Why?
1. He saved me from debt.
2. He helped me make a beautiful baby. (haven’t even seen him/her yet and I already know it’s true!)
3. He forgave me for that one time I locked him out of the house.
4. He works hard. Incredibly hard.
5. His lips.
6. etc, etc
And I just added another thing to the list:
7. Best in-laws ever!
That Husband’s parents sent us a happy anniversary package, all the way from Poland! Aren’t they sweet? I love having them in my life.
The baby and I love these wafer candy bars. (AKA, I love them and tell husband it’s okay for me to keep eating them because the baby loves them too.)
I eat one per day and I’m probably going to cry when my supply runs out.
The chocolate is European, free of that waxy taste Hersheys seems love so much. Why yes, I am a chocolate snob!
That husband has been letting me eat all of the Elitesse bars because the rest of the treats in the box were milk based. As in more of that crazy sweetened condensed milk he can’t get enough of. (I believe I incorrectly called it evaporated milk once, as I wasn’t previously aware there was a difference between the two). They sell it like candy in a toothpaste-like tube. I never sneak some for myself as it makes me feel a little bit sick when I do.
My favorite part of the package was a special box, just for me! I’ve been lusting after the bright colored jewelry some of you talk about on your blogs (you know who you are, you make me drool), but all of my wardrobe money lately has been poured into make sure I’m not exploding out of my clothes. No need to beg TH for some extra moolah for non-necessities when I’m blessed with the kind of family members that can read my mind and take care of it for me.
Thank you to my Polish parents! TH loves the milk, I keep all the candy bars to myself (and baby of course), and the necklace looks fantastic with all of the black stretchy empire waisted dresses I’ve been wearing.

Have you looked to see if you can find the Elitesse bars at World Market? They have tons of imported candies, chocolate, etc. in their food section. There are several stores in the DFW area. Lucky for my waistline, none of them are terribly close to my house. But when I happen by one I always pick up my favorite English candy bars!

For whatever reason the requests for belly shots mixed with the food-y post made me think “peanut butter belly time, peanut butter belly time!” in tune to that web comic that went “peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time”. Hahaha.

It’s definitely true. European chocolate is better. I’ve compared North American Cadbury’s to European Cadbury’s and it isn’t even in the same category of chocolate…I guess that makes me a chocolate snob too

The chocolate I’ve had from Russia and Japan was way better too- I wonder if it’s because we use so many crap ingredients in our chocolate, like random soy and high fructose corn syrup?

Yep, European chocolate has fewer crap ingredients. My family is European and we always have awesome chocolate at holidays and whatnot. This Easter, my sister and I did a side-by-side comparison of the ingredients list of American Cadbury creme eggs versus European creme eggs and there were definite differences. I think the first ingredient for the European chocolate was milk while the American chocolate was “cocoa milk solids” or something like that.

I did a presentation on chocolate for a taste club a while back and it’s all because the major companies have been able to redefine what percentage of chocolate/cocoa/etc has to be in chocolate in order to call it chocolate. What I read at the time (almost 2 years ago) suggested there was a lot of lobbying going on to try and make it so even less chocolate could be in chocolate products. Talk about gross!

I miss Italian chocolate from my semester in Milan. The European stuff is amazing! That’s a very sweet package from the in-laws. You are blessed to have such a good relationship with them!

Yes, being Polish (or the next best thing - knowing the Polish) is a very good thing.
Enjoy the chocolates. For what it’s worth, Indian chocolate is also waaay better than our American variety. I always come back with Indian KitKats (so much better!) and eat one a day until they are gone. Then I sulk.

P.S. Your ILs have great jewelry taste. That necklace is trendy but also classic. It’ll match so many things. My ILs give me lots and lots of really glittery things.

They really do have great taste in jewelry. They got mom that really cute colorful necklace, and I really like this necklace too! I love that it kind of has a rustic feel to it, not like cheap shiny plastic like stupid America does a lot. I am sorry for calling America stupid, it is just those that buy cheap stuff from China and sell it for a lot. I like that in Poland they hand make a lot of things. Now I am just rambling and tired of doing stupid statistics homework. That is probably why I called America stupid, because I had to do stupid statistics. I am stopping. now.

That necklace is adorable! I am also pretty bad at wearing black or grey outfits… and my jewelry is all pretty neutral as well. I need to start buying fun accessories in bright colors - maybe that will be my new year’s resolution?

In Kazakhstan they sell cans of sweetened condensed milk and cooked sweetened condensed milk (a version/type of caramel). It’s kinda fun, but it’s the same type of caramel product they use in the twix, snickers, and other candies sold there, so it somehow makes them taste a little weird (to my taste buds anyways).

oh gosh, did I tell you that when we went camping Nick made a smore with Ghiradeli chocolate because he said “Hersheys tastes like baby sick”. I called him a posh wanker for it, but you’re both right - hersheys sucks.

Try the condensed milk on toast. I think it’s the same as La Lechera which is popular in Mexico and which you can also find in U.S. supermarkets.

I’m from Kuwait and this chocolates are my most favorite. A lot of people are surprised that i don’t like Cadbury or Mars products more.
You can even read about it here:
