I asked on Twitter (follow me!) and Facebook for name suggestions for my new iPhone and some stranger suggested Diana. Why? I have no idea, but I liked it and now it’s official. My new baby is named Diana.
I love it of course, because who wouldn’t?
So far I have downloaded the following apps:
Pandora
(amazing, get it)
Remember the Milk
Google Mobile Apps
Twitterific
Shazam
(identifies songs)
Urban Spoon
(restaurant ratings)
The Weather Channel
Around Me
(helps you find businesses of different catergories around you)
Wikipanion
(Wikipedia on the iPhone)
Stanza
(free books!)
BigOven
(a recipe database, I plan on using it in the grocery store)
Wordpress*
I’ve only had my phone for 24 hours or so, but I love all of these apps so far.
What apps do you love and recommend? Which ones did you pay for? What did you do about ringtones?
*If you are having trouble with Wordpress you may need to turn on XML-RPC. Go to Dashboard->Settings->Writing and check the box next to “Enable the WordPress, Movable Type, MetaWeblog and Blogger XML-RPC publishing protocols.”

cooliris - to view flickr albums
Good Food - shows you what healthy food options are around you
Restaurants (blue icon w/ spoon, fork, knife) - chain restaurant menu w/ nutritionals
9 toolbox - lots of tools in one app
iwant - looking for something around you? it’ll tell you where to find it

My fiance uses http://www.myxer.com for ringtones. You can use any song you already own and choose what section of the song you want and if you want it to fade in/fade out.
Then you just tell it what kind of phone you use and it will save it for you in the format you need (.m4r) and then just put it in the ringtones folder in iTunes and sync it to your phone!

What does Pandora do? I can only find PandoraBots or PandoraBox. Apps in Holland are somewhat different so I don’t think I can help you out. I love the news, traffic, weather, Google Earth, Solitaire, 4 in a Row, Sudoku, Rain Radar, Twitter and Bible Reference on mine!

Pandora is a Music Genome Project here in the US. I don’t think it is available in other countries due to issues with record labels. What it does is dissects the music qualities of, say a song, you like, and finds other music that has similar qualities and makes a whole “radio station” of those songs. It’s a great way to listen to only music that you are in the mood for, and learn of artists that you haven’t heard of.

I paid for Tweetie, Photo Lab (to quickly edit phone photos before uploading), iFitness, and Ocarina because it was really cool.
Free ones (besides the ones that you have already downloaded):
Flashlight has been good to me during the times when I’m walking around in the dark trying to find stuff (or light switches).
Another good one is called Lose It. It’s a log where you can keep track of your eating and stuff while on the road. It gives you calorie counts and tells you how much you can eat depending on your exercise.

I used Twitterific for awhile, but I now use TwitterFon and I like it a lot better. It’s free, too, so check it out.
PandoraBox (free) is an app that tells you what other apps are on sale.
I paid $3.99 for the C25k app, which lets you listen to your own music while running and it tells you when to run and walk. This is for anyone wanting to start a running program who doesn’t know how!
Fun free games: Word Warp, Scramble, reMovem free, Flood-It!, Minesweeper.
And I’ve recently become addicted to Sally’s Spa, a game I paid $0.99 for, but was totally worth it!

Welcome to the family Diana. I love that you name your things and talk about them as your friends. I recently dropped my iphone and broke the screen. I found myself phoneless for two weeks. I procured an old school phone to use in the mean time, but it called and received calls. I did not know that my phone had become my brain. My life is on my phone….I missed my phone. Maybe I should name my brain friend phone. Thanks for sharing your fav apps.
LDS users-iWard is great for contact info
Does any one have a great to do list app?
