I am past due for monetizing my blog. So far past due that when I turn around and look behind me past due is like a little speck in the distance, mocking me for all of the revenue I’ve lost out on. It is time.

The reason I haven’t put up advertising yet is that I want it to be targeted and genuine. I want you to be able to look in my sidebar and see advertisements for places where I would actually visit or shop. Finding advertisers like that takes time, something I always seem to be deficient in. It has come to the point though, where I have less money than I do time, and so I’m ready to act.
I’m going to offer a special introductory rate for blog readers in case any of you would like to advertise your blog or business on That Wife. You’ll get a button in the sidebar (just like those you see forĀ How Joyful and Bien Living), and I’ll write an introductory post highlighting each advertiser and telling everyone why I chose to work with them (and you know it will be genuine because I’m only going to accept advertising from people I would buy from myself!).
Below are some of my stats from Google Analytics* and Feedburner. I’m guessing that some of you have been curious about what kind of traffic That Wife has been pulling, and I must say I’m pretty proud of what I’ve built up over the last two years.
Subscribers: 2,100
Average monthly page views: 99,600
Average unique visitors over the last 3 months: 11,800
There is one drawback to this push for genuine advertising. It means there is a chance that I’m going to tell you I’m not interested if you email me. I hope that if this happens to you, you won’t take it as an insult. I’m not saying that your services are bad, just that they aren’t right for me.
Advertising is open for businesses (including photographers!) and personal blogs. Email me if you’re interested (and I promise to write back quickly, I really do).
*All stats are an average from the last 3 months

I think that only accepting advertising for places you truly connect with is important. Why advertise a service or ideas that you don’t agree with? Makes sense to me and hopefully anyone who is told ‘no’ will take it in stride.

I’ve been wondering about those empty spots for a while now.
Glad your going to fill them!

What a great approach to advertising!
I can personally attest to the fact that my web traffic has gone up considerably – I’ve “met” a lot of new, great people and I love it!

You know who does this really well? Young House Love. None of their sponsors seem off the wall to me, and they also have it worked out with their sponsors, that if someone does chose to purchase a sponsors good or service, there is a small discount for being referred from Young House Love.

Oh but I really dislike how they have a weekly advertisers post. I always skip those.

Yeah I do too, although when I first started reading their blog, I clicked on some of the links in one of those posts–and ended up really likeing the ETSY store that was advertised and bought something…..so I guess it works.

i concur, advertising on that wife is a bit past due. are there sites you are considering as advertisers? i often click on ads for modcloth when i visit cute overload because i love both sites. i think their affiliate program is worthwhile and i don’t think their ads are ever offensive (unlike, say, american apparel).

You should contact Getti’s Accessories, the owner of which is (I’m pretty sure) from Moses Lake. I bet they would love the advertisement and they have great stuff that you like.
