Lately I’ve really been making an effort to reply to comments, and the quickest/easiest way for me to do so (unless I want to write a long and detailed response) is using my phone. I really want to show you guys how much I appreciate you taking the time to comment, but when I’m at my computer I need to be replying to emails or editing, and comment replies fall by the wayside. Hitting reply on my phone allows me to shoot back a quick response, although sometimes it makes me sad that it’s not part of the conversation happening in the comment section of the posts. 
What do you think, should I reply to less comments but do it visibly? Or should I send back short little emails and not spend as much time typing out things in the comment section?

I like visible replies better, because then there is more interaction on the site. But please do whatever suits your lifestyle best!

As a lurker, I have wondered why you don’t reply to many comments or questions- this explains a lot! Honestly, you are one busy lady, so I say do whatever is easiest and makes most sense for you

I’ve had this same problem since switching to WP…I haven’t installed that comment thing you sent – though this makes me feel like it wouldn’t help?
I am too busy, and I don’t get nearly as many comments as you do! Right now I”m emailing because I don’t have a lot of time!

There is a wordpress plugin that allows you to reply to a comment on the blog and it automatically emails the commenter. do you have that?

I didn’t even know you responded to some comments via email…I guess because I hardly ever check the email account I use when I comment. I just logged in, and I found a couple responses from you. Thanks!
I say if you only have time to respond by email, do that, but it would be better if your comments were visible here too.

I can reply from my phone, which I am doing now, but I think it doesn’t get embedded in the thread and instead gets put in the bottom. Also, do you get am email letting you know I wrote this?

I get an email to notify me of any answer to a comment here (you can opt out when commenting). I think the private email works for things you don’t need other people to know. But if it’s something that may interest the community then it’s better to take more time and embed it.

I like comments on the site..and I think it would help with getting you more new readers. One thing that keeps me drawn to a blog is how active the blogger is with their readers.

I loved the little email I got from you on one of my comments! I have to say, unless the topic of your post is one that furthers a lot of discussion, I rarely check back to read the comments. But I think whatever way you prefer is the best way!
