Back when we were engaged, I left Dallas for my parents home a few weeks before the wedding. At that time I was giddily romantic (I’ve become so complacent already!), and so I surfed all over Etsy to find the perfect pack of cards to gush sickeningly sweet things in and leave for my love in the weeks leading up until we reunited for our wedding day. That’s how I found a shop filled with witty cards, known as Smack of Jellyfish. I ended up purchasing the “You verb my noun” pack, and it is still my favorite item in the shop.
One of the cards features this sketch and phrase on the front:
The other six cards say:
You float my boat
You light my fire
You launch my rocket
You steam my mussels
You [verb] my [noun]
The last phrase is my favorite.
The winner of the Thank You #2 gets a $10 gift certificate good for any item in the Smack of Jellyfish shop. A with all of the giveaways this week, all you need to do for an entry is answer the following question in the comment section.
I’m always looking for cards (whether for romance, gratitude, or just because) on Etsy. What shop should I purchase my next card from?
Comments close at 11:59 pm on 2/22/2010, and the winner will be announced on Saturday. Entries that don’t answer the question will be deleted because I like when people follow directions.
*If you end up buying something from an Etsy seller I mention, please let them know you found their shop through That Wife. If I can build up a good supply of positive feedback from sellers chances are high I can host more giveaways in the future!

They do have a card section which seems pretty cool, and you can create postage! =)

I’m a sucker for anything that reminds me of pretty cards my grandma has from England (and anything that makes me think of England) so this card that said mum on it from Hanmade was an immediate favorite! I like that she sticks with the same bright colors that add something extra too each card. Plus I love the matching gift tags!

I bought a card from her (“I love you more than coffee”) that I intended to give my husband on our wedding day, but because of all the chaos that morning, I completely forgot. So I’m giving it to him on our 1st anniversary instead.

I love having a stash of random blank cards to have for all sorts of occasions.
My two favorite etsy shops are:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/gallardoworks
and http://www.etsy.com/shop/artistscs28
From artistscs28 I also love her mini notebooks which are perfect for keeping in your purse so you always have paper to write thoughts, lists, notes, etc. down on.
February 22nd, 2010 on 2:14 pm
I love etsy in general, but for cards we like to ummmm “make our own”. By that I mean we shop random clearence cards and will send cards that are completely inappropriate, but with words marked out to make it occassion appropiate. For example, for fathers day we gave his dad, a priest, a Hanukkah card. But we included a fathers day message. Our families are used to our silliness and look forward to the crazy cards more than the presents.

cindymindypindy’s shop! The birds on the wire spelling out “Thank You” just kill me- in a weird way it reminds me of that cartoon that Pixar did with all of the birds on a wire.
