That Mom

Posted by Jenna, Under Uncategorized

I’m going to tell you a secret about That Mother.

She has a 6th sense.* I like to think of it as the “Jenna’s Being Naughty” sense, for that is when it was exercised most. Every time I wanted to do something fun in high school she knew about it, and this one time she even came and picked me up and took me home before I was finished with the naughty thing I was doing.

It was embarassing.

But I am who I am today because of her.

I hope I develop a 6th sense of my own when I have children. I know without a doubt that my mom (both my parents actually) would sacrifice anything and everything to make me happy. I have a lot to live up to.

I love you mom. I’ll tell you again to your face TOMORROW when I see you!

*That Husband likes to call this sense “The Liahona”. :)

  1. So nice that you have such a great relationship with your mother.

Growing up I had sort of the opposite situation as you describe with your mother. As a really young child my parents’ training somehow made me insanely conscientious. So as an adolescent/teenager I would never do anything “wrong” without making sure that my mother knew about it. She hated that because it suddenly made her responsible for every little thing and she’d have preferred that I be just a bit more normal. :-)

And I’ve not noticed it before, but you and your mom look so much alike!

  2. Hahaha “the Liahona” that’s great :) You’ve referenced your “naughty” moments before on this blog, if it’s not too personal maybe you could write about some of them- I always enjoy a funny high school/college story of “ok, so like 5 of us decided, for some reason, it would be a good idea to…but then…” :)

  3. Your husband is hilarious. My mom didn’t have a sixth sense, but my best friend’s mother did. It was uncanny how she was able to immediately call us out on whatever we were doing wrong. Moms are the best!

  5. This is totally off-topic, but do you have false eyelashes on in this picture? Because if so they are really flattering on you! On topic now, my mom picked me up once too, from a sleepover that was unsupervised. I didn’t know it would be, and we weren’t doing anything exciting, but she knew as soon as she heard my voice and came right over and got me. The funny thing was, I was grateful! Gotta love ‘em.

Definitely yes to the false eyelashes! I wish I could wear them every day. Well I guess I technically could, but I never would.
