Last year I became a Mother, and I thought I got it. I’m not going to really “get it” for a long time am I?
The farther I get into this motherhood thing, the more I find myself thinking that I’m never going to live up to the example you set. I guess mothers are like good wine, getting better with (their children’s) age.

Last week we were eating dinner together as a family and T1 looked at me and said Mama. I clapped and said it back, and he did it again, several more times. It hasn’t happened since, but the joy I felt in that moment was different than anything else I’ve ever felt before.
I hope I was able to provide that feeling for you.
I love you so much. We’re lucky to have you in our lives.

You just made me think of what my aunt told me last year, and I have to share it again:
“You know what? When it’s your turn you won’t be a perfect mother either (thank God!) and your child will ask her/himself the same serious questions about life; what matters is that he/she continues to turn to you in time of crisis, and then you will be able to tell yourself: I didn’t screw it all up!”
Happy mother’s day Jenna.

Thank you Jenna! This is a very kind post. It is so funny how we each see the world. As a Mother of two beautiful women, I am grateful for the people they have become in spite of maternal mistakes. Each and every child should come with a “Owner’s Manual” and my stroke packages did not contain one. Motherhood is trial and error. Each generation will look back and see errors they made, wishing they could have a redo. But in spite of our human weaknesses our children survive. Thank heavens you survived! Jenna you are a beautiful person and I am proud to have you as my daughter. Happy Mothers Day
