Long time readers know I’ve been talking about advertising for months now. I know my stats are good enough that I should be able to make at least enough to cover my hosting fees, but I wasn’t excited about any of the options I had heard about (namely Blogher, which places restrictions on how writers can use their own blog space). I gave my own system a try, looking for advertisers from my readership and billing them myself, but it was so much work and I knew I wasn’t going to keep up with it long term so I abandoned that idea. I was stuck, and didn’t really know where to go from there, until I read Geek in Heel’s post about her site redesign where she mentioned that she was going to start advertising using BlogAds, and I immediately knew I had found the right fit. Jenny is very smart and a thorough researcher, so I trusted that her choice would be a good one.

I filled out my application and kept my fingers crossed. They wrote back and said they were actually cutting back on the number of bloggers being accepted, but asked to see some stats for That Wife. That same day they wrote back and accepted me to join the network!

I really like the way it works because as I mentioned I am hesitant to join a network that does things like restrict whether I can do sponsored reviews or giveaways (I know I don’t do them very often, but I would hate to have to turn down an awesome opportunity if it came my way). It’s also an easy way for YOU to advertise with me if you think you have something to offer that fellow readers would enjoy. Slots can be purchased in the amount of 1 week, 2 week, 1 month, or 3 months, and so readers should have the chance to look over and see a variety of different options throughout the year*. I don’t really have to do anything other than approve who I’d like to have advertising with me, and most importantly produce great content that keeps you coming back for more!
