Learned of this quiz via one of my favorite blogs (the writers are all brilliant and I aspire to express myself 1/10 as eloquently as they do).
Isn’t it wonderful how much we all have in common?
P.S-Why do you think they chose Brigham Young as the symbol to represent the LDS religion? Is he really that identifiable?

For some reason your results weren’t showing up properly for me at first so I could only see the first two and thought you were being sarcastic about having so much in common. Still not sure how serious you are as I guess I knew that you disagreed with a lot of things that I consider essential to Christianity, but the fact that it’s only about 50% in common was even lower than I expected.
Here’s a question though, what is the Mormon view of Jehova’s Witnesses? Do you even distinguish between other variations of Christianity or do you consider all non-Mormon faiths on the same level?

It is interesting. I think disrespect between religions is particularly upsetting largely by virtue of the similarities we all share.
My results had me identifying most closely with Reform Judaism and Liberal Quakers! My results are a little interesting due to my personal beliefs on issues like abortion, homosexuality and evolution. I personally can’t accept that 5,000 year old teachings must instruct the way we live our lives in a totally different world. That being said, I reserve no judgement for those that believe differently to me. This is, however, the reason that I believe that religion should have absolutely no place in politics and legislation.

I should expand upon my above post - while I think religious teachings and practice (for me) are important, I don’t believe they should ENTIRELY instruct the way we live our lives in a different world. I am not a literal believer in any religious text, it is more that I take a moral lesson or idea from them and try to live my life by as many of the recommended practices as possible. But again, that’s just my personal approach.

This is really interesting — my top ten:
1. Mainline - Conservative Christian Protestant
2. Eastern Orthodox
3. Orthodox Quaker - Religious Society of Friends
4. Seventh Day Adventist
5. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
6. Roman Catholic
7. Orthodox Judaism
8. Islam
9. Jehovahs Witness
10. Mainline - Liberal Christian Protestants
I’d really like to know how this quiz defines all these things.. like how am I more like Eastern Orthodox than Roman Catholic?? I find it kind of funny that I’m more like a Muslim than a liberal Protestant

I got the secular humanism too - but I knew what I would have to click to get the roman catholic (which I am). I guess I’m just to rational and scientific (given my background as a geneticist). I got LDS as a close second, which was kind of a surprise, given my view on issues you already raised on your blog.

I enjoyed this quiz.
My top was Christian Conservative Protestant (100%) and LDS came in at 53%-reciprocally similar to your 56% mainline Christian Conservative Protestant.
Pretty interesting stuff!
