Introducing T2
In case you don’t follow me on Twitter or Instagram, T2 was born at home yesterday. And she’s a SHE! We are so thrilled to have both a boy and a girl.
As with T1, please try to remember to call her T2 around the internets. Plus it’s nice because it’s less to type
Second time moms reassured me that the second birth/recovery is immensely better than the first, and they weren’t joking. I feel remarkably good compared to last time. She is currently snoozing on my chest in a sling, I’ve taken a shower, picked up our bedroom in the aftermath of the birth, answered some emails and if she keeps sleeping I might even blow my hair dry. All of this is courtesy of not only my quick recovery, but my mom and husband who are taking terrific care of the two of us.
To answer some common questions:
I labored for about 8 hours. Pushed her out in the same tub T1 was born in.
Her first name is something we liked (though it’s sprinkled throughout my family in the form of a middle name) and her middle name is my mom and sister’s middle name.
I plan on posting the birth story for T2 like I did for T1.
Breastfeeding is going really well so far. She is demand feeding (and she demands it all the time, haha) and I hope things continue in the same vein. Time will tell, as we didn’t start having problems with T1 until my milk came in (or didn’t really come in, in my case).

I'm a farm-raised almost-crunchy stroller-pushing picture-taking lifestyle-blog-writing gastronomy-obsessed divine-seeking thrift-store-combing cheese-inhaling pavement-pounding laughter-sprinkling lover of individuality and taking chances.

Congrats again! She is beautiful!

9Congrats Jenna! She’s so cute & I love her name! I am curious though as to why she (and I guess your mother and sister) don’t have the extra e at the end of their middle name.
And I’m really hoping that you take the time to write out your birth story like you did with T1.
Congrats again, to you, and the whole family!!

12Congratulations!! I was a blubbering mess when you had T1 and chalked it up to the raging pregnancy hormones I had at the time. Now I’m a teary mess again seeing this beautiful little one, so it must just be something about new babies.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and successful BFing!

25Congrats!! I’ve been following your tweets and wanted to offer this:
1) Great (and tasty) lactation cookie recipe to help boost supply. I omit the cinnamon: http://www.drmomma.org/2010/08/lactation-cookies-recipe-increasing.html
2) If you have a My Brest Friend (worst name ever) it’s possible to snooze semi-reclined in bed with the MBF strapped around your waist and your newborn nursing/resting as needed on the nursing pillow. I recall a few nights doing this with PB when he was brand new. You don’t get deep sleep, but you can catch a Z here and there. (Could maybe work with a sling, too? Never tried that…)
3) Formula can be a helpful tool!! We would give newborn PB 2oz of formula before he nursed – it took the edge off his hunger, and then he was able to latch on better and nurse longer. (Also helped him poop out the bilirubin, as he was turning orange!) Once my milk came in and we were all good with a nursing routine, we cut out the formula entirely. Used it for maybe 10 days. 15 months later, still nursing.
4) Congrats again! She is a beauty. And I love her name.

My brest friend is the worse name but I do have that pillow and it is amazing I’ll try using it in bed, I’ve just had it in the glider with me.
I’m so happy you made the comment about Formula. I recently learned about that technique, from podcast with a lactation consultant, but I had never heard of anyone actually using it. It seems like a really logical way to prevent baby from getting overly hungry and encouraging a good latch. Once my milk comes in if my supply is low I’m going to try it.

What was the inspiration for Marie’s middle name? In french, René is a man’s name and Renée is for women (I know many of both).

42I am so slow on reading blogs these days, but YAY! Congrats! I am excited to hear how things went. It’s amazing how different one labor is to another, especially 2nd to 1st (we’ll find out about the 3rd soon enough though, I suppose ;D). I think there’s something about the removal of the mystery that makes the whole process easier!
Oh, and so, I’m kinda partial since we have two girls and no boys (yet) but seriously… you’re gonna love having a girl! =D They really are so fun.

I hear you on being behind when it comes to keeping up with blogs that used to be devoured on a daily basis
. I didn’t know you were expecting another. How exciting! I’ve heard 1 is harder, 2 is harder than that, 3 is the worst, and 4 is when it gets easy. Hopefully your experience is much better than that and maybe you will tempt me into having a 3rd after all!

It is amazing, the resemblance between T1 and T2. Maybe I am the only one seeing it, but I see it. Good to hear you are doing so awesome. Enjoy this new season. Hope T1 is doing great too.

46Just saw this now – hurrah!!!!! Congrats Jenna – so so happy for you and your family! And girls are the best. There is also something so sweet about a girl having an older brother to look out for her – and something tells me T1 will be such a kind, guiding soul. Congrats again!

Are you talking about the top in the birth tub? It’s a VS one that I bought from ebay.
