Here’s to 2013 (And the Rest of Our Lives)

Only a few more weeks until life gets turned upside down for us and even though I’m scared and have no idea how we’re going to survive with two kids (I appreciate all those who have taken the time to reach out and address my fears with assurances that we can do it!) underneath all of that apprehension and nerves there is a thread of excitement knowing that 2o13 is launching us into a new stage in our lives.
As with last year, I’m not setting any New Years Resolutions. I haven’t been making much progress on my 101 in 1001 list with school and the move and pregnancy but I’ll keep plugging away through September and see how much I can accomplish before then. So much has changed since I developed the list that there are plenty of goals I can’t don’t want to accomplish anyway. I’m already looking forward to making a new list to begin in 2014!
Have you considered a 101 in 1001 list? I like it so much better than the standard practice of developing New Years Resolutions. Think about giving it a try!

Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family, Jenna!

1I’m actually starting a 101 list today! It’s funny because I planned the post to go live, and officially start today. But in the time I’ve written it, I’ve already accomplished two items on the list. But since it happened before my official start date, I guess I’m just going to have to do them again. Ha!
And hope you have you family have a happy 2013!!

3Happy New Year! I am sure you guys will do great with two kids. I am thinking of doing a 101 in 1001 – it feels kind of silly in one way but I feel like it will be more achievable than just going ‘I need to do all the things…NOW!’.

4Instead of a resolution, my husband and I are setting goals of things to accomplish this year (i.e. run a half marathon together, visit a new state, etc.). Similiar to the 101 in 1001, but less overwhelming for us and easier to track.

I really love the idea of setting couple goals. Maybe after we’ve survived the first year of parenting two

6Hey Jenna, How I have missed you on FB… but alas you are here and I haven’t been. Congrats on your changes! I am expecting number FOUR in MAY! We will have another home birth, along with another GIRL!
Glad to see all is well!

7I was inspired by you to start a 101 in 1001 just after you began yours. Mine finishes in October. I’ve only completed 37 of my goals, with 9 underway. I’m hoping I’ll get my completion rate up by the time it finishes. Like you I have a few tasks I no longer want to complete, although with some I’m having some trouble differentiating between genuinely no longer wanting to do them or avoiding ones I included to extend myself.
Overall I’m really enjoying the challenge and am looking forward to writing a new set of tasks when this round finishes. I hope the rest of your 101 in 1001 goes well!

8I’ve done the 101 in 1001 before, and loved it! I’m starting a new list this week! And good luck, I’m sure you’ll get the hang of having two kiddos before you know it.

9Personally, I hate the idea of resolutions. Largely because of the cultural idea that they are a promise to ourselves that we don’t really plan to keep. I also don’t like the idea that one has to wait until a certain point of the year before they can make possible change in their life. It’s freeing to think about goal setting as an any time thing.
That being said, I love the idea of 101 in 1001 and will likely do something similar in February for Lá Fhéile Bríde.
