run in the road, toilet seats being down in public restrooms so I have to touch them to lift them up, um um…all I can think of for now
* How you found That Wife – through Weddingbee, then over to That Bride!
I started my photography business round the same time as you! And I’m a total nerd. Or geek. Or both.
June 30th, 2010 on 7:06 am
Yay! You are back. Your blog is one of my favorites to read because you don’t shy away from the hard stuff.
Me:
26. I currently live in Madison, WI; I’m originally from AZ. I’m a grad student in the biological sciences and so is the fiance – that’s how we met! We’re getting married in September (Labor Day weekend! Oh my goodness, so soon). No kids yet, although we’d like to start trying once I’m closer to graduation.
I love reading and taking pictures, and especially cooking. I love me some amazing home-cooked food! I found TW after reading through all of your archives on WB (I loved your dress and your cheery personality!) and have stayed ever since.
Quirky thing: three dogs. Who has three dogs? It’s constant insanity. And not three tiny dogs – these yahoos are medium-sized high energy demons.
Glad to see you back on the blog!
June 30th, 2010 on 7:09 am
I’m not usually the commenting type, but I think it’s such a great idea to have bloggy a meet-and-greet when you’ve got such a popular blog – takes a bit of the anonymity out of the ol’ blogosphere (plus, I adore answering questionnaires – does that count as my quirky fact?).
So.
Age: 26
Location: West Midlands, England, about to move up to the great wild North of England.
Hometown: St Philip, Barbados.
Profession: Ex-PhD student (art history), now stay-at-home-mama, homemaker and happy wife.
Marital status: Married for very nearly a year!
Children?: One beautiful 2-month-old son – I lovedlovedloved reading about your pregnancy with T1.
Likes: Good grammar, adventure stories, New Feminism, wife- and motherhood, Catholic theology, cooking.
Dislikes: My son’s acid reflux, when my husband goes to work in the morning, living far away from my family, being told that I’m ‘too smart’ to be a SAHM.
How you found That Wife: Browsing WeddingBee while planning my wedding last year.
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: See above, re: answering questionnaires. Also: filling in forms, taking online personality tests, etc. etc. I even got a kick out of sitting my SATs!
Anything else you think I should know: Given your birth preferences, I think you’d really like how the UK’s health system handles pregnancy and birth (when it’s working as it ought – always a problem with nationalised health care!). If you do drop by my very humble, very uninteresting blog, you might be interested in reading my birth story and some of my pregnancy/baby-related posts.

You’re back! I follow you on Twitter, so I got a small dose of Jenna through that, but I’m glad you’re back here, even if it might be a while before you’re back again after all these comments
I’m Jess, 26, living in Maryland, but originally from South Jersey. I’m a married systems engineer with no kids yet (a few years, we’re thinking). Likes critters of just about all kinds, cooking, and the ocean. Dislikes olives, mean people, and sweating.
I read you over on Weddingbee (I’m still subscribed to Weddingbee, even though I got married over 2 years ago!), but I think I found you through some other ex-Weddingbee-er’s blog. Not 100% sure.
Quirky thing about myself…uhm, I have 2 ferrets and volunteer at a ferret rescue? I used to live down the street from Christiana? I don’t really like PB&J? Haha…most things about me are probably kinda quirky.

Age: 28
Location: Boston
Hometown Boston
Profession:mechanical engineer
Marital status: married
Children: no
Likes or dislikes: I dislike the word “gift” as a verb.
How you found That Wife: weddingbee. I remember when you were introduced. You took weddingbee by storm I’d say!
One quirky thing: I crash trains at my job
Anything else you think I should know:
June 30th, 2010 on 7:25 am
* Age- 24

* Location- Florida
* Hometown- New York City
* Profession- Momma, because keeping up with a 2 year old and a 3 month old is definitely a full time job.
* Marital status- Married
* Children?- See profession.
* Likes or dislikes- Likes: Surfing, Disney World, Crafting, Decorating, Attachment Parenting, Good Movies, Watching really stupid tv shows that are really addicting and that I will never admit in real life(ala Secret life of the American Teenager, The CSI franchise & The Real World)hahah. Dislikes: Stupid judgmental people, Big Scary Bugs. That is all, I’m pretty easy to please.
* How you found That Wife: It was just after this past General Conference, I had to leave and nurse my newborn baby (my son was born in march) and I missed Elder Hollands talk.. Of COURSE that was the talk that had my facebook friends abuzz with statuses like “I want to be Elder Hollands BFF” and “Elder Holland rocks my socks off” etc. So a few hours later I quickly googled Elder Holland conference talk April 2010 and your blog came up. You didn’t say much about his talk, but I looked around, back read a bit and have been obsessed ever since.
* One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: My whole family is polish, my dads parents spoke it fluently, but I never really grew up with any of it. Oh, and I’m a 4 year convert to the LDS Church!
* Anything else you think I should know: I’m on this diet or I guess lifestyle change right now, When I had my son I am embarrassed to admit that I was 212lbs 1 week postpartum, but I am proud to admit that I am now 167lbs. Only 17lbs to goal. I use my wiifit as my scale and sometimes I need to really take a look at that graph to really put it in perspective that I have lost over 40lbs. A few days ago I went back and read all of your “weight” posts on this blog and it was really inspiring. I know we can BOTH do it again!
Oh, and my blog is private, the one I listed is our pre-blog, but I will totally add you as a reader to our real one if you want.
June 30th, 2010 on 7:26 am
Welcome back, Jenna! Sometimes a blogcation is just what’s needed to clear your head and let you start fresh.
So, here’s me. I’m Aly – 25 currently residing in London, England. I’m an Australian by birth and Sydney will always be my ‘home’.. and we’re moving back there at the end of this year, which I am super excited about.
I’m a Primary School teacher by trade though am currently taking some time off to get in touch with my health, as I was recently diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I owe it to myself & my body (and future kids!) to sort out the weight problems and hormonal craziness that comes along with it.
I’m engaged to Jase, and we’re planning our Sydney wedding for June 2011. We’ve been dating since 2002, so this has been a long time coming. That’s how I found you actually; through the Weddingbee site! Children eventually (if all goes well) but enjoying the wedding planning for now.
Hmm, randomness? I’m all for randomness. We have a cat named Oscar who is our substitute child. We got engaged in Prague. I’m planning a big girly vacation in Europe later this year. I can’t sew. Or knit. And I’m the least co-ordinated person on the planet.
I think that sums me up?
I am going to visit some of your other readers too, as this is a great idea!

My name is Abbie and I am 25 and live in Kansas City. I am studying for the bar exam in July, so hopefully I will be a lawyer soon! I am married and have no children unless you count cats and a dog. I found That wife off of weddingbee and even read your really, really old That Girl blog (or whichever one was before this one?). I actually also grew up on a pig farm in Missouri, so I had pigs in my front yard all of the time. Also, I’ve been to Poland and loved it. I went to Krakow and recognize a lot of the touristy places in your pictures there with TH. My favorite thing about Poland was the food. Right now my husband is writing my blog while I study for the bar exam!

~I followed you from WeddingBee. Yes I will admit that I, the non engaged gal, LOVED reading about all the wedding planning adventures. I secretly tell myself that its for a) research to help all my girlfriends and b) to live vicariously through other people so I do not bug a certain someone about when I will get a nice shiny piece of jewelry
~Hm, quirky fact… I moved across the country for college, at the age of 15! Well, ok, 15 and a ½, but still. Yes my parents were a little insane for agreeing to this, but it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made!
~I do have a blog: http://wishfulthinkersintentions.blogspot.com/ But I am horrible at remembering to upload the posts. I keep a journal in my purse and always jot down random thoughts/quotes/stories. I always have the intention of typing them up, and then forget! Maybe I’d have a little more motivation if someone other than my two best friends actually read it. No promises though!
I also just wanted to add, I love reading your blog. We are extremely different (diff backgrounds, religion, location, …), but I so enjoy reading about other people’s thoughts/feelings/etc. It really gives me perspective into how and why other people think the way they do, and has helped me learn to express how and why I think the way I do. So all in all I just wanted to say ‘THANKS’ and “WELCOME BACK!’

Hello Jenna,
I am so glad your blocation worked out for you! i have been reading since right after you got married and posted pictures of what you moved in to, i found you through These Little Moments and have been reading ever since, i may have commented once or twice and i racked my brain to try and figure a way to have you come to connecticut and photograph my wedding
i am 31 grew up in michigan, now living in connecticut with my husband and helping to raise his 14 year old son, we have been together for four and a half years and raising his son for three of those, my blog tag line is ‘insta family-just add water’ because that is pretty much how things played out.
something quirky about me…i have a bachelors degree in history (self professed history nerd) and work at a childrens museum in the finance department in charge of pay roll-math is not my strong suit! and i am working on my masters in american studies with a focus on museums and communities!!
i have enjoyed all of your posts and am so very happy that you are willing to share so much of your life-thank you!!

I’m 26 in Baton Rouge, LA. I’m originally from the outer skirts of metro New Orleans, though, and I miss it a lot! I’m currently married, making maps for a living. We have a furbaby, but no human kids at the moment.
I love to cook, bake, sew (basically any craft with needles, I’m so there!), garden and actually, clean.
I found you through Weddingbee, of course and I think that’s how you know me.
Hrm, a quirky thing? I’ve actually tried nutria before (the meat)…how redneck of me! It was in a jambalaya my neighbor made. I actually didn’t know it was nutria until after I ate the food, but I’m grossed out knowing that I ate a rodent. ::cue the Waterboy stereotypes::

-How you found That Wife: I was planning my wedding & found weddingbee. You stood out to me for some reason!
-One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: Well, I think my name is quirky enough. It’s like the color “teal” btw, not “tealie”, which people mistakenly call me all the time (silent E, people!). Other quirky things… I can’t straighten my arms all the way. No real reason, they just don’t straighten farther than maybe 45 degrees.
-Anything else you think I should know: I love crafts & hobbies. Crochet, cross-stitch, scrapbooking, I love them all… my friends always thought they were old lady hobbies until I introduced them to how fun they are!

Hello and welcome back!
•Age: 26
•Location: Tallahassee, Florida
•Hometown: Virginia Beach, Virginia
•Profession: Lawyer
•Marital status: I’ve been engaged for a little over a year now with no wedding date set yet. Why so long? Some serious procrastination.

Welcome back! I’m 31-yr old lawyer and live in NYC with my husband. We’re working on expanding the fam. I found that bride a couple years ago in my pre-engagement wedding blog obsession (before you were a bee), and never stopped reading. You may remember me as the person who emailed you a while ago about hypnobabies and my wedding photographer (the dude who does the bokeh panaromas, name omitted here to help retain my anonymity a bit). Also, I know you are always interested in perspectives of people from other religions or cultures, so you might like to know that I am Jewish (not religious, but totally culturally in it) and happy to pass on anything I know about that. I love reading your blog – I get excited for each new post! You’re one of the bloggers I read that my husband totally knows because I talk about your posts and I show him pics of your adorable kid (we call you one of my “blogger friends” even though it’s kind of a one-way friendship). Don’t know what it is about you but I think it is your openness about yourself and to your readers’ perspectives.

* Hometown – the town next to the above suburb of Boston
* Profession – HR professional
* Marital status – Married 01.02.2010

* Dislikes – Waking up in the morning, being late, getting lost, blow drying my hair every day.
* How you found That Wife – WeddingBee of course!
* One quirky thing – I love all things google. Gmail, google documents, google calendar, google home .. My dream job is to be a google master who uses all their products and tests them and tells them what are good and bad. (I am by no way paid by google to say these things – hahaha!)
* Anything else you think I should know – We live exactly ten minutes apart from each of our parents and have always wanted to move away for a few years — I’d love to hear more about how you deal with being in a new city (and I’m sure you’ll have more to say about this when you move again and try to adjust to a new city!) in terms of finding your way around, finding good places to eat, finding friends?!

Hi Jenna!
Welcome back! I’m a very infrequent commenter…I think I’ve commented all of 3 times in the past, so hopefully I’m not giving you needless information! I’m 27, live in Chicago and am a science teacher. I started reading your stories on the WeddingBee as I was planning my own wedding. My husband and I were married a a year and a half ago and are expecting our 1st on our 2nd anniversary! I’m a workaholic so during the school year I’m immersed in my job and during the summer I’m doing professional development after professional development to help ensure I’m a good teacher. When I’m not teaching I’m all about science and knitting and reading. I (unfortunately) do not have a blog…I’ve tried 3+ times to keep one up and running in the past 7 years but can never make it part of my routine. Welcome back again!

Age: 29 and turning 30 in October and scared to death about it!
Location : Toronto, ON
Hometown : grew up in a small town in the Ottawa valley and lived in Windsor< on for almost a decade
Profession : Data Entry – looking for a new job
Marital status: Common Law – plans to get married sooner rather than later
Children? Step daughter whose 12
Likes or dislikes : Geocaching, Reading, movies, tv-I'm attepmting to take up sewing, and am thinking about going back to school to pick up the language of French!
How you found That Wife: Wedding Bee
One quirky thing about yourself: I have had a pacemaker for over half of my life. I was 11!
Anything else you think I should know : I've been following you for almost two years now and am addicted to reading peoples blogs. I have tried to start my own blog but fail everytime. I appreciate what I can learn from others. Since I recently converting to Catholicism, I realy enjoy reading about your faith. I may not agree with everything but really enjoy your outlook on life. I

So glad you are back! I don’t comment very often but I follow your blog very closely!
I am a 24 year old living in Alabama. I was born in Alabama but we moved all over the U.S when I was younger. My father, fortunately, received many promotions which caused us to move very frequently.
Right now I work in Human Resources. I have a psychology degree and my current job is not very fulfilling. I hope to find something new in the near future.
I was married to an amazing man last October and we are currently trying for our first child! My likes and dislikes? Hmm. I love my dogs and husband. I love to read and am slowly falling in love with photography. It still intimidates me quite a bit so I have a lot to learn. Oh, and I love daydreaming about my future baby! My dislikes are rude and inconsiderate people, most politicians (even though I follow politics very closely) and spiders!
I don’t really remember how I found out about That Wife. I think another blog I read linked to yours and I was hooked!
One quirky thing about me is that my very first job when I was 15 was working in a reptile zoo. The zoo was actually in a mall in Illinois and I would stand at the entrance of our store holding a 10 foot Burmese Python around my neck. His name was Bananas and I loved him. In fact, when I left that job, he was the only thing I missed. I have always loved snakes and most people think that I am crazy for that fact! I just realized I have never blogged about that job. Yay for new material!

Welcome back! I rarely comment but I do so enjoy your perspective and passion. Plus, your kid is adorable!
- Age: 28
- Location: Portland, Maine
- Hometown: Boston, Massachusetts
- Profession: Marketing
- Martial Status: Married
- Children: not yet
- Likes: summer, flip flops, ice cream, the ocean, family
- Dislikes: disrespect, canned green beans, heavy metal
- How I found you: Weddingbee!
- Quirky: I started dating my husband when we were 16. And married him 11 years later.
- Anything else: Raised a democrat Irish Catholic, you can imagine we have had different life experiences, and while I don’t always agree with your opinions, I find you interesting … and isn’t that the best part of being a free-thinking person?
June 30th, 2010 on 8:02 am
Glad to see you back!
-Age: 25 (but 26 in a couple weeks)
-Location: CHICAGO!
-Hometown: Indianapolis
-Profession: Hard to have a title describing it, but basically I do “Improvement Work” for a hospital
-Marital status: Newlywed
-Children?: Someday, probably 3 years or so down the road
-Likes or dislikes: Loving my new photography hobby, traveling, and good food/wine. Dislikes include mean people (duh), working, short days in the winter, and iceberg lettuce.
-How you found That Wife: I started reading Weddingbee right as you were recapping your wedding. Somehow I found your personal blog about a year ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
-One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: Hmmmm, I don’t know if this is quirky but I think it’s a bit unique. I was a Division I thrower in college, as in I threw the discus, hammer, and weight on the Track and Field team. Watch out!
-Anything else you think I should know: I think you are awesome and you should do a reader meetup when you move to Chicago! And a photography workshop! I have a blog, but it doesn’t really have a readership. My family and a couple close friends are the only ones who read it, and I don’t write as much as I should. I figure I should probably just let the pros (like you) do it.

Hey Jenna! Here’s my rundown:
Age: 25
Location: Houston, TX
Hometown: San Antonio, TX
Profession: accountant
Marital Status: Married for 2 years
Children: not yet
Likes: photography, shopping & fashion
I found That Bride through random blogroll linking a little over 2 years ago or so when I was planning my wedding, so I have followed you through!
I do have a “photo blog” that I started when I was doing a Photo 365 project, but I have kind of abandoned it and not updated in a few months. I hope to get back into it though because I have so much more to share!
elizabethashleyphoto.blogspot.com
I have your photo lessons series you did awhile back printed out and in a folder, and that’s how I learned how to use my dSLR-like camera (a Nikon P90) when I had no idea what to do with the PSAM settings! Now I can use manual mode pretty efficiently because of your easy-to-follow tutorials and a little self-discovery, so thank you for those!
Glad to see you are back!
June 30th, 2010 on 8:15 am
I’m so glad you’re back and that your vacation was a success.
•Age–31. I can’t believe that! I’ll be 32 this fall.
•Location–I live in the Midwest and am finally falling in love with it.
•Hometown–I’m from a teeny, tiny town in Nevada (pop. 400)
•Profession–I’m a professional student. That is, I’m working on my dissertation proposal for my PhD in Spanish. I’m also a Spanish teacher as part of my fellowship.
•Marital status–Married almost two years, my husband and I got married just before you did. We met in our singles’ branch and I fell in love with him despite several factors: 1) I originally thought his brother was a good match for me (SOOOOOOO wrong!); 2) He was a townie; 3) He’s five years younger than I am and has just barely started his bachelor’s. We’re very good for each other and love being together.
•Children?–Not yet. I’m hoping for a summer 2011 baby. Working in academia makes it hard to have a baby any other time than in the summer.
•Likes or dislikes–I really loathe loud arguing. It makes me so uncomfortable. I also dislike most conflict. I’m not afraid to speak my mind if I think something is really wrong, but I think a lot of things just aren’t worth fighting about. I also don’t like dwelling on the past. Learn the lessons and MOVE ON! This has been on my mind a lot in dealing with my in-laws. Love them, but holy cow, do they argue a lot and dwell on the past.
•How you found That Wife–That Bride showed up as a suggestion in Google Reader while I was planning my own wedding. It was so nice to find another LDS bride trying to plan.
•One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future–I live with the relatively rational fear that my first baby will actually be two because my siblings are all twins–fraternal boys and identical girls. Further fear? That I won’t find out until 6 weeks before the babies are born, because that’s what happened to my mom. Twice. The second time despite having had three ultrasounds that indicated one baby. So, so scary.
•Anything else you think I should know–I think you’re great for speaking your mind about issues that are close to my heart, even if we don’t necessarily agree. Keep it up!
June 30th, 2010 on 8:18 am
I’m so glad you’re back Jenna!
I’m 24, I live right about the Missouri bootheel in Cape Girardeau. I write scripts for real estate television, but my degree is in Public Relations and I’d love to plan events for non-profits. I’d also like to get my master’s degree in Divinity. I’m getting married next month, and while we have no babies nor plan on it for a while, I’m living vicariously through you with T1! I’ve been following you since WeddingBee, your writing style and your devotion to your faith have always struck a chord with me.
Something quirky about me…I talk in my sleep. Entire conversations that I never remember. Apparently its genetic, my mom and my grandpa did it too!
June 30th, 2010 on 8:18 am
This is a great idea! I must have missed Mandy’s post asking us to introduce ourselves so I am going to hop over to her once I am done here. Glad to have you back!
* Age – 26 (but my birthday is in less than one month!)
* Location – Drexel Hill, PA (outside of Philly)
* Hometown – Havertown, PA (less than 5 minutes from where I live now)
* Profession – healthcare Market Research aka I interview doctors for a living
* Marital status – Married
* Children? – No (sad face) but I am hoping that will change next year
* Likes – spending time with my family, baking, gardening, watching the rain, reading…
* Dislikes – folding laundry!
* How you found That Wife – We got married around(ish) the same time and I was a loyal ‘bee reader
* One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future – I grew up in a funeral home. Once the movie Sixth Sense came out my younger brother took it upon himself to use the phrase “I see dead people” excessively… he is now an actor.
* Anything else you think I should know – I think T1 is probably one of the prettiest babies ever and every picture you post makes me want to me a mom even more!
*Twitter (no blog) – NatalieG720
p.s. Did you ever make that plum upside down cake?

* age: 29
* Location: THE O.C. (As in SoCal) (I have lived here since before that silly label got placed on my neighborhood… WHICH BTW my city used to NEVER be on the weather map until that ridiculous TV show.)
* Hometown: Irvine
* Profession: Nursing
* Marital status: Married
* Children?: Currently “baking” one.
* Likes or dislikes: Intolerance and “the Dutch” (kidding- Austin Powers Reference) Travel, trying to cook, and my bed.
* How you found That Wife: Followed from Weddingbee
* One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I am the kind of nurse with a Patch Adams approach with my patients. I tend to try to make heart wrenching situations into something funny- which many people (nurses/doctors) think it disrespectful- but I think it is more of a self-defense mechanism/ the way a lot of kids with chronic illnesses prefer to approach life. Living life to it’s fullest with a smile.
* Anything else you think I should know: I used to think Calamari was a noodle. As in pasta. %-] & I am gullible. Which is why I can’t take life too seriously.

Argh: Edit; Likes–> Travel, trying to cook and my bed.
Dislikes–> Intolerance and “the Dutch” (a lame personal joke).
I have no idea why this thing chopped out my words labeling my “likes” and “dislikes”. >:ol

Hi Jenna!
I’m Lisa
29 years old
and married
from Pittsburgh, PA
and I work at a university, coordinating on-campus housing.
No kids yet, although probably within the next year or two.
I found That Wife through WeddingBee. I’m “real life friends” with Mrs. Pineapple and starting reading WB because of her, but really starting enjoying some of the other bloggers as well.
My quirk is that I have a lot of allergies, including dairy and chocolate, which means that hot fudge sundaes are totally out of my life now (I didn’t develop these allergies until I was 18.)
I’m really into gardening, my dog, and trying to work out (I say “try” because I want to like it and be good at it, but I’m usually not.) All of those things are basically what I write about in my blog, but right now, gardening more than anything!

Dislikes : hot dogs, people who complain all the time
How you found That Wife : Weddingbee
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future : I started a blog this winter that I will not share with anyone other than immediate family as it was originally intended for my in-laws to keep tabs on our cats, Charlotte and Oliver, while they were at their winter home in Las Vegas. Seriously. They treat our cats like grandchildren and wanted daily updates/photos.
Also…so excited you’ll be a midwest girl soon!

Dislikes: Loud and/or irritating noises
How you found That Wife: A friend suggested your blog after I mentioned I might have been interested in an at home birth. Which, we ultimately decided against for multiple reasons. But I really liked reading about yours.
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I consider myself to be fairly boring and forgettable, but fortunately, my friends and family disagree with that statement.

Hi Jenna! I’m so glad you’re back! I don’t comment often but I read every post.
About me…I’m 25 years old and I live in Tyler, TX (about 2 hours east of Dallas). I was raised in Shreveport, LA. I am an accountant but I really want to be a middle school math teacher. I’ve been married a little over a year. I have 2 “kids” Sam and Roux. They’re dogs
I found you by bloghopping a year or 2 ago, and I’ve read every post since then. I’m one of 6 kids. My oldest sibling is 33 and my youngest is 9. I really want a bunch of kids, but my husband winces in pain everytime I say that

I’m 25, married, about to celebrate our first wedding anniversary.
I’m in North Carolina now, but my husband and I are both originally from California and hope to return in a year after he finishes his PhD. We’re both in the medical field, and we do not have kids yet.
I followed you over from weddingbee–I think you were doing your recaps when I initially started reading weddingbee.
I’m pretty shy regarding blog comments and do not have my own blog. I will tell you, though, that I really appreciate your honesty on your blog–yours is so genuine and interesting to read, and I love all the pictures you post. You are inspiring. I hope you keep the posts coming!
June 30th, 2010 on 8:59 am
I love this idea! I did it over on OMGMOM too, thought it was super fab! I’m 27, live in Louisville KY, but my hometown for the first 23 years of my life was Richmond, VA. I work in development/fundraising for nonprofit organziations. I’ll be celebrating my 1 year anniversary to my amazing hubby on Sept 21 and so far no kiddos. But we’re trying and have been since the wedding night. We’re currently dealing with infertility and about to embark on the first round of an IUI. I have PCOS and my hubs has borderline low sperm motility. Likes: I love my dogs, reading for fun and being outside. Also tend to be a reality tv show junkie, but really love learning new things which is why your blog is the bombdotcom! I enjoy reading about your photography, seeing your pics and learning more about the Mormon faith. (Born & raised, Baptist, but now just identify as a Christian) Dislikes: Being told what to do, judgmental people, and receiving unsolicited advice! I really don’t even remember how I found That Wife, I think it was from Budget Savvy Bride when she entered the contest for a new logo for you, but I really don’t remember its been so long now! Quirky…I was a narc growing up. Ha! Yes. My dad worked for Alcohol Beverage Control in VA so in high school instead of getting a real job, he hired me to be a narc and see if stores, clubs and restaurants would sell me cigarettes or alcohol underage. I’d go in looking like myself, show them my real drivers license that I was only 15,16,17 and about 30% of the time they still sold to me. Then I’d get to miss school and go to court to testify that they did indeed sell me cigarettes and/or alcohol. In high school I didn’t think it was weird, but now all my friends find it hilarious that I was a narc. Also, despite growing up in the states, I’ve never been to Disney Land or Disney World, but somehow my parents managed a trip to Europe when I was little and took me to EuroDisney (now Disneyland Paris). I think thats everything about me, I love your blog. Don’t comment too often, but hate the trolls who are mean to you. Its uncalled for. And I love T1′s adorable shaved head
June 30th, 2010 on 9:03 am
Hi Jenna,
I am glad you are back! Here is a little about me:
-I am 25 and live in Northern Virginia
-I currently work in local government as a budget analyst (yes, the work is as boring as it sounds), but since the birth of my daughter 3 weeks ago, I am transitioning to be a SAHM (and I could not be happier about the career change!)
-I have been married for two years to my college sweetheart.
-I just gave birth to my daughter three weeks ago!
-I cannot remember how I found your blog…but I am glad I did
-Likes: being a mom, wife, sister and daughter; the morning; coffee; my lable maker
-Dislikes: humidity (it makes my wavy hair look like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket)
-Hmmm…quirky thing about myself…I love to go to the gym super early, like 5:30 a.m. for my group exercise classes. I started doing this in college, and I just stuck with it (probably because routines are my drug). For me, weight maintenance is a side benefit, but I really like going because of the energy it brings me. My husband thinks it is one of my strangest qualities

I am 22 and I was born and raised in a small town in upstate NY. I still live here because I love the country. I work fulltime at a financial planning company (I have a master’s degree in Taxation) but my love is my hobby farm I maintain in my spare time (My blog is dedicated to my farming shenanigans). I am not married…yet
I love good food and simple living. It doesn’t take much to keep me happy. I found your blog through Caitlin @ Healthy Tipping Point right before you had T1. One quirky thing about me is that I think I was born in the wrong generation. I’d love to live Little House on the Prairie style!

I LOVE baking and running and exploring DC. Oh and blgos. I talk about bloggers like friends. Would be thrilled to have more time to travel and also more time to spend with my family in VT.

Something interesting – five years ago I started Weight Watchers and running and I’ve lost over 100 pounds. It totally changed my life! And yet I still LOVE me some cupcakes and candy!

So happy to have you back! I love the idea of getting to know your readers. I don’t comment that often, but I try to when I can, and when I get fired up. haha. Here’s a little about me.
Age – 29
Location – Currently living in Cheshire, Connecticut, but moving back to Seattle, Washington in a few weeks!
Hometown – I was born and raised in a little town in Washington called Wenatchee.
Profession – I’m in Marketing/Public Relations. I’m a writer at heart, and worked at a children’s party planning company, writing party guides for children, until I had to move to Connecticut for my fiance’s job. It was the best and most fun job ever! birthdayinabox.com
Marital status – Engaged! I’m getting married 10/10/10 in Seattle. So excited!
Children – Not yet, but we will be trying soon after the wedding!
Likes or dislikes – I love reading, writing, and volunteering for animal rescue. I have two dogs who I love dearly and they keep me busy! I love traveling and exploring new places. I don’t like cleaning. I don’t eat meat. I love watching horror movies, but they give me bad nightmares, so I had to kind of cut myself off. I love sleeping and I hate being woken up.
How you found That Wife – I think I originally found you through OMGMOm’s blog. I think I added you to my reader after that super-cool pre-baby photo session where you were pointing to the sign that said boy? girl? Loved it.
One quirky thing about myself – I’m a national champion in Tae Kwon Do. haha. I competed when I was 15.
Anything else you should know – My fiance is Polish, too, although not first generation. We hope to go visit there sometime soon!
June 30th, 2010 on 9:22 am
Hooray! Welcome back.
Age: 27
Location: Chicago
Hometown: Coffee-drip-on-the-map, Southern Ohio
Profession: Administrative assistant/grad student
Marital status: Married almost 4 years
Children?: I love them, but have none of my own yet. Though my new niece is so cute I may claim her as my own soon.
Likes or dislikes: I like your blog! I dislike rude people who harsh on creative people. (Um, that’s a copout.) I also like hiking, running… and baking, which is why I’m fit-but-not-very-thin. I truly do dislike rudeness. We need a bit more civility in society these days, methinks.
How you found That Wife: Weddingbee? Haven’t stopped by the ‘bee in forever, though.
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: In middle school, I grew an eyelash that was 2 inches long. I sent it in to the Guinness Book of World Records, but they said there was no record for that (didn’t I just SET the record?).
Anything else you think I should know: I have been really fighting the urge to give you lots of unsolicited advice about Chicago, because I’m sure that would get annoying after a while. If you have Chicago/U of C spouse questions, feel free to ask!
June 30th, 2010 on 9:25 am
So glad to see that you’re back! I read your blog religiously, but have only commented a time or two. I love reading your posts, and that you are so true to what you believe. While I don’t always agree with you, I respect you for telling it like it is, and being so confident and real on your blog. I wish I could be more like that on mine!
I am a 25 year old wife of two years, and I live in the-middle-of-nowhere, Ohio. And I absolutely love it here! Following a tractor on my way to work is not an uncommon happening. I’m a teacher’s aide at the moment, but plan on being a stay at home mom when we have children (which is hopefully soon!) I really don’t remember how I found That Wife…I probably saw a link on another blog or something. One quirky thing about me is that I am 5’1 tall, and my husband is 6’4…We definitely don’t look like we belong together! ha! But it’s okay, because we do belong together
I look forward to reading more! Glad you are back from your break!

Quirky thing about me? Hmmm, well, like Katie above me, I used to show rabbits at the fair through 4H and… I have an English husband? I don’t know, I hope you remember me – we’re friends!

Hey lady!
I’m so excited that we’re going to get to meet in person soon, but in the meantime (or perhaps in preparation!), here’s a bit about me. I’m 23 and currently live in the NC Triangle, but I’m originally from southeastern Connecticut. I love Connecticut. LOVE IT. I am a wedding magazine editor. My boyfriend John and I have been dating since senior year of high school. No children. I love bread, Martha Stewart, Duke basketball, the ocean, and crafty DIY projects. I found That Wife through Weddingbee. One interesting thing you should know about me is that I was an Irish dancer for 12 years — curly wig, $$$$$ custom dress, huge trophies, poodle socks, gold lollies, and all. Fun!

Age: 25
Location: Baltimore, MD
Hometown: Bethesda, MD
Profession: JD, studying for the bar (so maybe in 6 months, Lawyer!!)
Marital status: Engaged (10/10/10!)
Children? Not yet. Debating whether I want them before or after I’m 30.
Likes or dislikes: Likes food, cooking, reading, writing, crafting; dislikes cleaning.
How you found That Wife: Weddingbee.
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: This is usually the point where I share that I play Ice Hockey, but that actually doesn’t make me blog-memorable. So I will instead say that I currently can make 6 kinds of macaroni and cheese without a recipe (and counting!) and you can read about them at http://www.barefootandinthekitchen.blogspot.com (although you will sadly have to skip the beer-leek mac and cheese, which is one of my favorites.)
Anything else you think I should know: I also went through a weight-loss journey very very similar to yours so I’m finding your post-pregnancy weight loss journey fascinating to follow, but I think you’re really hard on yourself about it! (Was that too “I know everything?” Sorry!)
June 30th, 2010 on 9:38 am
Hi Jenna! I don’t comment often (for some reason I tend to not comment on blogs that get lots of comments; it just feels overwhelming) but I read every single post so I figured I’d answer your survey.
-I’m 28 years old
-I live in Katy, TX just outside of Houston
-I’m a registered nurse working in oncology
-Married, no children yet but trying.
-I like reading, dogs, exercising, family, singing, church, the semi-colon, maps, & tulips. I dislike seafood, asymmetry, baths, reckless drivers, loud engines, clutter, & cold weather.
-I honestly can’t remember where I first found your blog. Probably through someone else linking to you.
-I’m not a very quirky person, but my former roommates used to make fun of me for my minor OCD tendencies. I had an entire drawer in my bathroom dedicated to my toothpaste, and I could tell if someone had been in my room if a single pen was out of place.
-I’m a Christian, I have three dogs, I was born and raised in Houston and I love it here despite the heat & traffic, but sometimes I wish I could start over someplace new. I don’t think I’ll ever leave though, because my entire family & husband’s family live within 10 miles.
June 30th, 2010 on 9:39 am
Hello! I’m far from a regular commenter but I always read all of your posts ever since you finished up on Weddingbee.
I’m 26 and am currently living in Cheyenne, WY but am about to relocate to a small town in NW Colorado as my husband just got hired on as the college’s rodeo coach. The downside is that we just bought a beautiful house here that we have to leave but the perk is that it’s just 100 miles from where I grew up (a small town outside of Grand Junction.) And your best shot for remembering me is that I also grew up on an organic farm although my dad grows primarily peaches instead of onions. I’ve been working for the WY Game and Fish Dept as a staff biologist but that will change when we move. I have no idea what I’ll do there as there really aren’t too many options.
We don’t have any kids but plan on “pulling the goalie” in a couple years. We’ll probably aim for two and may or may not already have their names picked out.
Oh! And another thing in common, my husband is 2nd generation Polish-American. His grandmother survived the camps and a trek through Russia to come over in her late teens and make her way here with her new husband. So there you go. Another organic farmer’s daughter marrying a Polish guy.

Hi Jenna-glad you are back and feeling revitalized. You deserved a great vacation!
Age: 26
Location: Orange County, CA
Hometown: same
Profession: Events & Communications Director, but my dream job is to stay home and be a columnist or children’s book writer.
Marital status: Married almost 2 years
Children: not yet
Likes or dislikes: I love (it’s well beyond like) the Harry Potter book series but feel a part of me will die when the final movie has been released. I like things to look forward in general, Friday nights and their optimism, and fresh mozzarella cheese with basil. Dislikes include when adults lick their fingers, narrow-minded thinking, and micromanagement.
How you found That Wife: Weddingbee of course! I was intrigued by the first Mormon bride!
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: In high school, my best friend and boyfriend (now husband) were prom king and queen, as they were the same year, and then I was homecoming queen my senior year. Very incestuous royalty at our school!
Anything else you think I should know: You are a fabulous writer and I love hearing about your experiences. I think that is what the blogging community is for-sharing and exchanging ideas and naturally we don’t always have to agree with each other, but that’s when you can separate the riff-raff, which I am glad you are doing
June 30th, 2010 on 9:42 am
Age: 26
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Hometown: Buffalo, NY
Profession: Mental Health Care
Marital status: SINGLE but in a long-term committed relationship
Children: none at this time
Likes or dislikes: like chipotle burritos and pedicures, dislike (like you) unsolicited advice. Had a doozy this weekend from my sister that strengthened my resolve to keep my mouth shut when it’s not my place (something I strive to do but is REALLY HARD sometimes)
How you found That Wife: I think from Weddingbee. I found Weddingbee a year or so ago and Mrs. Avocado was one of the bloggers I read in entirety in about a day
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I can’t get enough of hair bands (Guns N Roses, Poison, Def Leppard, etc.)
Anything else you think I should know: You chronicling your pregnancy and birth experience with a midwife/at home has seriously made me consider that as an option when the time comes for me. The statement you made to the tune of “the more interventions you have, the more interventions you have to recover from” really hit a chord with me. I still don’t know what I will do and I am years away from having children but now I consider this more of an option. Oh and it made me realize you are one of the bravest people I have encountered – putting all of that out there is kind of amazing!
June 30th, 2010 on 9:44 am
I never realized how much I enjoyed reading your posts until you took a break and how excited I was to see a post in my reader this morning! Welcome back!
Age – 32
Location – Central Massachusetts
Hometown – Central Massachusetts
Profession – Marketing/PR
Marital status – Married almost 1 year on 8/22
Children? Furry children – yes, real ones – not yet
Likes or dislikes – love reading blogs during the day at work when I need a mental break, dislike very immature people or people who create drama just for attention
How you found That Wife – WeddingBee
One quirky thing – When dating, my husband and I found out that we had worked at the same chain restaurant at the same time. I hated it and only lasted 9 months but I can’t remember if I ever noticed him and vs versa for him but we can both name off all the same people we worked with. Also, at the same time, our moms worked at the same hospital and although the restaurant never came up they often talked to one another in the halls because we were the same age and going through college tours and they shared stories. YET, despite living in small towns and only 15 minutes apart, we would eventually meet via Yahoo pesonals!!
Anything else you think I should know – we’ve been moonlighting as wedding videographers for the last 6 years. My husband is more the skilled and trained videographer and editor (even though that’s not his full time job) and I’m more the graphic designer.
June 30th, 2010 on 9:45 am
Hey Jenna! I read your blog almost daily but rarely comment. I’m realizing now that comments are so appreciated by bloggers, so I will try to comment on my favorite blogs more often.
•Age: 26
•Location: Hyde Park, NY
•Hometown: Salt Point, NY
•Profession: Videographer / Fledgling Photographer
•Marital status: Married
•Children: Within the next few years
•Likes or dislikes: Likes; chocolate, photography, natural light, babies, life stories, positivity, cats, being near bodies of water, camping, spending time with my family, the color green. Dislikes; cigarettes, poor spelling/grammar, people saying “like” every other word, disrepectful self-absorbed people.
•How you found That Wife: I followed you during your time as Miss Avocado and then jumped over here. I was inspired by your weight loss story and also your journey to being a professional photographer.
•One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I can wiggle my ears.
•Anything else you think I should know: I’m addicted to carbs and fried food (but am trying so hard to make healthier choices).
June 30th, 2010 on 9:45 am
Welcome back. Hope you enjoyed your trip back to Washington.
About me; 34, married, no kids, work in social services. I like reading, food, watching tv, snuggling with my hubby. I dislike doing the dishes, budgeting and cleaning the bathroom. I’ve been reading your blog since you were That Girl. I live about a mile from the temple you got married in and pass it everyday on my way to work.
June 30th, 2010 on 9:46 am
I don’t comment here much, but I though I’d start off by introducing myself!
My name is Sarah, and I just turned 27 last week. I’m currently living in Florida, but will soon be making the move back to my hometown in southwest Michigan.
I’m a graphic designer (mostly wedding stationery). I’ve been married for almost 2 years, and we don’t have kids yet, but children are definitely in my future!
I love a sense of humor, and hearing someone else’s perspective on life. I can’t stand people that are stupid or rude.
I started reading Mrs. Avocado’s blog on Wedding Bee (I think right when you were doing your wedding recap) and got excited when I found out I could continue to read “Mrs. Avocado’s” blog at That Wife.
Something unique about me: I’ve never broken a bone, but I have sprained/pulled/twisted just about every muscle possible.
June 30th, 2010 on 9:57 am
Glad to see you back posting again!
* Age: just turned 29
* Location: Chicago, IL
* Hometown: outside Pittsburgh, PA
* Profession: biomedical research engineer at a rehabilitation hospital
* Marital status: married 3 years
* Children: not yet. This one’s a bit complicated medically for me and I try not to stress out about it too much.. trusting in God’s plan! In the meantime I get my fix by living vicariously through all the lovely bloggers who are pregnant or SAHMs with newborns!
* Likes: summertime, beaches, running, dancing, reading, writing, languages, science, religion, time with my favorite people, chocolate
* Dislikes: sleep deprivation, boredom, winter
* How you found TW: was a big Weddingbee reader back in ’07. I’ve since moved on to the newlywed blogs started by Bees and found you through one of those
* One quirky thing: the first comment on my blog by someone I’d never met was from Jenny (Geek in Heels) and I felt so excited, like a famous person said hi to me! What a nerd. Have to admit that the prospect of another comment from a Bee is really exciting to me ~ I love this idea of yours!
* Anything else you think I should know: I’m still pretty new to the blogging thing and it’s been challenging… would love to make new blogging friends but my introverted tendencies make it hard. Hence I don’t comment as much as I should, or even post on my blog as much as I should… am trying to remedy that though!

Welcome back!
I’m 28 and live in Nashville. Not married and no kids. I’m a photographer and business analyst.
I like photography (surprise), cosplay (although photography takes all my money, so I can’t afford to make costumes anymore), music, and pizza. I dislike lettuce and people who cancel plans at the last minute.
I found your site because we were Weddingbee bloggers together.
Quirky…hmm. You might remember this from the ‘Bee, but I have trichotillomania and it causes me to pull all my eyebrows out. That’s quirky, right?
June 30th, 2010 on 9:58 am

Welcome back! I hope your blogcation (and vacation) were restful!
My name is Sarah and here’s more than you ever wanted to know about me …
Age – 25
Location – Atlanta, GA (but not for very much longer!)
Hometown – Kent, CT
Profession – I’m currently a hospital chaplain, but this is kind of the bridge that is getting me from student to pastor.
Marital status – Married for a little over a year!
Children? – Does a furry four-legged creature who knocks things off at the counter at 4 in the morning to wake me up in order to get breakfast count?
Likes or dislikes – I like spending time with my husband, blogging, photography, cooking, long walks and pilates. I dislike feeling out of control.
How you found That Wife – Umm – I think someone sent me the link to one of your posts, so I was clicking around, realized you were pregnant with T1 and wanted to follow that part of your journey.
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future (this is the point where I always say that I raised pigs in my front yard growing up, or that I can blow milk out of my eye, or that my husband grew up in Poland) – When I got married I showed up on to the church on a fire truck. We set the siren off and everything.
Anything else you think I should know – I have great expectations.

Age 28
Los Angeles (Tarzana specifically)
Born in Boston, raised in Orange County, CA
Health Educator for Veterans Hospital
Married 3 years to the best!
Baby girl named Orly Sarah, 7 months old on July 4th
I like sleeping in, and dislike late people
Found you from Molly’s (these little moments) guest post
A quirky thing on this blog might be that I am Jewish, my dad is a Rabbi, but I respect all religions and am interested in learning about other perspectives, which still allows me to love my own religion just as much.
Another thing is that I wish I had a blog, but the thought of starting it and building up a readership is daunting.

Age: 25 (soon-to-be 26 on August 26)
Location: Winston-Salem, NC
Hometown: Wilmington, NC
Profession: nanny to two kids (3.5 and 1)
Marital status: happily married for 15 months
Children?: not yet – one day, but we’re in no rush
Likes: the beach, sweet tea, reading, decorating, planning weddings and kiddos; dislikes: mushrooms, rude people (especially those that think they’re better than you), a dirty house
How you found That Wife: I honestly have no idea, but it was back when you were blogging about your wedding (and I was planning my own) … I’ve stayed ever since as I love getting various perspectives on life
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future (this is the point where I always say that I raised pigs in my front yard growing up, or that I can blow milk out of my eye, or that my husband grew up in Poland): I use my toes to pick things up off the ground … they’re extra bendable and would be more useful if they were a bit longer
Anything else you think I should know: When people ask me what I do for a living (my husband is a med student, so we’re often at functions that require an answer to this question), I respond that I am a part-time nanny and a full-time wife. I often get the weirdest looks, but I have women that respond they wish they could devote full-time to be wives, which leads to excellent conversation

June 30th, 2010 on 10:23 am
I can’t remember if I’ve ever commented here, but I’ve been reading since you were on WB. I’m 32 and live a few hours down I-45 from you in the Houston suburbs. I got married a year ago, but no kids yet. “Sooner rather than later” is what we’ve started telling people when they ask when we’re having kids.
Let’s see. Profession? I’m an aerospace engineer and I work in mission control for the space shuttle. So that’s pretty unique, and it’s a pretty cool job. But honestly? My dream job is to be a graphic designer/web designer/photographer/writer/etc. Engineering doesn’t really give a girl much room to be creative.
Outside of work, I like to travel, and I also do triathlons (swim-bike-run) which is a lot of fun. We bought our first house a year ago so I’ve been working on and off on projects there. My husband’s major hobby is flying — he’s a private pilot — so I also like riding along when he goes flying.
I’m not LDS, in fact I’m not really religious at all, and I don’t always agree with your opinions. But I keep reading your blog because I really admire how you put yourself out there in a very open and honest way.
June 30th, 2010 on 10:38 am
I clicked over to your blog after reading your birth story on EADL, but I’m pretty sure I read about some of your stuff on WB, too! Your birth story was so sweet, thanks for sharing!
I’m 29, living in Michigan, am a part-time college professor/part-time stay at home doggy-mama. My husband and I don’t have any kids (but we’d like some… soon), but we’ve got two dogs that make us laugh and provide cuddles as needed. I won a DLSR a year and a half ago and am getting more into photography. I typically blog about crafty stuff, home renos, and other adventures… lately I’ve been sharing more of my photos, too.
June 30th, 2010 on 10:39 am
I’m 23 and I live in Boise, Idaho. I actually grew up about an hour southwest of Boise in a tiny little farm town. My graduating class from high school was 35. Whoop for the small town farm girls.
I’m currently a full-time photographer and student who will hopefully be finishing next summer. Double whoop.
I’m less than one year married. I actually found your blog right after I was engaged and looking for “wedding blogs” which led me here.
Zero kids, though it will probably happen after I graduate. Trying to finish that little hump before we bring kiddos into the equation.
I love traveling and trying new foods, hanging out with my brand new baby niece and just enjoying the company of friends and family. I’m a pretty easy person to get a long with.
Hmmm… one quirky thing. I don’t know why I remembered this just now but as a kid I always told myself that I’d be able to a back-walk-over until I died because I always wanted to be able to do it. To this day (obviously pre-kids) I can still do it.
June 30th, 2010 on 10:41 am
I love this idea! Hopefully I’ll find some more blogs to add to my reader, too.
–My name is Ashley.
–I live in the middle of nowhere, Michigan. No, really. The town has less than 500 people.
–I just quit my 8 year stint in the banking field to be a grad student working towards my Masters in Education with an English emphasis.
–I live with my boyfriend and my darling, but naughty, puppy. An engagement is in the works, or so I’m told.
–I love white wine, weddings, photography, and young adult literature. I dislike incorrect grammar, apathy, sweating, and my economics classes.
–I don’t remember how I found TW… probably through Weddingbee or another Weddingbee blogger.
–A quirk about me is that I went to elementary school in a 2 room country school house. There were about 40 kids K-5th grade on a good year. I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything. I also love putting on my hot pink rubber boots and trudging through the mud and muck with my boyfriend on his family farm.
Hmmm… I guess that just about sums it up! I echo the comment about OMGmom’s blog. It’s fantastic and hilarious – a great read!
Welcome back!

This is a great idea! I ready OMGmom’s blog and I just love it! I actually think I found your blog through her blog.
•Age: 25
•Location: Oklahoma
•Hometown: My dad was in the navy so we’ve lived everywhere from England (where I was born) to Hawaii and finally Oklahoma.
•Profession: I negotiate contracts and budgets for a clinical research site.
•Marital status: Single, but hoping my boyfriend pops the question soon!
•Children: not yet, but I can’t wait!
•One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: Hmmm well I had a ruptured appendix for over a month before the doctors found out by doing exploratory surgery. I had several complications and needed two additional surgeries. I still have complications today ( 3 years later) so I’m extremely senstive to people going through medical issues and why I work in the medical field. That’s a little depressing though, so I’ll let you know that I’m also addicted to everything baby and love the new site Mandy started all about birth stories-yours included!
June 30th, 2010 on 10:58 am
Jenna – we tweet back and forth a little I’m @e2r2z. I’m 30 and live in a suburb of Minneapolis, MN called Edina. I’ve lived in MN all my life – all around the Twin Cities metro area.
I’m married to a man 7 years older than me and we have a beautiful daugther, Baby K, she is 5 months old.
A weird thing about me, since you love all things birth and baby, is that my uterus inverted while delivering the placenta. Creepy! All is well though and according to my doc, I can still grow me some more babies – Yay!
I have a blog that I started when my girl was born http://www.newmommajomma.blogspot.com. I’ll be posting my whole birth story very soon. I started out reviewing baby products that I loved, but detoured to document the crazy year we just had – building our dream home and having a baby.
I am a full-time mommy and a part-time consultant, working from home 6 days a month while my MIL watches my daugther one floor down from me. I can still breastfeed and put her down for naps and if I miss her, I can go see her anytime…I am so, so lucky.
I love photography and manage to grab a few good shots here and there. I have a thing for photographing trees and of course my daughter.
I’m really glad you’re back.

•Anything else you think I should know: I’m funny…I think (oh, and my name is Amanda – I may have commented under that name before). I love your photography. I wish I lived near you so you could take maternity photos whenever I reach that point in my life. I wanted to be a bee, but I didn’t have the right voice then and I didn’t have time to find it in my wedding stress. Between work and wedding stress, I got the shingles – luckily 5 months before the wedding). I have found my voice now – almost 8 months post wedding. I enjoy reading your church information because my BIL and SIL are Morman. I find other people’s beliefs fascinating. I like to know why people believe what they believe. I’m not going to judge people and hopefully they won’t judge me.
Have a great day, Jenna! Glad you are back.

I loved Mandy’s idea. I’m thinking of doing the same on my blog someday.
I’m 26, butlt turning 27 in 2 weeks, so you can count on 27.
I live in Asheville, NC.
My hometown is a little town in the Pyrenees, France.
I work in tourism, as a Front Desk Agent right now, but I’m thinking to do something else. Maybe become a French teacher?
We’ll be celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary next week.
No kids yet, but sometimes in the next 1-2 years?
I love French Nutella but hate the American one. I love to hike, garden, travel and take pictures so I have visual memories of the thing we do.
I don’t like the hot humid air of the South, being so far away from my family, no having a job I find fulfilling.
I found you via weddingbee.
I can not cook without making a giant mess, I always end up with something on the floor, flour in my head or some random thing like that.
I’m French, we’re home owners and working on paying off debt so we can have a better life and kids. My husband is vegetarian so I don’t cook meat at home.
Oh and I have a blog which is bilingual since last December (working my way to older posts):

Yay for a blogcation! I’m 24 for another 2 months. I live in my hometown (same neighborhood – sort of) which is Salt Lake City, UT. I am married, and I am a workaholic. sort of. I work at an insurance company as an administrative assistant in the day, and my husband works nights, so I picked up a job in a restaurant a couple nights a week so I won’t get too lonely, and so I can have some social interaction. I also teach violin to kids ages 3 and up. I am a certified Suzuki violin teacher. I found you through your former college roommate Shelly (used to be) Sanders. We went to high school together. Funny story – Shelly and I have another friend who we used to pal around with and her name is Shelby. Last summer, Shelby came to visit (she currently lives back East) and we got together. Shelly ended up not being able to make it last minute, so it was just me and Shelby. We were talking about blogs, and what we read, and Shelby and I both confessed to being faithfully devoted to reading your blog. We thought it was hilarious because we both found you from Shelly’s blog, and it was just humorous to us. Anywho… We don’t have time to list the quirky things about me.
I’m glad you’re back!! xoxo

You’ve commented on my blog before and heaven knows I’ve stopped by here a time or two (yeah…) – sooo…I don’t know if you really *want* to know anything more, but for the benefit of participation and introducing myself to others that don’t know me – - here we go!
*28 years old
*Currently in San Pedro, CA – probably Ohio next year
*Orginally from Mesa, AZ
*Full-time mom now, 2nd grade teacher before the kidlets, but now realize I should have looked into graphic design. I would have done well in that I think.
*Married for 7 years
*2 little, adorable boys (if I don’t say so myself…really those boys can’t get any cuter)
*LIKE: making stuff – which includes anything food related, scrapbooking, cardmaking, sewing; photography; reading when I get time; Disneyland; practically living at Target
*DISLIKE: bullying, cantaloupe, when I can’t get the hang of something new quickly, someone not respecting my time, and line-cutters
*I found you through your friend Megan (who I don’t know) but I babysat her older sister’s baby a 100 years ago, came across their blog somehow, clicked on Megan’s for *some* reason, then saw your blog from her. That’s insane isn’t it?
*I’ve got lots of quirks/differences: I like snakes for one. We are a military family, have a son with Down syndrome (which makes our little family different in a totally awesome way) and I can make myself burp. Mom’s *real* proud of the last one…
*I think you should know that your blog is pretty much the only I’ve followed so consistently for such a long time. And I really am sending your baby gift soon (this delay is getting pathetic now), which would make you the first person I’ve ever sent something to that I hadn’t met in real life.

Location: Phoenix
Hometown: Phoenix

Likes or dislikes: Likes – photography, being pregnant, my pug Ollie, husband. Dislikes – swollen feet, ankles, hands, and itchy stretch marks!
How you found That Wife: Followed you over from wedding bee
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I am a hardcore sports fan. Especially nutty for the Arizona Cardinals.

I shall play, sounds like fun!
•Age: I’ll be 25 on Sunday! Yay!
•Location: San Diego
•Hometown: Centerville, Utah
•Profession: I’m in marketing
•Marital status: wed
•Children?: oh no, but maybe someday (maybe that’s my quirky thing? I’m a Mormon who is still unsure on the kid thing)
•Likes or dislikes: I like going out, staying inside, being warm / dislike: onry people, being cold
•How you found That Wife: someone linked you
•One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I never know how to answer this question. I feel so typical right now. I am an MBA student, on the Sexual Assault Response Team, in YW and working full time — so I’m a little busy… does that help?
•Anything else you think I should know: I think you’re fab.
June 30th, 2010 on 11:40 am
This is such a great idea. I’ve found some of my favorite blogs from links in your comment section, and I look forward to finding some more.
I just turned 23, and I’m currently living in Washington, DC. It still feels weird out here, I grew up outside of Portland, OR (Hillsboro/Aloha/Beaverton to be exact)and I am still a thoroughly Pacific Northwest girl at heart. There are some nice things out here, but it just doesn’t feel like home.
The main reason I’m out here is for law school. I’ll be starting my third and final year this fall. I’m simultaneously terrified and excited to be so close to leaving school for the real world.
My husband and I have been married for coming up on two years this August. No kids so far, largely for current practical impossibilities, but also because as much as the feeling of missing someone is so strong it almost hurts physically sometimes, I’m also terrified and kind of enjoying the freedom of this stage in life.
In between blogging and school, I’m not sure I do too much else. I get overwhelmed cooking, but I love good food, especially the spicy stuff. I also love designing my dream house, and have file upon file of inspirational pictures and hand drawn floor plans. As it is, there is no possible way I’ll ever be able to bring all my fantastic dreams to fruition, but it’s still my favorite way to daydream. When my thoughts are more serious I get easily fired up by feminism, politics, religion and other things that are generally considered impolite dinner conversation.
I found That Wife from weddingbee. I remember beings so excited when an LDS bride popped up when I was planning my wedding, and I wanted to keep watching and reading. It took me a while to get up the courage to start commenting, but now I look at this place as my first gateway into being a semi-active member of the blog world.
Unique thing. Hmm. Well, you were at BYU in Spring of 2007, right? Remember the whole Cheney protests and hububaloo? Well, that was partly me and my husband. We met as fellow officers for BYU Democrats and had just started dating when all that blew up. Suddenly we were spending crazy amounts of time in planning meetings, fielding interviews, publicity, poster making and generally being engulfed in craziness. I don’t know if it was the time spent, the common goal, getting caught up in the intense emotions, or just us, but we fell in love protesting together, and now here we are. So that’s me, still fairly political, outspoken, feeling a bit like a black sheep, very liberal and very in love.

I am glad you are back and more than glad to answer your questions!
Age: 24 (25 in July!)
Location: Maryland, outside of DC. We were lucky enough to find a house on 2+ acres in basically the only rural area outside of DC, and somehow we could afford it!
Hometown: Outside of Troy, NY (about 20 minutes from Albany, 30 from VT or Mass) (rural!)
Profession: Interior designer w/a commercial architecture firm, but I am working on starting my own residential firm so I can work from home, especially when I have kiddies. (www.s-humphreysinteriors.com) Any website ideas? I know it is bad. I would love any tips for starting small/new businesses!
Marital status: Married 1/10/09
Children?: I wish. Nope, we have to pay off some loans, and my husband just plain isn’t ready yet.
Likes or dislikes:
Like- kitties, babies, designing, gardening, reading, the country/farms, sleeping!, cheese.
Dislike- puke, rude people (oh DC Metro…), crowds, sweating
How you found That Wife: I believe from WeddingBee!
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I had open heart surgery when I was 5 months old and have 7 congenital heart defects- none really affect my daily life though. I played ice hockey all through high school and the beginning of college, I truly felt God’s calling to leave my long term boyfriend, hometown, friends, college, major, etc. to transfer to Virginia Tech when I was 19 and what do you know- I found my husband, I loved the school/state/my major, everything. Whoddathunk that He knew what He was doing?
Anything else you think I should know: I love reading your posts- somehow you manage to consistently write things of value…. I never can get up the motivation to go into “real” posts. I mainly stick to cooking and things that don’t really go beyond scratching the surface of my life. I really look up to you for that!
June 30th, 2010 on 11:42 am
I am going to be 30 in a couple of weeks, so 30 it is! I am a married graphic designer living in Philadelphia, and I found your blog after following your story on Wedding Bee. No kids yet, just 2 cats. I like taking pictures, but I am not a photographer by any stretch of the means and I think that is originally why I started coming here in the first place. I like food, exercising (which is good given that i love food so much), speaking Spanish, traveling, wine and being in the sun. I dislike cantaloupe too, just like Katy above! I am also not too fond of cigarettes, mean people, or cleaning maggots out of my trash can which is something i unfortunately have to do tonight. sorry that was gross.
Come over and see what I am up to some time

I love get-to-know-you posts
* 24
* Knoxville, TN (also my hometown)
* Freelance graphic designer by night (and by love), web analyst for a newspaper company by day
* Married for just over a year
* No children yet. We’re currently loving our new roles as aunt and uncle to a 9-week old, though!
* I followed you over from WeddingBee. You were always one of my favorites!
* I didn’t learn how to ride a bike until I was 23. My husband threatened to not take me on our honeymoon if I didn’t learn! I learned though, don’t you worry
* Dream life circumstances: SAHM with a freelance design/photography business on the side… Also, I don’t always agree with everything you say, but I always respect your opinions. You’ve made me understand the importance of doing my research when it comes to…everything really. When my husband and I do decide to try to have children, I will come back to things you’ve posted about, talked about, and researched on as a starting point for my research. I may not come to the same conclusion that you did, but I will put forth the effort to research and not just accept the status quo. That is directly attributable to you

Happy to see you blogging again!
Age – 37
Location – Charlotte, NC area
Hometown – State College, PA / Virginia Beach, VA
Profession – Instructional Designer / Business Analyst
Marital status – Married, 3rd anniversary this November
Children – Expecting #1 on 1/1/11! Two awesome stepkids
Likes or dislikes – Love books and great movies, travelling (though we don’t do that much these days), cooking (though I spend more time sleeping right now)and reading fun, insightful blogs!
How you found That Wife – Followed you from Weddingbee! I got hooked on that site when I was planning my wedding and your posts were one of the reasons!
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future – I had a funky 18th century Scottish-inspired wedding. Husband in a kilt, I was in a corsetted gown, bagpipes and a handfasting hybrid ceremony. No one in my family had ever seen anything like it!
June 30th, 2010 on 11:54 am
Yay, I’m so glad you’re back! I don’t comment on here all that often, but I have your blog in my Google reader and look forward to your posts. Here’s a little about me:
I’m 28, living in San Diego, grew up in Pennsylvania Amish Country & Maryland coastline, married with no kids, and I followed you from Weddingbee. Likes: writing, reading, cookies, and Anthropologie clothing. Dislikes: gum popping, gossip, and when people who are younger than me call me “hon.”
For the quirky thing, let me direct you again to where I grew up: Pennsylvania Amish Country is the embodiment of quirky. And also the embodiment of the smell of cow poo.
And my high school boyfriend was a Mormon. He was always and is still one of the best people I know.

Hi! I’m Kate!
I live near Charlotte, NC.
My hometown is a teeny tiny little place called Mt. Pleasant, NC.
I’m currently way over my head in nursing school. I’ll be an RN in December! Woo!
I’m engaged to be married on August 14th of this year!
No kids yet, but I’ve got a ragin’ case of baby fever.
I like your blog. I like OMGMom’s blog. I like Kelle Hampton’s blog. I like reading. I like my dogs. And I like that you stand up to all the hate you receive, I don’t like people who sit back and take it. Go you!
I was a WeddingBee reader who found OMGMom’s blog and linked over to yours. To be honest, I kind of pseudo-stalked you. I went back and read almost every post you’ve ever posted. Weird, I know.
One quirky thing about myself is when I was about 10, I had already lost my baby teeth and my permanent teeth had grown in, and my dentist found a third set of front teeth waiting to knock my permanent teeth out. Freaky. But don’t worry, they were removed, and I have excellent dental health!
Seriously though, your blog is amazing, you are incredibly brave to share your entire life on the internet, and people who disagree with you should do so nicely.
June 30th, 2010 on 12:11 pm
Hi Jenna,
I found you back when you were blogging on Weddingbee and you were one of my favorites since you’re from Royal City and I’m from Kennewick. Currently living in Spokane with my husband and 4 fur babies. No kids (yet!). I’m a Coug, a Construction Manager, I like to bake, and love reading your blog!
June 30th, 2010 on 12:12 pm
Hi Jenna – You and I made our first blog acquaintance a couple weeks ago when I commented after your “day in the life” in photos retrospective. You were gracious enough to write me back (to help me out with the adorable Mane Man onesie for my nephew), that it is only fair that I comment on this post as well!
Age: 30
Location: SF Bay Area
Hometown: Northern Santa Barbara County. My hometown is infamous as being the setting for the Michael Jackson trial, and famous as being the setting for the movie Sideways…beautiful wine country.
Profession: Attorney
Marital status: Married, still in the throes of newlywedded bliss!
Children?: Not yet, but DH and I plan to start “expecting to expect” as you would say, in a couple of months!
Likes or dislikes: I love – weekends in Lake Tahoe, dogs, cooking with DH, red wine, music, reading, and photography. Dislikes – tardiness, gossip, and people who go out of their way to be mean (you know what I’m sayin!)
How you found That Wife: You were my faaaave Bee back in your Avo days; you infuse your writing with such spirit, vivaciousness, and an open heart. I hope you will always hold onto those things.
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: In college I learned how to drive a hay baler and tractor – I bet we have that in common!
Anything else you think I should know: You are fabulous and don’t ever forget it!
June 30th, 2010 on 12:13 pm
Welcome back Jenna! Your blog has become a daily part of my work lunch ritual. (I eat at my desk.) So I missed you!

Hi hi!
- I am 29 years old.. 30 is sneaking up pretty fast!
- I live in beautiful Colorado and teach high school Social Studies. But I am off for the summer which is WONDERFUL.
- I have been married for almost 4 years to another Social Studies teacher (we met at work and it was quite the scandal to all the 16 year old students).
- We just had our first baby boy, Paul, in April. I especially love reading about your little man and the post that you did that documented every part of your day. I was nodding my head in agreement with each step and ALL that feeding. It was exhausting to read, but it is more exhausting to live!
- I like chocolate, when my husband does the dishes, having dates w/ my girlfriends without the baby!
- I dislike people who do not return their grocery carts to the designated grocery cart place because sometimes you think you have found the money parking space only to discover that it is cluttered with carts. Gets me every time.
- Pretty sure I found your blog through OMG Mom.
- Quirky- I hate turning off lights, I would keep every light on in our house if my husband would let me and I didn’t feel like I was an Earth murderer. My closet is alphabetized by color. Seriously. It’s gross.

Hi!
Age: 26
Location : California
Hometown : Also in California. Southern part about an hour from the ocean.
Profession : teacher
Marital status : married one year on July 5th it’s coming up!
Children? : Not yet!

How you found That Wife : Weddingbee while planning my own wedding. I think?
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future : hmm…I am a huge Harry Potter nerd. I majored in English and a lot of my fellow students teased me for liking the series so much. I guess English majors should only read Tolstoy?
I am the oldest of 5 children. My youngest sibling (and only brother!) is only 8!
Anything else you think I should know : I really enjoy reading your blog.
June 30th, 2010 on 12:40 pm

Ok, about me:

Age: 21
Location: Wichita, KS

June 30th, 2010 on 12:41 pm
Age: 31
Hometown: North Canton, OH
Profession: Wedding Photographer
Marital Status: Married 3 years
Kids?: No kids (have to plan around weddings that are booked over a year in advance – not easy!)
Likes: reading (I read 100+ a year), travel, blogs, the internets, twitter, hammocks, thunderstorm, manners, animals
Dislikes: egotism, rudeness, bugs, fire ants (just got attacked for my first time yesterday HOLY COW they hurt!), onions
How I found you: I found you originally though Wedding Bee, then again through a recommendation from my past bride/friend/wedding coordinator Heidzillas.
Quirky/Unique thing: I’m allergic to cold temperatures and one of the only cases in the world where I was born with it and never grew out of it (if you are both with it you typically grow out of it, if you get it later in life, it’s usually due to another disease).
June 30th, 2010 on 12:41 pm
So glad to have you back! I’ve been reading your blog since back in March when we had our first childbirth class together. You emailed all of us needing a ride, and you had the links to your sites in your email. I have enjoyed reading about your mothering & entrepreneurial adventures! I would love if you stopped by my site to visit http://www.mommijewel.com.
I am 27 & live in Irving, TX. I own a contract catering business, where I provide the service aspect of catering to restaurants that don’t have the funds or the time to do so. I am not married just yet, but soon I will likely marry the father of my child. Isaiah is 5 weeks old now, born at home with the wonderful midwife Sarah.
These days I am loving when I have time to get things done & getting to know my new son. I am disliking the lack of sleep that comes with it. And I’m hating my last school term because it’s wasting my time!
One quirky thing, hmmm… I was born in a small town in Hawaii on a quaint street in the only house there that had electricity & running water. The neighbors were all there to experience my arrival!
June 30th, 2010 on 12:47 pm
Age: 24
Location: Northern Illinois
Hometown: A super small town with a funny name about an hour outside of Chicago.
Profession: I do internal reporting for one of the countries largest life insurance companies.
Marital status: Married for 10 wonderful months
Children: Maybe at some point but the whole idea of being in control of another persons life scares the crap out of me.
Likes: PINK! I also like dogs (especially my adorable rescue), good natured debates (best way to learn something new), and cooking.
Dislikes: onions
How you found That Wife: Someone posted a link to it on weddingbee and I have been hooked ever since.
One quirky thing about yourself: I love buying cans of tomato sauce. I buy several every week. Really doesn’t make any sense, even to me.
Anything else you think I should know: You are one of my favorite bloggers!

I love watching sports but cannot play sports whatsoever.. I ALWAYS get injured and I am so darn clumsy.. but somehow I love to dance and can dance.. figure that one out.

I’m 32 years old, living in Los Angeles, but I’m originally from Brasil. I work in accounting today, but used to be a Psychologist in Brasil. I’ve been living in the States for a little over 6 years now. I moved here because of my (now) husband. We had been dating long distance for 2 years, and it was not fun! We don’t have kids together yet, we’ll start trying this year, but I have a 14 year old stepdaughter.
I have no idea how I got to your blog, but I have been following you for a few months now!
You can blow milk out of your eye? I’d love to see that! That for sure something I’ll never forget about you! Unfortunatelly I have nothing that interesting to tell you, so maybe you’ll have to remember me as “the brazilian”?

•Anything else you think I should know – I don’t have a blog b/c I can’t think of a name. Once I do I’ll let you know.

Age: 27
Location: Fishers, IN
Hometown: Milwaukee, WI
Profession: Admin
Marital Status: Not married
Children: Baby #1 on the way (18 weeks pregnant)
Likes: feeling the movement of our sweet baby, getting a belly and not having to try to suck it in, Ice cream Dislike: not being able to drink coffee, eat sushi, constipation, people using the term “bastard”
I found “That Wife” from our mutual friend Amy, although she’s nearing her wedding date, she’s (least not to my knowledge) not nearing pregnancy, but is obsessed with “mom blogs”
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: Not really quirky, but I contacted you way early in my pregnancy in hopes that you can do our maternity pictures cause I love the work you do! Still no plan for a location, but wanted to make sure you were available AFTER you move!

I’m glad you’re back; I hope your vacation/blogcation was relaxing.
I’m 33 living in the DC area. I’m originally from Maine, moved away for college and to work for a while, moved back for law school, met my husband at a bar (I never, ever, ever, thought I would meet someone at a bar). He’s a Navy pilot so after we were engaged I moved to FL and started working for my lawyer-ish job from home. Then we got married at my parents’ house in Maine last September and moved to DC. Whew, that’s how I’m here for now with a husband who’s home 50% of the time, a dog, and no kids.
I blog about our home projects at http://www.ourlittlebeehive.com and while I love our home I want desperately to move back to Maine. I hated it growing up but cry when I see “visit Maine” commercials on TV. You can remember me as the girl who couldn’t wait to move away from home but wants nothing more than to go back. I’m the “grass is not always greener” girl!
I found you well over a year ago on Weddingbee. You and Mandy are the only old bees whose blogs I still keep up with, although I still wonder about some women who never really finished their wedding recaps.
I talk about bloggers all the time as if I know you all. I’m really happy that I’m not the only person who does this!

Welcome back Jenna!
I’m Amy, 28, living in Eugene, Oregon for 2 more weeks before a big move to Northern California!
I recently graduated with my Masters in Social Work and just (like, *just* this morning) accepted a research job at the San Francisco VA. Tres exciting.
My husband and I just celebrated our 2nd anniversary last week!
No children yet (other than our dog, of course), but it’s definitely in the plans for the future and I couldn’t be more excited about it.
I like baking, berry picking, wearing flipflops, and taking naps. I dislike cilantro A LOT.
Pretty sure I found you through WB, I know we were planning our weddings around the same time.
One semi-quirky thing is that I’ve hated exercise my whole life but I find myself training for a half marathon in October and I still can’t believe I’m actually enjoying it, as much as my insecurities try to resist.
Hugs, Jenna!!

Hi Jenna. SO happy you’re back to blogging. I read this post and thought it’s funny how you think you know someone from reading their blog but really, we dont know each other. Age I’m turning 30 in September, and I’m looking forward to it.

One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future – hmmmm most people remember my weird name. Draya is my full first name. Ann is my middle name. I was suppose to be Ann Draya or Andrea but they were hippies and thought Draya Ann would be cool. Funny thing is, my best friend’s name is Andrea!
Anything else you think I should know – I’m short. 5 foot nothing. And people stop me on the street all the time to tell me I have very blue eyes.
Okay, enough about me. can’t wait to see all your upcoming posts!

Hi Jenna! I’m not really a full-time commenter, but here you go anyway (if it was me, I’d be keeping all sorts of statistics about these replies and I would want to have a full set!) I’m 26 as of last Friday and live in Minneapolis, although I grew up in Connecticut. I’m in graduate school for physical therapy, getting married in August. No kids, unless you count the two cats. I like waterparks, baseball (go Twins!) and condiments. I dislike people who use bad grammar and/or walk slowly in the middle of the pathway. I found you because, well, you’re taking photos at my wedding! And I guess I found you for that through my sister Emily (of Peach & Pearl and Southern Weddings), who I’m guessing found you through SW. Something quirky…I’ve played in a handbell choir since I was 10, and we’re having one at our wedding – yes, our outdoor wedding on an island you can’t drive to. Let me tell you, my thinking-things-through skills are AMAZING. Oh, and I don’t have a blog, but you should comment on Em’s! (I know you read it anyway).

Oh man, Jenna. You’re gonna have a LOT of reading to do!! Ok, here I go:
-Age: 24
-Location: recently relocated to the DC area from Cleveland, OH.
-Hometown: Lakewood, OH, suburb of Cleveland.
-Profession: Um, you’re like the 3rd person I’ve told this to, but I quit my job today. So as of now I’m unemployed.
-Marital status: Married just over a month ago!
-Children?: Nope, none yet. I want to wait til I’m 28-29 to start TTC.
-Likes or dislikes: Likes: carbs, celeb gossip, dancing, make up, my cats, weddings, pictures, my husband (well, I *love* him), sarcasm. Dislikes: tardiness, oddly textured food (including most veggies and baked fruit), snow, and people who are mean to Jenna.
-How you found That Wife: Followed you from WB!
-One quirky thing: I asked my husband and he said my “ability to make myself laugh.” Which is so true. I honestly crack myself up. And I say that out loud multiple times a day. I genuinely think I’m really funny. Josh won’t freely admit it, but he thinks I’m funny, too
Anyway, glad you’re back!! My blog is linked in my name. It’s a wedding blog and I’m gearing up for recaps and hopefully a newlywed blog sometime in the not-so-distant future.

Hi Jenna!
I’m an almost 30 year old married gal living in your home stated (but in Seattle) named Elyssa. I work in the commercial fishing industry (which could be my wacky fact). I’ve been a reader of yours from Weddingbee from before your wedding. We don’t have any kids yet. I hate nuts (including peanut butter) and my dog licking my toes. I love Laffy Taffy and butterscotch. I have a blog, twentyfivefifty.com, which is a random assortment to sarcastic humor and our travel pictures. I even have people that view it that I’m not related to! Score for me
June 30th, 2010 on 2:29 pm
Hi, I’m Lydia. We’ve tweeted to each other. I’m almost 30 and live in Kentucky. Despite that, I’m hugely liberal and progressive. I’m an accountant by day and don’t fit the stereotype. I’m creative and accounting is not.
I married, last year, and followed your wedding story on WB just as you were wrapping up your recaps. I read more and followed you here. I like that we are very different, as I think having a diverse set of people to draw from is a good thing (inspirationally and experientially).
We do not have children and don’t currently plan to.
People think it’s odd that I enjoy whitewater kayaking and quilting. They are two VERY different things!

Glad you’re back! I missed reading.
I’m 22 years old, living in Austin TX, but originally from St. Louis, MO. I’m headed back there this weekend actually and am so excited. As far as my profession goes, I’m “working on it”. Basically I hate what I was trained and taught to do in college and am working on some other things now. If you wind up keeping up with me, I’ll update you
. I’ve been married for 3 and half months now. No kids yet, we’re hoping to wait a while but whatever God wants for us, we’ll take. I like reading, blogging, crafting, learning to cook, playing with my brand new puppy, and spending time with my girlfriends. I don’t like blog trolls, doing the dishes, forgetting to wear deodorant (hello Texas!), and beer. I found That Wife from the Bee. Something quirky about me is that before I got married, I refused to high-five anyone except my fiance, but after the wedding (at the reception actually) I’ll high-five anyone. I’m just trying to establish myself in blogland and on twitter and I’d be honored if you’d follow me on both or either.

• I’m 29, which is terribly hard to say. Though I’m thinking I’ll be like my Nanny and stay 29.
• I live in Sugar Land, TX….yes that is the name of the town, it’s outside of Houston.
• My hometown? Well I was born in Michigan, but grew up in Texas.
• I’m in marketing/PR for an oil and gas business, but am planning on opening up a bakery with my sister.
• I’m single, which is hard when all of my friends are married.
• No children yet, but I totally have baby fever and love cuddling them, my poor puppy and kitty have to put up with me.
• I like, no love my family and friends. I like the beach and sunshine and cupcakes.
• I dislike people who don’t accept their responsibilities.
• I found you through Weddingbee I’m sure and then just kept following you.
• I can’t blow milk out of my eye, but I graduated from high school in Coppell, which is an odd random fact because most people have no clue where the heck Coppell is.
• I really can’t think of anything else I think you should know…..oh I took online courses for college through BYU.

•I’m a Legal Assistant and I hate my job. Big time. I’ve been doing it for about four years and I just can’t anymore. I’m going back to school in the Fall to get a few credits in Education so I can teach, which will hopefully feel more meaningful than helping insurance companies screw people like you and me.
•I’ve been married for three years and they’ve been the best of my life.
•We’ve been trying to conceive for about half a year and are hoping to be blessed sometime soon!
•Likes – I’m obsessed with books. I go through them like candy. And I bake a LOT, especially cupcakes – I used to sell them out of my parent’s bakery, but I had to give it up when I got too busy and didn’t have time to do it anymore.
I don’t like negative people. And they’re hard to avoid when you work in the legal field.
• I actually only started following your blog recently. I’ve been following OMGMom for a while and she linked to one of your posts. T1 is adorable and I especially liked the post where you gave us a play by play of what a normal day is like for you. Since my husband and I want to have kids soon, it was like a glimpse into what my life will be like eventually
•My middle name is Star. People always ask me if I’m making it up, but no. My grandmother’s middle name is “Estrella”, which in Spanish means “Star”, so in a way I am named after her.

Hi Jenna! Great idea on getting to know your readers!
I’m 29 years old
I’m from Toronto, Ontario
I am a high school English and history teacher
I am a newlywed (got married in March)
I don’t have any children yet but hope to start trying very soon.
I looooooooooove to blog and read blogs but don’t have the time to write as often as I’d like to. I dislike snarkiness. When a student of mine gets snarky with me, it makes my blood boil.
I found “That Wife” through another Bee’s blog – it probably was Kasia Fink’s'…
I can’t think of anything quirky about me so let me leave it at this and I hope you visit my blog soon!
June 30th, 2010 on 3:04 pm
I’m glad you’re back and recharged. Family is great for that.
I don’t comment very often, but I read it all. I appreciate, and respect your courage in sharing as much as you do.
I am…
28.
in Pasadena, California.
from Wichita, Kansas.
currently a full-time student, working toward a nursing degree.
married (you and I got married the same day).
do not have kids yet, but my goodness is the pull getting strong.
a fan of good food, especially with good friends, time with my husband, my dog, good books and some trashy TV.
not a fan of people who speak before thinking, pickled beets, and group projects.
I started following you as Miss Avocado and have read you since.
I am one of the few people you might come across who is not a fan of the weather in southern California. Way to monotonous for my taste, I like seasons, real, definitive seasons.
Reader intros are a great idea. Looks like you have your work cut our for you though. I look forward to seeing you over at http://october12-thedayafter.blogspot.com/ when you can!

Yay, you’re back!
Maybe the fact that I’m a caver? I know – when I was little and there was still had religious education in primary school I thought the words to “Let us praise the name of Jesus” was “Lettuces praise the name of Jesus” and would sing it at home.
I feel a bit silly posting here as this is my first comment, but I’ve been reading for a while now, so hopefully comments will follow. I’m 25, from New Zealand and my hometown is Kaitaia (a teeny, tiny place at the top of the country). I got married in January this year and found your blog That Bride during the wedding planning. No kids yet, we plan to do some travel first. I’m a PhD student in microbiology (finishing this year), but am planning on going into teaching at a university level once I’m done. I like outdoor activities and am love scuba diving, caving, abseiling and skiing (both water and snow). I love to read. I dislike terrible grammar in official documents and by newsreaders. My quirky thing was going to be that I’m from New Zealand, but I see you have two other posts from there already!

Hi Jenna!
My name is Amy and I am 27 years old. I am from Wisconsin, where I was born and raised. Right now I work as a jack-of-all-office-trades (taxes, HR, invoicing, etc) for a small company, but I am thinking about taking the LSAT and going back to law school after I get married in the fall (100 days from tomorrow, WHOA!). I don’t have any kids yet but I am looking forward to having some in a few years (maybe 4? We want a bigger family!).
Loves: Thunderstorms, Popcorn, Eggs Benedict, reading (like 2-3 books a week, seriously!), going out to eat for fabulous food & wine, swimming, weddings, TV dramas like SVU, Fringe, Lost, etc, and Disney movies
Dislikes: Bad drivers–and there are a lot of them!, micro-management, and unloading the dishwasher
I don’t remember how I found That Wife, but I’ve been reading for forever, it seems! I don’t comment that often but I really do love reading about your life and adventures.
Something quirky about me is that I am one of those lucky few who can’t taste the bitter taste a lot of people can when you drink orange juice after brushing your teeth. Is that quirky enough? Haha!
One last thing I think you should know is that I really love reading your blog. Even though I might not always agree with everything you say about many political or social issues, I think it’s awesome to “know” people with different viewpoints and it is such a pleasure reading your posts. You really are a gifted writer and photographer and I wish we could be friends in real life!

Yay! Glad you’re back from your blog break. Here’s a little about me:
• Age: 28
Maybe I’ll go back to updating it soon.
• Location: San Diego, California
• Hometown: Same
• Profession: Real Estate Agent (and assistant), but I really want to be a SAHM
• Marital status: Married 2 years, together for 11 years.
• Children: Expecting a boy in August.
• Likes: reading, traveling, photography, sweets, the beach and good food.
• Dislikes: acid reflux, seafood of any sort, people who are intentionally rude, disrespectful and/or judgmental, not having the finances to be a SAHM.
• How you found That Wife: Weddingbee.
• One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: Um, I’m learning to speak and write Croatian after visiting Croatia with my husband and his family (his family is Croatian, although he’s 2nd generation American) last year and falling in love with the place.
• Anything else you think I should know:
I have two blogs, one which is private (on Livejournal) and one that is public. Unfortunately the public one hasn’t been updated in a year.
June 30th, 2010 on 3:47 pm
Yay! I’ll play!
–Age: 24
–Location: Stephenville, TX (and in Dallas twice a week)
–Hometown: Temecula, California
–Profession: Full time wedding and portrait photog (full time in the sense that I work 60 hours a week, not just in the sense that I don’t have another job)
–Marital status: married for 2.5 years, together for 7
–Children: One son, 7 year old Jack(mine, but adopted by my amazing husband), and a daughter, 10 week old Dorothy
–Likes: Reading, traveling, photography, my son’s laugh, my husband’s shoulders, and mint chocolate chip ice cream
–Dislikes: Asparagus, back-seat drivers, and jeans I can’t afford
–How you found ThatWife: Through Jenna Cole. I was scoping for newbie photographers in my area to refer when someone couldn’t afford us, and I found you!
– Quirky Thing: I’m a little obsessed with symmetry. Like, to the point where if I run into a door and hit it with my left arm, it will bother me TERRIBLY until I go back and do it with my right arm. It’s a serious mental illness.
– As for other things, you know pretty much everything about me that’s public, like the fact that our babies are just days apart!
Glad your blogcation was productive!

Yay! So glad you’re back!!
I’m Amy. I’m a 27 year old high school English teacher living in the Los Angeles Area. I love my husband and our two dogs (furbabies). We are going to start TTC this month! I like real, honest people. I dislike the acronyms LMAO and FML. The first time I flew on an airplane I was 7 and by myself… Is that a quirky fact? Ummm… I was an only child until I was 18. My brother (same mom, different dad) is now 8. I love him like he is my own child. I get really bad anxiety, so if I met you in person I would probably turn bright red and mumble like an idiot. I would be honored if you visited my blog!!

Great idea! On a side note, I was excited to see that Law School Wife was the first commenter here- I had no idea that she read your blog and you are both in my daily read blog list!

Hi Jenna!
I’m 27 years old, my location and Hometown is Coahuila, Mexico. I’m a Computer System Engineer.
I’ve been married for 1 year and 4 months. We have a 12 weeks little girl, Megan Alexandra.
I love to be with my family. I like to take pictures all the time but don’t have a good camera like you, I have fun anyway. I love to read blogs, watch tv series, go to movies and sleep. I don’t like doing the dishes, cook (but I have to sometimes). I hate to be angry.
I found you when I was looking for ideas for my wedding, I found WeddingBee and I loved the Avocado’s posts and then continue with my looking I found That Bride and I figured out later that Miss Avocado and That Bride where the same person, that was fun. And since that time I almost every day visit you blog.
One quirky thing of me is that I have a “blog” about my life: my wedding, my pregnancy, my little girl, but I write it like a secret journal, anyone else has read it.
Anything else you think I should know is that I love reading your post, your tweets, I think you are a good and funny person. I love the idea that T1 and Megan have the same age.
I hope you understand what I write because my english is really bad, that why I almost never leave you a comment.
Thanks to do this, because is a great idea to make feel your readers near you.
Take Care

Age – 31 (sigh)
Location – Florida
Hometown – Florida
Profession – it’s a secret
Marital status – married 11/22/2008
Children? – no, not yet. Still up for debate.
Likes or dislikes – I love animals, Orla Kiely handbags, cute babies, riding my bike an a lazy
Sunday afternoon, ice cream, cake, and any kind of cheese.
How you found That Wife – Weddingbee. You were introduced as a new bee when I started my wedding planning. I remember that readers found you so polarizing because you were not technically engaged yet at the time you were chosen as a bee. I couldn’t exactly understand how someone they’d never met could illicit such a response. I found it interesting. I still do, as your views still seem to stir up such emotion in readers. I personally find your views, whether different than mine or not, interesting. The make you who you are, and I like that.
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future (this is the point where I always say that I raised pigs in my front yard growing up, or that I can blow milk out of my eye, or that my husband grew up in Poland)
I’m loyal to a fault and can’t tell a lie if my life depended on it. Believe me, I’ve tried.
Anything else you think I should know – Hmmm….I once stabbed my brother in the nose with a pencil. Oh yeah, it was the middle of the night and he was asleep. The tip of the pencil broke off in the cartilage in his nose and we had to go to the hospital to get it removed. I was 4 he was 7 years old. Other than that, I am an extremely nice person and wouldn’t hurt a fly, I swear.

I am 25, living in the amazing city of Chicago. I’m not sure I have a place I call my hometown. I was born in Chicago but have lived here, Tennesse, Oregon, Arizona and now back to Chicago. I am married just over a year now. No kids yet but do want some in the future. I am an engineer and work in the construction business.
I found this blog through the Weddingbee network back during my wedding planning days.
Likes: Crafty things. Sewing, painting, cooking.
Dislikes: Cleaning…but I’m not a slob, I promise. Exercising….I’m really working on this one.
I’m one of 9 kids (all from the same parents). My parents were immigrants from Romania and I married a Romanian guy. I live in a city condo and am planting a vegetable garden on my balconey in planters. Can’t wait for the fresh tomatos this summer.
I think you’ll really enjoy Chicago. The Midwest people are the nicest. Plus the city is full of so many great things to do.

I’m glad you’re back and fingers crossed that people stop being meanies. I just don’t understand the point of leaving rude or hurtful comments on someone’s blog. So silly.
I followed you over from Weddingbee… I’m a little ashamed that I’m twenty-four and no where near married (currently single), but I’ve been reading Weddingbee for years now. I just really love weddings, but not particularly in any kind of way where I’m dreaming of my own, they’re just so beautiful… I read a whole host of wedding blogs now and it’s one of my favorite things! I used to just stop by That Bride/That Wife occasionally but finally added you to my Reader and I’m glad I did!
I live in Atlanta where I’m in law school, hoping to practice environmental law when I get done.
I live for traveling, and have been all over–including to Poland, so whenever y’all move there I’ll be excited to read about the process. I’d love to live overseas at some point. I’m headed to Australia for a few weeks next month.
I’m a strict (no milk, no eggs) vegetarian and I’m proud of you for doing a few meatless meals and trying to eat more sustainably/humanely produced meat. I think it’s awesome, and super good for everyone!
Sorry for rambling! I’ve been a long-time reader but never really commented!

I’m debating whether I should go and get some sort of pastry chef certification and/or hone my cake decorating skills so I can decorate cakes for real. But, I’m going to try the whole engineering thing first.

Likes or dislikes: Oh man… where do I start?! I like reading (Blogs and books), long walks, knitting, crafting, hanging out with friends. I dislike mean people, being yelled at and coffee. I know I’m odd.
How you found That Wife: Weddingbee
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: When I was a pre-teen, I worked at the Renaissance Fair for 3 summers with my mom. She owned a shop there, so I was a “shop wench” all summer. It was a blast and I ate so many of those big pickles I’m surprised I’m not one.
The only other thing I think you should know is that I love reading your blog! I was so upset that all the mean people made you want to re-think your blogging that I even talked to my husband about it for like an hour one night. When I was done, he asked where we had met. He was SERIOUSLY confused that I was so bothered by something that happened to someone that I didn’t even really know exactly. Clearly he isn’t a blog reader!

Likes: cooking, goofing around with my husband, reading, dancing, talking with my family, trashy reality tv, meeting new people
Dislikes: mayonnaise, when my husband travels on business, people who chew with their mouths open
How I found That Wife: Weddingbee
How to remember me: I used to work for AccuWeather as a radio forecaster. I didn’t come up with the forecast, but I was the voice on the radio!
I love your blog! Sometimes I feel like a creep for being so interested in your life / the lives of other bloggers. Oh well, I guess I got a little lonely when I moved to Williamsburg and blogs have been a nice way for me to feel connected to the outside world. I particularly enjoy reading about your son / your pregnancy and the LDS faith. I am Catholic, but pretty much all of the other married people at my school are LDS, and I am interested in learning about your beliefs.
I don’t comment very often – usually I feel as though whatever I would say has already been said, or I am just breezing through your post on my google reader. I guess it would be nice of me to comment more often. I would never say hurtful things about your choices – I think that people who do that are ridiculous.
Funny thing – I read your haircut post on my reader and I thought nothing of it, I was just like, “oh, that’s nice.” I didn’t realize the comments were mean until you and OMGmom pointed it out, then I had to go read them – people are CRAZY. You are not.

How you found That Wife: through a high school friends blog
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I grew up participating in Civil War reenactments…hoop skirt and all!
On another note… I love your blog. I often find myself not being able to read the comments people post (or leaving any myself) because I hate to see people be rude to you, considering I’m sure they don’t even know you. I don’t understand how people can be so judgmental.
PS did I mention I love your blog!

* Location: Southern California
* Hometown: Military Brat but consider Germany home.

* I’m 75% Chinese, 12.5% Indonesian & 12.5% Dutch. English if my first language. Lived and grew up in Germany. Speak German as it were my native tongue. People get confused when I tell them I’m an American, since I’m native fluency in another language. They ask how I know how to speak English so well.
On another note, I’m glad you’re blogging again. I’ve emailed you a few time on your Jenna Cole facebook page & your hubby was kind enough to write his conversion story for me. I don’t comment often since I have you saved in my google reader.

Welcome back! Glad you had a good trip and time with your family – I’m looking forward to visiting my family in Baltimore this weekend (and to answer one of your questions, that’s my hometown). I live in North Carolina now and work at a boring 9-5 type job. I’m hoping to work on my photography/painting skills and do some freelancing and not have to work a boring job sometime in the next few years! I am married – a little before you in Sept. 2008 – but I found you on Weddingbee while wedding planning. No kids….yet…..really want one, but still working on convincing Husband that this is a good time to start adding to our family. I like cooking, photography, painting, movies and air-popped popcorn.
I can’t think of too much that’s quirky about me….but just wanted to say that I really enjoy reading your blog and think that you offer a lot of good, well-thought out posts – I don’t have to agree with everything, but I respect your thoughts and your willingness to share them with all of us on the web. Thanks!
oh – I thought of something quirky…I used to really like to untwist metal coat hangers. My mom had to start buying plastic because I had dismantled too many to turn into art projects or something. Yeah….really random.

Hi
I’m Stephanie, 28, and I live in Norfolk, Virginia. I am recently married (May 1, 2010!) and found you through my weddingbee addiction. I was born in Farmville (seriously), VA. I am a home based counselor. I work with kids in their homes–kids who are on probation, foster kids, basically teens in big trouble, mostly. No kids yet, hopefully when I’m 30. I LOVE comfort food, reading anything–seriously, blogs, cereal boxes, any book I can find, and hanging out with my family.
When I was little, I hung out with my boy cousins all the time, built forts in the woods (cut trees down with machetes!) and did other tom-boy thing. Fast forward to being married and trying to be domestic, and the second week I was married, I cut off a chunk of my pointer finger trying to make dinner for my husband. Obv better at the tomboy stuff

Hi Jenna!
I have been reading you for a while now but I am one of those silent readers that only comment twice a year. My blog is all in spanish (I do have some posts in English here and there, I blogged in English for a specific time of my life and the English posts start here in case you are interested http://melissita.blogspot.com/2009/06/my-face-is-in-pain-because-it-is-too.html )

June 30th, 2010 on 9:49 pm
So glad you are back – but even more glad that your bloggy break was a good one.
I will remind you that I’m one of the people (the only person?) who read you back when you were That Girl, when I was newly into wedding-planning blogs. Don’t remember how I found you, but I’ve read you through That Bride and now That Wife. I am in it for the long haul.
I’m 29, living in the midwest, but grew up in a town of 10,000 people in the Great Plains. Lots of people don’t think that’s small, but my town was the biggest one for hundreds of miles.
My husband is a medical resident; I’m a freelance writer. We have no kids and no pets at this point. I like poetry, Chopin, Bravo reality shows, contemporary fiction, spicy food, snow, grammar, and guacamole. I dislike text messaging, tomatoes, rudeness, and germs.
Something that you (and TH, perhaps?) might find interesting about me is that I have been to Poland twice – once to Warsaw and twice to Krakow. Beautiful cities, full of history, and filled with some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. My husband spent a month in Krakow teaching at the medical school. He loves languages and we both truly enjoyed our time in Poland, so now we say the Polish version of “bon apetit” before dinner each night. (I don’t know how to spell it, but it sounds like “smahch naygo.”)
It’s so fun to read through everyone’s comments. Welcome back to the blogging world!
June 30th, 2010 on 10:06 pm
So glad you are back and blog rested! I don’t blame you for taking a vacation from the beating.
I’m a first time mom too. My boy is 5 months old! I can’t believe how fast it has gone. Right now I’m a SAHM which I NEVER thought I would enjoy, but they change so quickly and it seems he doesn’t something different everyday. I don’t want to miss a moment of it!
I’ve been blogging for awhile but not as faithfully as I used to. It’s hard to find time for it outside of the boy. I do miss it. I also wish I was as brave as you are to say some of the things I want to!
June 30th, 2010 on 10:11 pm
I’m a 26 year old married actor living in the midwest while my dear hubby of three years is pursuing his JD/MBA. I actually spent part of my high school across the Metroplex from you in Fort Worth. Before that, we moved around a bunch for my mom’s work, so I don’t really have a “hometown”.
For my day job, I plan events for a local non-profit, but my passion is in acting in community theatre that I love. It’s the best.
We have no kids as of yet, but I’m loving the time for just me and hubby right now.
I love horrible television (ironic, as I’m a trained actor, I know) and really cheap wine. I’m a simple date – one drink and I’m almost gone for the night! I also love the idea of becoming a scrapbooker and I have the supplies to prove it, but not one completed album to my name. I can’t clean my house to save my life.
I found That Wife through Weddingbee when I was planning my wedding and followed you over here.
I love reading the stories of your little one and it makes me think that maybe I shouldn’t put off being a mom for so long…

Children: None but I have a ton of nieces and nephews that I spoil like my own
Likes or dislikes: I like: traveling, technology, photography, being creative, the beach, mexican food, baking, my puppies, reading blogs
I dislike: rude, close minded, fake people
How you found That Wife: I read your blog when you were That Girl – a former client sent me a link and I’ve followed you since then
One quirky thing: I am half filipino and half persian. I look totally filipino but with a super hard persian name, which confuses people.
Thank you for being so open and honest. I always look forward to checking your new posts!

Oh, Jenna, I’m glad you’re back. I’m one of those silent readers who never comments, but I’ll try to change that.
I live in Southern California and grew up in Utah. I’m 25 and have been married for a year. We’re both undecided on the children thing. I found That Wife through Weddingbee. I like summer lightning storms and happy endings. I’m not a big fan of chocolate. I’ll eat a handful of M&M’s and not eat chocolate for two months. Our blog is for our families back home, so it’s not terribly interesting if you’re not related to us, but stop by if you want. It’s http://052309.blogspot.com/

* Anything else you think I should know
June 30th, 2010 on 10:38 pm
Yay! I’m glad you’re back! I’ve been following you for quite awhile, but I’m a horrible commenter.
Trying to get better at it! I really appreciate your honesty & openness. And although there’s times that I may not agree with your opinion, I’m always interested in hearing it! Differences make the world go ’round, right?

* Likes or dislikes – Love photography (I have a degree in Illustrative Photography), trashy reality tv, cuddling with my husband & our dogs, toasted bagels and I’m a comment junky too! Dislike – Dishonesty.
* How you found That Wife – I used to read your old blog when you were getting married – can’t remember exactly how I found it but it was after we got engaged, but before I started my own blog and I just LOVED it.
* One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future – My husband and I rocked love heart shaped glasses at our wedding – we’re goof balls.
* Anything else you think I should know – When I was designing my wedding album I must have looked at yours about thirty times – I just love everything about your wedding album – the photos, the layout EVERYTHING. I ended up going with Kiss albums for our album too – Thanks so much for the suggestion – I adore it.
June 30th, 2010 on 11:17 pm
I’m really glad you’re back and that you found your Blogcation refreshing–I’ve been missing your regular updates!
A little about me: I’m a 24 year old married lady from the Chicago suburbs. I’m currently living with my UofC grad student husband in Hyde Park. We don’t have any kids, but we plan to have them in the future. Right now the most sensible thing for us is waiting until he’s done with grad school (he’s getting his PhD in psychology) to even talk about it seriously.
I am currently an administrative assistant at a wealth management firm in the suburbs. I attended a prestigious university and majored in English and Gender Studies, hoping to get a job at a feminist non-profit, so I’m definitely not at my dream job. However, I work for a truly excellent firm that made me realize how much I enjoy helping people out with their finances, so with their help I hope to become a certified financial planner.
Likes and dislikes? I love, love, love to cook. Right now my current cooking obsession is my CSA. My husband and I just started receiving veggies, and the variety has challenged me to try so many things I never would have considered before I was forced to try them. (Biggest surprise: kale chips. They’re surprisingly delicious.) I also love reading (fiction) and writing (non-fiction). I love staying up late and Diet Pepsi and challenging conversations. My dislikes are either petty (getting up early, cucumbers that are not in pickle form, celery sticks) or reflective of my flaws. My biggest dislike is also something I constantly try to improve in myself. I can’t stand close minded people who hate on others unnecessarily, yet I often find myself judging people out of hand instead of getting to know them.
Like many others I found That Wife through Weddingbee. I loved your style and I was impressed with how much your posts challenged my world view, so I had to follow you over here.
One quirky thing about me? I absolutely cannot eat bite sized candies (Skittles, M&Ms, etc) in odd numbers. I must eat them in multiples of two, and preferably in matched colors. If I get odd numbers of a particular color, I pair it with another color that I feel “goes” with it (e.g. red/purple or green/yellow).

Age: 25
Location: York, NE
Hometown: Henderson, NE
Profession: I’m still trying to figure this out. I’m working on my thesis towards my MA in criminal justice, but I get paid to do market research and listen to customer service calls. It pays the bills.
Marital status: Married. It will be a year in September!
Children?: Not yet. I’m thinking we’ll start trying within the next year.
Likes or dislikes: I like to cuddle, cook, craft and peruse blogs to find crafting/cooking ideas. I dislike rude people who think that they are God’s gift to mankind.
How you found That Wife: I loved reading your WeddingBee posts and followed you from there.
One quirky thing: Cats were my best friends growing up and they still hold a special place in my heart (kitty was my first word-yes even before mama). Since kitties were my best friends, I liked to share things with them and I assumed that they liked to share too, so I often ate their cat food. Luckily I’ve grown out of this habit and have not does it since I was like 3.
Anything else you think I should know: I don’t have a blog because I just don’t think I’m that interesting and would probably run out of motivation and things to say. I just really enjoy your blog because we share a lot of the same ideas and view points.

PS- I LOVE AND ADORE YOU! SOOOOO GLAD YOU ARE BACK!

Oh you’re back! I’ve missed you. I read you every day since last September, even if I’ve only commented a couple of times, recently.
My name is Katie, and I’m 27 years old. My current location is Tacoma, WA, but I grew up in Fremont, CA until I was 14, and then Fox Island, WA. I am a social worker in health care. Currently in a two year relationship with my boyfriend Weezer, who lives in Nashville, TN. We don’t have any children, but I can’t wait to have a whole bunch! I love sewing, reading, crafting, being outdoors and being with family. I’m sure I dislike lots, but I try not to dwell on it. I found That Wife via Kalen’s old blog, scribblehoney. I can’t think of a darn quirky thing about myself, although people I know think I’m very quirky. It’s part of my charm.
Again, so glad you’re back!

I am 21 years old, live in Rowlett, Texas where I grew up. But, I am a college student at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, so I’ll be back there in August. I also sell Mary Kay! I am engaged and will be getting married in 37 days! (You are my photographer, and I am SO excited about that!) Give us a few years, and we’ll have some kids. We have 1.5 years of school left, so we need to finish that up before having children. I love reading, taking care of my nephews and niece, and spending time with my sweet fiance. I searched and searched for “Dallas LDS Wedding Photographers” and finally found That Wife! I am now addicted and read it and your formspring constantly!
I’m so glad you’re back!! Oh, and I am terrible at keeping up with my little blog, but I do try from time to time.

Hey
I’m Nicole and I am 19, but 20 in roughly 2 weeks, yay lol.
I live in Brisbane, Queensland Australia. I use to live in Western Australia though. I am a law student in my first year.
I have been with my boyfriend for nearly 6 years. I am a bit too young for children in my eyes lol. I hope to finish my law degree and move out with my boyfriend (we live at his parents house).
I really like running (but I have a stress fracture), being happy and generally not having to stress about anything. I also love reading and eating chocolate. I don’t like fresh tomatoes, meat and lemons lol.
I found That Wife through another blog, however I cannot remember which blog it was. I like this blog because you give real accounts of events i.e. shaving your sons head, follow up from having a baby etc and you don’t sugar coat it. I really likr your honesty. I don’t believe in religion and it’s a touchy subject, so therefore I think it’s good when you talk about LDS faith because it’s really interesting. It’s your blog, so you should talk about it if you want. Also I love the guess posts about people who have converted to your religion.
Oh geez, I cannot think of something quirky lol. Maybe that I am from Australia. I don’t know if you get a lot of readers from here. Ohh I know something lol, I can go cross eyed but one eye continues to look straight lol. Cool, I know….not lol.
Keep up the good work

Hey I’m from Perth too! I noticed you said you find Jenna’s posts about her faith interesting. I thought I’d let you know that Brisbane has a really cool LDS temple! It’s at 200 River Terrace, in Kangaroo Point. It’s a really cool building to drive past/walk around, really beautiful, and it has an awesome view of the river

Jenna, I’m so happy you’re back!
I read this post yesterday and meant to respond but then the work day go the best of me, so here I go now. =)
I am an engaged 24 year old who graduated college 2 years ago, I live in Southern Illinois and I consider it to be my hometown too(My parents moved every 3-4 years while I was growing up, for no reason but yea).
I am a civil engineer and I’m trying to get used to the world from those eyes. I’m no longer a college student but yet I don’t feel like an adult yet.
My fiancee and I are getting married next June and we’ll have been together 7 years at that point so we intend on jumping on the ‘parent’ train pretty quickly. I think thats why I like that wife it lets me know a little bit of what to expect. I loved your birth story and am now obsessed with Everybody Births!
I like your fresh perspective on everything from parenting to photography.
I end up linking over from His Birdies Nest. I read both you and OMGMom and I didn’t read any of your weddingbee stuff. My fiancee and I have been engaged since Feb. 2008 and I got sick of reading wedding stuff very quickly. It gave me too many ideas that I didn’t have the creativeness/spare time to enact, =)
I love the colors yellow and green and my middle name is Sunshine. I think I was destined to like yellow because of this.
I’ve just recently started my blog and I enjoy writing there but its no where near up to par with yours.
Have a great Thursday!

Hometown Philadelphia PA
Profession Business – Project Management
Marital status – I have been dating my boyfriend for a long time. His is finally in his 4th year of medical school and I am in my last year of getting my MBA. Maybe soon we will have enough (or just any) money to get married? Give us another 4 years of horrible resident salary and moving costs and then marriage.
Children? – no, and not for a veryyy long time. We have A LOT of medical school loans to repay.
Likes or dislikes – Love summers, school I want to be in school forever and I hope I can make that happen. Lilly Pulitzer. Philadelphia. Coffee, shopping, riding in the car. My family. Running.
I hate: slow walkers, peas… I really don’t dislike much!
How you found That Wife – I am not really sure. I stumbled upon it? Added it to my bookmarks and have been reading along.
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future – I am 5 11′ love to wear heels making me about 6 something and my bf is 6’5 you can see us coming a mile away.
Anything else you think I should know – I do have to say you do write about very controversial topics. I rarely comment, but I love reading the opinions (of course any that directly bring you down should be removed) but any that argue the topic I think are interesting. I have commented only ONCE on the topic of stay at home parenting. As you can see from my bf and my education I was against it…but again I love being able to defend my position (and again without ever directly attacking you).

Likes or dislikes – I love international travel. I seriously dislike anyone who stands on the left side of esclators. DC Metro riders will understand.
How you found That Wife – Weddingbee. I think we actually got married on the same day!
I don’t have a blog, but I love reading yours!

Wow, I didn’t even realize that I was posting right below you. I am living in southern Maryland and I am in school right now to become a paralegal!

It is your blog and you have every right to censor it. Look at all these readers that you have! Focus on the positive, right?
My info is:
* Age: 28
* Location: Maryland, U.S.
* Hometown: Lexington, Massachusetts, U.S.
* Profession: currently secretary, I have degrees in creative writing and I’m back at school for paralegal studies
* Marital status: single, hoping to be engaged very soon
* Children?: None yet, can’t wait. That clock thing has kicked in big time!
* Likes or dislikes: Um, I dislike arguing and heated discussions. I like people to enjoy each other and be respectful.
* How you found That Wife: I think from searching around for wedding blogs and baby blogs.
* One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I’m pretty quirky. The subject of my blog is actually my biggest quirk, that I’m a convert to a religion that doesn’t generally accept converts. http://whitehindu.blogspot.com
* Anything else you think I should know: I really enjoy your posts and I appreciate your honesty. It helps me to learn what I’ll be in for when I’m finally able to have children.

You’re back just in time Jenna, I was right on the verge of picking up an actual book!
* Age: 21
* Location: Perth, Western Australia
* Hometown: Hobart, Tasmania, Australia
* Profession: Contracts Clerk at a local hospital, full time, and student, full time. AAAHHHHHHH!!
* Marital status: Newlywed
* Babyhunger: EXTREME. But we’ll be waiting till my husband is closer graduation.
* Likes: That my husband’s major (physiotherapy) requires him to massage me frequently. I also like feminism, daydreaming about being a mama, and idolising my old BYU professors.
* Dislikes: Grumpy temple workers, my in-laws when they talk loudly and all at once. Also, they can be sexist (baby boys are still more valuable stock than baby girls… really??) beign from an all-daughter famile, I find that hard handle.
* I’ve come to adore ThatWife since the Mrs. Avocado days on Weddingbee.
* I’ve lived in 3 countries and moved many many times, but the ONLY time in my whole life that I’ve lived more than 5 minutes drive from a beach was when I went to BYU.
* You should probably know that I’m going to print out 9 months worth of ThatWife posts instead of buying that old ‘What To Expect’ book.

Jenna, we’ve already met, but I’m 26/married/lawyer in DC/no kids yet. Army wife with husband currently deployed to Iraq.
But enough about me, I wanted to comment on that picture!!!!!!! Is that really you? I can’t believe how great that shot is!! How in the world did y’all accomplish it!? The Coliseum is always overrun with tourists but this picture looks like you had it all to yourself! And how did you did you position the veil like that?! It’s so great!! I wonder if I somehow missed this on the Bee?

I’m Andrea, a 5th year grad student and I got married last October. I found you on Weddingbee back in the day. Weddingbee got me into crafting and sewing again. Planning a wedding actually made me decide to create an etsy shop. I couldn’t stop doing diy projects after the wedding. I had to keep going!
I’d love if you visited my blog. I just redesigned it last night in fact. The link should be posted above with my name!

One quirky thing about me? I learned to play the bagpipes about ten years ago. I don’t play anymore, but we did have them at our wedding. We’re kind of famous for that at our church!

•Age – 28
•Location – Live in and grew up in Portland, Oregon
•Profession – I’m a lawyer.
•Marital status – newly married!
•Children? – two cats, one husband
•Likes or dislikes – lots of things. I can’t come up with specifics, sad.
•How you found That Wife – WB!
•One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future (this is the point where I always say that I raised pigs in my front yard growing up, or that I can blow milk out of my eye, or that my husband grew up in Poland) – I can solve the Rubik’s cube. In the last two years, I also…graduated from law school, took the bar, passed the bar, got married, and bought a house. I am crazy.
•Anything else you think I should know – I can’t wait to have really cute half-Asian babies. I hope they are as cute as Mandy’s Mia.

Hope I’m not too late to comment!
Welcome back, you were truly missed!
I’m Aubrey, 26, from the Bay Area, CA… born and raised.
I recently married last August to my favorite man in the world. I work for an internet company and work in front of the computer all day – fun stuff.
I learned about you from Weddingbee and fell in love with your class of bees (Espresso, Dumpling, etc). I didn’t know about your personal blog until I somehow stumbled across OMGMom’s! Soo happy!! I missed ya!
No babies yet, but we hope to have one soon enough! We do have 2 english bulldog puppies that keep up busy in the meantime.
I sing in a wedding band and have been doing so since I was 15, but I don’t think that fact’s too quirky…
Oh. I ALWAYS wear heels… you will almost never seem me in flats (even at home). I’m only 5’0” and my hubs is 6’3”, so I feel like I need to wear them to be within his field of vision – ha!

Yay, welcome back! Hope you’re rested from blogging and have you lost weight while on vacation? You look fabulous.
I’m in the late-20′s, married (for 10 days shy of a year), and work as an IT Developer. Used to do Flex/Web/ColdFusion programming for a small, but now I just develop paperwork. It’s fine for a year while husband finishes up his PhD.
We have 2 pets: Angus T Dog and Piper J-3 Cat. They play well together.
I like soccer and football. Used to play one of them professionally.
