Want to see our new apartment? AKA the thing in my life wearing out my husband and causing me to ignore my inbox like never before (if you have emailed me lately about something pertaining to Jenna Cole I promise I will get to you as soon as I possibly can, husband has been wonderful about taking most of this move on by himself but I do need to help him as much as I can).
We decided to move because we found a place with more light (light is very important to me), more storage, a bit more square feet, and an attached garage all for about the same price we are paying right now. Also moving helps purge all of the built up crap we have been hanging on to unnecessarily for the past 11 months.
Let’s start the home tour in the kitchen, my favorite room in the place. I fell in love with the open space (light, so much light!) and even though we don’t actually host any parties I like to pretend this would now be a good place to do so because of the way it would foster movement between rooms. I hope that hanging the pots from the ceiling looks elegant, not cluttered…
The dining room. We haven’t decided yet if we think the mirrors are cool or strange. Any suggestions on how we can spruce them up a little bit?
The living room that I love so much. I’m going to use up some wedding gift cards and go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and get some porch furniture so we can eat out on the deck at night, and I’m going to go yard sale/thrift hunting for funny trinkets to line the top of the fireplace with.
The front door has a coat closet, which means no more keeping the coats in the office. Hooray! And board games can be stored away in there as well.
Why did I take a picture of this particular closet? Because I’ve claimed it as my photography closet and I’m thrilled to be getting all of my very expensive equipment off the ground.
We can’t agree what this room is. I call is the baby’s room. He calls it the office. TH can have his way… for now.
The bathroom, with a big huge tub and two sinks! TH is awful at sharing the sink when we get ready at the same time (didn’t spend hours in the bathroom with a sister like I did I guess) so Sundays will go much easier from now on I think.
The master bedroom. Not really much to talk about until we get our stuff inside.
Yay for enormous closets! Of course we will stuff it to the brim very easily.
I’ll give you another tour once everything is put away, put up, and organized (right now it doesn’t really seem like that could ever happen!). A big thank you to TH for doing most of the work during this move. I really picked a good one when I snatched him up.
P.S.-He recently found out about a promotion at work, meaning we are officially staying on in Dallas for another year and that he kills it at his job, something I already knew from all of his late nights. I love him dearly for the sacrifices for our family.

Oh look at all that light! Beautiful! I officially think it’s not weird to be excited about light
oh and that mirror will probably look interesting with your furniture up and maybe a canvas on the other wall… can’t wait to see your results!

Oh, so light and airy. I also love light. I grew up in a house with huge windows (we had FIVE windows in our lounge/dining room area) so I crave light. And I want your walk-in closet! Hubby and I share one, and it kills me. My photography stuff is also on the floor. The only other closet is under the stairs (we call it the Harry Potter cupboard) and we store things like the Christmas decorations, unused catbox, old computer etc in there. There ARE no other cupboards in our house except the kitchen cabinets. It’s awful.

Moving is so hard - TH is a hero for shouldering so much! We all take turns with that kind if stuff, and I know you’ll be the star unpacker when you are feeling better!!
You should put family photos on the fireplace! It will be a great spot for your nativity scenes when Christmas arrives!
Hope you feel better! Rest!

Hanging pot racks are divine! No more taking up cabinet space with pots and pans. And they look pretty cool too when they’re full. Just make sure it’s mounted into the ceiling well. We once had one fall onto our island!

Oh Man! I’m sooooo incredibly jealous of your new place. Yeah, the mirrors are weird. To have two sinks in a bathroom is my lifelong dream.

Maybe you can do something really pretty on the mirrors like cut out prints of flowers — it sounds prettier in my head, really
And congrats TH on your promo!! How wonderfully exciting

The mirrors are a little strange. Maybe taking them down and having them cut smaller so they don’t encompass the whole wall or putting them in a nice vintage frame.
Love the new place. I would love to have a fireplace like that and open kitchen!

Love it! I’m so envious of all the wonderful light! And those closets are to die for. Plus - TWO sinks! That is awesome. Looks like you found a real gem.
Are you going to do any painting of walls? My husband and I were really pumped to paint when we moved in to our new place… but then The Lazy sort of took over. It sounds like such fun, though!

Dan and I could fill that walk in closet so easy, considering we both have so many clothes. But considering you don’t have many clothes and i assume TH doesn’t either. I will be very interested to see if you guys really can fill that closet!

The mirrors are a hold over from the 80s - but they do make things brighter by reflecting the light! I would recommend spray frosting them. You can buy spray paint at home depot that looks like frosted glass, tape up your own stencil of whatever design (demask? polka dots? flowers?) and spray away. The best part? Windex and some elbow grease wipes it all away so you can change it often or just clean up any “oops”.

My dream is being able to hang my pots up like that. It won’t look cluttered - it will look homey!
And the two sinks…drool. I’m terrible at sharing a sink, because my sister and I had double sinks growing up. I pine for my own sink! We have another year in our place, but hopefully after that we can get a house with light, double sinks, and a place for me to hang my pots!

The mirror could be spruced up with a nice die cut decal pattern of interwoven geometric designs covering the whole wall. Could end up being expensive but Etsy might surprise you!!!

Nice looking place. Are you renting or owning?
I’m going to assume renting. You could put decorative stickers on the mirrors like those:

Congratulations for the promotion TH and enjoy the new house. Isn’t a new kitchen a good excuse for a house warming party? We just had one and it made a real different on how homy the house felt with friends around.

Yay for new houses!!
I love the storage! Have fun!
Oh and Husband did all of our moving last time. What can you do? I was working. We couldn’t afford movers, we hired the Elders Quorum. Cheesy but true! And trust me, you’ve never seen two missionaries hold the flat screen more carefully. Men like tech!

Your new place looks so big and spacious! Is it on the second floor of the building? If so, it must’ve been a pain to get everything up the stairs! I’m glad you hired movers. How is your back been feeling lately btw? I was just thinking about that back surgery you had a few months ago and was wondering how the healing has been. My lower back has been hurting a lot lately and it has never happened before! I think I might just be getting old …

love the light, love the pot rack (I love the look of the regular every day pans, but my friend who doesn’t like her pans just bought a few shiny and cheap ones at Ikea for decoration for her pot rack) On the mirrors I like the suggestions that others have made and when I was looking at the picture again I was thinking it might be cool to get actual (or decal) frames (large) and put them over the mirrors so it looks like you have a wall of framed mirrors…does that make any sense? If you want any help unpacking I would be happy to come over and help:)
