Watch My Belly Grow
After many many weeks of doing these I’ve finally figured out a good location for these photos, with much better lighting. I’ve started to miss weeks as these dang pictures take FOREVER. I have to get the camera, memory card, tripod, figure out the right settings for the lighting, and then I run back and forth using the 2 second self timer attempting to figure out the focus. As you can see I have made a lot of mistakes over the weeks, but things are looking much better by week 22. Guess I’ll be better prepared for when baby #2 comes?
A comparison shot. Breasts look the same, arms look about the same, but bigger bum, bigger tummy (of course!) and bigger face (boo).
Although I have a belly riddled with old faded stretch marks from when I got really fat in college, I have yet to see any new ones. No linea nigra yet, and still an innie belly button. Not too shabby!
And I leave you with a real clothes shot WITH makeup on my face just for kicks. 3 weeks until my maternity shoot!
What week do you think I “popped”?
I love seeing how you’re changing, because it’s TOTALLY different than how I’m changing! With my first, my body developed a lot like yours. I, too, was bummed about my face filling out so much.
But if it’s any consolation, this one is TOTALLY different! Every bit of my weight gain has been right out there in front in my tummy, which popped REALLY early. My belly button’s a full-blown outie at 28 weeks, and I’ve got a faint line. So strange how it’s different, huh?
Jenna, you’re really beautiful, and I know it’s got to be encouraging for other preggos out there to see your form change and you take ownership of the changes! Can’t wait to see your maternity shoot!
My clothed maternity shoot will happen in about a month, but early today I posted some conceptual “shadows and light” images on our blog that my second-shooter husband took of me. Check ‘em out!

1week 16 looks like a pretty drastic change to me!

2I agree with SAS. Week 16 definitely.
I’m still in awe of the whole pregnancy process. To think that in just 7 days so much can happen.
But then, God made the world in 6, so I really should be that surprised at how He works miracles in 9 months.

I think the most amazing is one day feeling no movement, and the next day feeling that little kick! This whole growing a baby thing is really faith affirming I think.

I think you’d got a definite baby bump at 12 weeks, but week 16 is the undeniable baby belly! Too cute! (I know you dont always think so, but you really are glowing beautiful all the way through. - Especially on week 20 when your tummy completely disappears!

4Week 15-16 is a big change for sure. But then 18-19 also seems like a significant difference too. It will be so cool to see all the pictures at the end.

5I love seeing this! You look absolutely gorgeous and glowing.

6I would say week 16 too, suddenly there is that roundness in the belly that just says pregnancy.
It’s crazy to see thse weeks one after the other, it reallys shows how quickly the body changes. I can understand better why it’s a struggle to accept it: you don’t have time to adapt.

7Week 16 for sure!

8Definitely week 16!

9I agree, week 16 seemed more noticeable than the others. You are looking cute!!

10It’s unanimous! Haha. Week 16! You can see just a little more of a “baby protrusion” in that picture. How exciting for your maternity shoot! I can’t wait to see how they turn out. Are you using Kelli Nicole again? Are you going to use her for the birth as well?

I’m not using her for my maternity shoot because I did a trade with another fabulous photographer and thus was able to get the session and photos for free! I think someone else is photographing the birth as well, only because Kelli’s so far away and I’d like to make sure the person I’m using will be there in time in case I have a really long labor. I’ll be calling Kelli as soon as I go into labor though, as I would really love to have her there for the birth, even if she doesn’t take a single photo!

Trades are great! That’s too bad that she’s too far away, but still exciting to have contact with other photographers in your area.

I’m with the general consensus - Week 16!
You are so stinkin’ cute!!

12I think that I’ll have to agree with the consensus here…but I will say that I had week 16 in my head BEFORE I read all of the responses!
I love seeing the changes! The others who have said this already are completely on the mark - you are beautiful and your pregnancy only makes you more so.
This is my second pregnancy, and I’m showing a lot earlier than I did during my first…which was 7 years ago. Although a little disappointing to see, I remember buying all these maternity clothes last time and not showing enough to wear them and being SO disappointed then too! So, it’s a trade-off. I’m doing a shot every other week for now, but I’m thinking about moving to a weekly shot now that the changes are more apparent.
Keep them coming!

13I am on the week 16 bandwagon!! You look great!

14I saw a noticeable difference at 18 weeks - not that you weren’t showing before, but that’s when I think the pop was. Your maternity shoot is going to be gorgeous!!

15I’m with Sarah - week 18 is when things just pop out to pregnancy perfection.

16Yep, definitely week 15-16 was when you popped! A baby belly is SO cute!

17How exciting! I vote for week 16 as well.

18I would say week 16 as many others have said! I have been following your blog since a little before you announced you were pregnant and I can’t believe it’s 28 weeks already!
You look great! A few more weeks!

19Week 16 - absolutely! And by the way, now that I am a specialist but I think that you are carrying a girl

20I was torn between week 16 and 18, but I think that peer pressure is pushing me towards voting for week 16.

21Week 16! When I first saw it, I had to go back and look at the previous week, because I thought there might have accidentally been a two week span inbetween the two!

22I’d say 18 weeks. My sister is taking the most DARLING pregnancy pictures of herself each week (http://merricksart.blogspot.com/search/label/Pregnancy). I’m so impressed with people who actually manage to do them almost every week. I clearly have commitment issues
