I’m in El Paso for a wedding this weekend, excited about the square themed event with a Mexican flair (she is Hispanic, he is African-American), and that the forecast says it shouldn’t be anything over 100 degrees while I am there. In Texas, less than 100 degrees in the summer is a blessing.
I thought I’d leave you with a little blogging tip. Subscribe to your own blog using Google Reader (or whatever site you use). This will do several things for you:
- This will show you how readers see your content. You will experience it as they do. You will know if posts you deleted are still visible to others. Are your photos too big? Too small?
- You will know if your blog title is showing up correctly when people subscribe. So many photographers (so so so many) don’t change their blog title settings and so when I subscribe it shows up as “…” That, my friends, is incredibly unprofessional. And annoying for me to have to do the extra work to figure out who they are.
- If you are using your blog for professional endeavors, think about adding your location to your blog title, so that it shows up as “Jenna Cole Photography-Dallas, TX”. People like to know where you are located if they are going to hire you. This can be done using FeedBurner under the “Optimize” tab.
It’s incredibly easy to do, but it can really make a difference if you’re interested in refining the user experience.
Have a wonderful weekend, I’m sure I’ll be sharing a photo or two with all of you of my (first solo!) wedding this weekend!

Great tip! I subscribe to my own blogs mainly for reason #1… and also to see sometimes how long it takes for my posts to show up (sometimes it’s instantly…. sometimes it’s several hours).
Best of luck with the wedding!

This is a great suggestion! I’m a long time reader (since you were That Girl!) and a brand new blogger myself. Thanks for all the great content.

Oh my, this was such a good idea! I decided to add myself and you’re right - I could see many posts that I thought I had deleted or edited that aren’t on my actual live page - but it still shows up in reader as if I posted it!
Thanks for the great tip!
Good luck on the wedding! Can’t wait to see pics.
