My sister has started a new blog! She named it I Wish I was A Fashionista. I’m a little hesitant to share this because you’ll get to see how she is the one who is *actually fashionable* when it comes to the two of us, and comparatively I’m just a sad little wannabe. Maybe with time some sort of fashion sense will develop for me?
I wore this to the zoo on a sunny October day, choosing some bright colors in an attempt to draw out the feeling of warm weather as long as possible. This outfit is pretty similar to my last Fashionably Modest offering. I really like this sweater paired with this skirt obviously.
Shirt (thrifted): $1.50
Sweater: Nordstrom, $20
Skirt: Made by my grandma, free
Shoes: Miz Mooz, $100 (?, purchased at the Anniversary Sale)
Belt: Thrifted, $2
Total: $123.50

I love the colors but I really think you use belts too much now. Sometimes I think your outfits would look better without the belts. They are just too distracting and divide your look in half.

I love this combo! Also, I went to cheer on my brother’s cross country meet this weekend and saw the Royal City team at the race. I thought of you!

I was looking at my dashboard for my blog and wondering why I had so many hits…. I don’t know how I missed the first paragraph of this post. Now I feel the pressure to do a better job

I , too like the colors! And I agree that so often “black” is safe. It can often be glamorous and elegant and the perfect thing, but when weight and fashion anxiety are thrown into the mix it’s often just the boring default. One question for you though: I’ve noticed that you often wear your belts kind of high–almost between the bottom of your bra and what looks like your natural waistline. I’d love to see some comparison photos with your belt at the current location and some with the belt about 5 inches lower–I think it would really elongate your look. (What would the outfit look like with a black skirt?). I also like the black/grey one shown in the initial look. Any pops of color you could add to it? It’s a very slenderizing and classy outfit, but just too monochromatic.

I tend to wear my belt higher because I have this little pot belly under my waist that I want to avoid emphasizing. It does seem like it’s sitting a bit high in this picture though, doesn’t it?
