That Junk
Spent 5 hours creating 30 Craigslist and 2 half.com listings. It’s not quite Spring, but I’ve caught the decluttering bug.
I already have several sales lined up. Whatever doesn’t get picked up/shipped will be sent to salvation army and I will finally be able to spend some time creating a little creative corner for myself in the office. I’d like to sew some bright and fun throw pillow for our bed. First step for accomplishing that task will be taking the sewing machine out of the box.
I love decluttering, and have been doing a ton of it myself. I have a huge pile of books - I think me and my guy will be going to a used book store over the weekend to turn them in for credits. It feels great to have some of the space back for other things. Now, to tackle that storage closet…
1It’s amazing just how easily one can accumulate random and pretty much useless things isn’t it? Sometimes I suspect there’s a wormhole that just opens up in the back of the closet and deposits things no one could ever use.
2Good job! Doing this so early into your marriage is wise. I’ve helped a few couples clean and move (couples who have been married for 10-20 years), and I’ve since vowed never to have that much clutter. It’s astounding how much stuff we all have and keep for NO reason. We’re so spoiled, you know?
3And hey-wonderful header!!!
4Good for you! We’re really trying to get rid of excess and unnecessary stuff (Already given away 2 garbage bags of stuff) but it’s really hard. Maybe I’ll try and attack it again this weekend.
5I would highly recommend freecycle.org for the stuff you don’t sell - you can just put your stuff outside and people who are interested will stop buy and pick it up (and yes, they will pick up practically anything).
6I so badly need to do this. The last thing I managed to sell was my prom dress, however; I only sold it because I couldn’t figure out a way to bleach it white and wear it for my wedding
(it was bright yellow). You seem so productive lately around the house! By the way, you’re selling the PostSecret book?! I have that one, or I would give you an offer :).
7Most of my Junk is still in France… I’m going to get rid of so many things when I go back there… I just hope I’ll have the time to organize it all to either sell or donate…
8Here it’s mainly Hubby’s junk. I think we’ll have to wait until we move to our first home (well buy one first) to really go through everything.
But I do decluter the basics from time to time (if only my wardrobe)
I can’t believe you’re selling PostSecret! It’s my FAVE!
9really?? the post secret book?? i loved that book! remember how you ebayed your friends season without even telling me?

I’m sure hoping I can make that up to you someday. I’ll do my best in March.
