Today is the big day.

I’m planning on convincing That Mother to document the entire thing so I can recap appropriately (for who doesn’t want to put photos makeup-free, with fuzzy teeth, and a drug induced high on their blog?). She is a fabulous photographer, and I plan on putting her skills to good use.

I report to the hospital in Plano at 6:00 am with no makeup, no jewelry, no contacts, no nails, and no valuables. I’ll have my MRI, birth control, and gummi vitamins in hand. I’ll be hungry and thirsty since I was told (in capital letters no less), no chewing gum, or sucking on ice or candy after midnight. My clothing will be loose and comfortable, and I’ll be drinking an abundance of water and taking laxatives after it’s all over. (TMI? I think not, it’s reality.)

Surgery is set to commence at 7:30 am sharp. The operation should last between 30-45 minutes, and I’ll stay in the hospital recovering for about 4-5 hours, until I can prove I can walk around and pee. Funny how such a normal, everyday event can become such an important milestone.

The most common question I hear is “How are you feeling?”

I feel ready.

I’ve been ready for weeks, and as the big day draws near my pain seems to intensify. Maybe this is my bodies way of telling me I am doing the right thing? :)

On Sunday night I put my dress back on and sat down in a kitchen chair. My husband, my darling eternal companion, stood over me and pronounced a priesthood blessing upon my head. How grateful I am to have a worthy priesthood holder living in my home, sleeping by my side each night! The words of the blessing are personal, between the Lord and myself, but the message gave me the assurance I needed to feel peace walking into the operating room knowing everything is going to be alright.

I have posts scheduled to go up each day, utilizing some of my favorite content from my first blog, That Girl (I had to dig deep for anything worthwhile, there isn’t much worth reading there.) I’ll post a little update as soon as I’m able to briefly let you all know how it went. See you on the sciatica-free side!
