While searching for a recipe that would help me understand how to use some ground lamb I bought, I discovered a fun little trick to aid in making your own hamburger patties!
I mix up a variety of ingredients, I think this batch included ground beef, onion, orange bell pepper, barbecue sauce, a bit of cumin, salt, pepper, and I think a bit of chopped garlic.
Take a drinking glass and turn it upside down on a piece of foil cut in half. Crinkle the foil up around the base of the glass. Take the glass away and you have a nice little spot to put your meat in. Take a handful of meat and press it into your mold.

Put your molds in the oven (I think I cook them at like 350 or something) and take them out when they look done to your preference.
This (amazing) burger has: homemade focaccia, lettuce, tomato, avocado, sharp cheddar, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, and my homemade burger patty. So good.

The meat breaks apart almost as soon as you put it on the bun and start eating it, but I like it that way!

Did you make the bread? If so, I’m jealous of your mad baking skills.

Yes, it’s really easy actually. I make the dough in the bread machine and then just let it rise and bake it.

Hmm… I bet that typo is the only time we’ll ever see “take a drinking class” on an LDS blog
LOL I did a double take!
Seriously though, I love that tip. Now I don’t have to purchase a burger press! This sounds like it would work great for sliders!

Looks tasty. I have an awesome turkey burger recipe that I’ll send to you. Calls for shredded carrots and zucchini which, I promise, is better than it may sound!

These look so delicious! I love homemade burgers so much better than restaurant/fast food burgers. I also add bell pepper, onions, and garlic. I also like to add feta cheese to the mix. I will try the drinkling glass technique next time, thanks for the idea. Now I’m hungry for lamb burgers at 9AM, goodness.

Oooo. Thank you for sharing this! I’ve been thinking lately that I want to make my own, but I’ve been hesitant to do so. The one time I did make them, they fell apart on the grill. I might try this and then freeze them afterward.

Yum! I have never had avocado on a burger and I am wondering why. I really love avocado, and they seem like a natural pairing! In fact, I don’t know why I don’t put avocado on EVERYTHING. Mmmm.

I loved eating lamb growing up- we’d have lamb with mint jelly for Christmas dinner instead of ham or turkey. It has such a distinct taste to it.
Do you use a bread machine mix for the bread, or do you mix it yourself? I’ve been meaning to make whole wheat focaccia, but have been to lazy to find a recipe

The pictures from this post are actually pretty old (I actually think i was pregnant!). This is an all white recipe, not a bread mix but one that came with the bread machine booklet. I want to try the half white/whole recipe in the King Arthur cookbook amended how that turns out.

Awesome. Let me know how it works out! I’m trying out a whole wheat pizza crust sometime this week, so fingers crossed it isn’t awful
