Reader Karin emailed me to ask that I post a link to the Gwendolyn Strong foundation and their attempt to win $1Million dollars in the fight against Spinal Muscular Atrophy. You can read more about SMA here.
I’ve been reading through their blog and I’m so inspired by these dedicated and loving parents. They aren’t just working to cope with the devastating effects of the disease their daughter has, they’re working to reach out and help other families as well. Look at their sweet daughter dressed up like a piggy for Halloween!

Thank you for posting about SMA and helping to raise awareness and possibly $1 million dollars. I had our 2nd daughter on 5 October 2009 and she was diagnosed with SMA type 1. She died on 27 October 2009 so this means so much to me. Every time a new person learns of this disease it eases my broken heart.

Thanks again for posting this Jenna. Although the GSF did not finish first and win a million dollars, they did finish in 6th place and have been awarded $100,000! Hopefully a cure is even closer now thanks to your post =)
