I’ve finally received all of the pieces of my MOH outfit for That Sister’s wedding next month and I’m so excited about how it all came together. Like I did at my own wedding, That Sister chose to let all of her ‘maids choose their own black dress to wear. The element that brings our look together is a pair of fierce (I’ve been watching a lot of America’s Next Top Model on YouTube and so fierce is a regular part of my vocabulary now) pair of nude and tan shoes from Target.
Here is the whole look together. Try to imagine me with makeup on. And hair in something other than a scrub bun.
The dress is from The Gap about 5 years ago. I call is the “Magic Dress” because I was able to wear it even when I weighed 40+ lbs more than I do now. And when I bought it I weighed about 10 lbs than I do now. Not many dresses have a 50 lb range.
The bolero is by Etsy seller maryandangelika. I’m in love with her really romantic designs and I think this bolero is going to look really good next to my sisters dress.
The olive and pearl bracelet is from Etsy seller jensjewelry, and the earrings are from Calla Lily Jewelry.
P.S.-Sorry for the dark photos in this post, I’m being a lazy editor!
These sassy platforms are from Target, and I was VERY excited to be forced to buy new shoes. I’ve been wearing them around the house on the carpet so I can break them in on my feet without marking them up before the wedding.
What do you think? Any suggestions? I’m getting my hair done at a salon the day of (very excited about this) so if you have any hair inspiration pictures I would love to see them!
Suits you well! I love the bolero especially. Personally I would chose black shoes (or at least have some black in it) to go with the dress. Maybe even sparkly or shiny ones, The outfit would be finished in all ways in my opinion, a better match.
I didn’t realize you sister was already getting married next month, wow, time flies and how exciting!

so cute!!
i LOVE that bolero! i agree with MCH though…I would like to see that outfit with sparklier shoes

I love all of it! I think the bolero is cute, the dress is flattering and (going against the grain, here) the shoes are HOT.
Nude shoes are really elongating from a leg perspective (not tha you need it) and I think sparkly shoes are a bit ‘done’. Plus, they’re super on trend (not that I’m a fashion victim or anything. . .)

Hi Jenna - Love the outfit! Good idea on breaking in the shoes, I got the same ones from Tar-jay and didn’t break them in - blister city! Also …. I did a whole post last week on “bridesmaid hair”!

I love love love the bolero and the accessories. I like the shoes but not as much as the rest of the outfit. Maybe seeing the shoes on with the outfit to pull it all together for me. Nice work!
As for the hair I love the side pony look and think it would look perfect on you.
Here is a link to a weddingbee post by Ms. Joey, my favorite is Michelle Williams.

My biggest question is…if YOU are the MOH and That SISTER is the BRIDE, and DA is the MOB WHO IS GOING TO TAKE THESE BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS FOR THE WEDDING?!?!?!

Great ensemble! The bolero is fabulous. I’m totally curious about the magic dress — what’s the general shape/style of it that it can fit so many weight ranges? (It’s covered by bolero so I can’t tell.)
My bridesmaids also all wore cocktail-length little black dresses of their choosing and I was SO happy with how it turned out. While planning my wedding, I saw your photos on Weddingbee, so I was definitely inspired

have you read the twilight series? I would love to hear your opinion on them

Hehe, it’s all good!
I didn’t comment yet on this post, but I was most impressed with that dress! How awesome that you can still wear it! It looks like your outfit will be fantastic! Can’t wait to see photos from the wedding soon!

I saw the shoes on That Sister’s blog and loved them!! Black with black shoes is boring… And sparkley shoes would mean ppl would be looking at the maids feet in photos instead of beautiful bride Shaylene Rene!!
