While I was brainstorming ideas for this week of giveaways, my mind immediately went to “antiquing”. I love visiting vintage/thrift/antique shops and digging through their wares for treasures. It’s not something I do very often though because unless I’m in a place like Goodwill my chances of falling in love with something I simply can’t afford but find myself attempting to justify are quite high (hello antique malls!). But, for the sake of this giveaway, I realized I could go and browse, and my chances of buying something pricey were low as I needed something both inexpensive to ship and somewhat universally appealing.
The apron That Husband gave me for my birthday a few years ago is one my favorite things in the kitchen, and whenever I put it on I feel so flirty and domestic (and I also smile at the thought of how sweet TH is, and has always been). I admit to preferring full aprons for my own use, since I’m rather messy and end up with flour all over my breasts unless they are protected by an apron, but I love the pattern on this antique number and thought it might make the winner feel flirty and domestic in the kitchen as well.
Hey look, it even fits pregnant ladies!
Please keep in mind that this is an antique, so it won’t look shiny and new. I prefer to think of it as “well loved”. The previous owner might have made countless birthday cakes, breakfast in mind, and delicious pot roasts in this very apron. Maybe some of her success will rub off on you!
The question to be answered for this giveaway…
Link me to a favorite recipe of yours. I’m always looking to build up my folder of meal possibilities!
Comments close at 11:59 pm on 2/24/2010, and the winner will be announced on Saturday. Entries that don’t answer the question will be deleted because I like when people follow directions.

Eeeek! That is super cute. I have no aprons, but I always think to myself “I should get an apron, they’re so adorable!”
Any soup with beans and greens makes me happy, and this one has garlic and sundried tomatoes too-

I love vintage or homemade aprons!
I was shocked when my bacon-crazy husband loved this vegetarian recipe, but it’s become part of our regular rotation. In winter I switch out some of the spring veggies for seasonal equivalents like kale. http://www.pinkofperfection.com/2009/05/spring-stir-fry/

Ok I know you said that you will delete comments that don’t follow the rules but you did ask for one of our favorite recipes and this is truly my favorite… although since it is one my mom gave me I only have it typed up so I’m going to email it to you instead
It is my mom’s baklava recipe and SO yummy!
February 24th, 2010 on 9:28 am
PS Here is my favorite “meal” recipe (although IF there is any left over baklava I normally call it breakfast). I made it for our Christmas celebrations this year and it went over so well! I follow the recipe exactly except for the bourbon part of course

One of my favorite recipes is posted at my blog - the most amazing mac and cheese ever! http://ashinwi.wordpress.com/2010/01/17/the-most-amazing-mac-and-cheese-recipe-ever/ I want to make it more amazing by adding a touch of truffle oil, but I haven’t tried it (yet!).

Oh, I love this apron. I’m hoping that one day I will be able to inherit all of my grandmother’s aprons, along with her amazing abilities to cook and bake like no other person I know!
One of my favorite recipes is from a Dutch cooking blog, but it is delicious and fairly easy (other than chopping everything up!): http://www.kayotic.nl/blog/?p=3052
February 24th, 2010 on 9:40 am
That apron is a thousand kinds of adorable.
I’m not sure it’s earned favorite status yet, but I made this pretzel mustard chicken a few nights ago and I’m selfishly bogarting the flavorful crunchy leftovers from my husband. So good, and fairly healthy to boot.

Please excuse the shameless plug with a link to my blog, but this really is my very favorite recipe, and it came from a church cookbook, so it’s not online anywhere else (that I’ve found).

Use the healthy request cream of chicken soup, sub out 2% cheese for the full-fat variety, try whole-wheat egg noodles, use reduced-fat Ritz, and skip the margarine to cut down on calories for this casserole.
February 24th, 2010 on 9:52 am
if you haven’t tried these carrots, i would HIGHLY recommend that you do. they are super easy, plus you can cook chicken or something else at the same time (i would also recommend pastor ryan’s cajun meatloaf).
http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/11/roasted-carrots-by-pastor-ryan/
you can use rosemary or whatever other herb in place of the thyme, but the fresh thyme adds so much.

Love the apron - it’s very cute!!
This is just one of my favorite recipes - I love to bake, and I don’t mind cooking - unless it’s after a very full day of work. Of course my recipe is from Bakerella - I love her!! Since I found out about Red Velvet Cake, I have gone bananas! So moist, and delicious, pretty, and fun to make! The most difficult thing about this recipe was finding the Red Velvet Cake Mix - which for some reason they don’t sell in most of the grocery stores in my neighborhood.

I won’t post a link. I have a recipe that everyone loves when I make it. Truth be told, it came from a staple cookbook - The Joy of Cooking. It’s called “Spanish Rice.” It tastes better than most versions you get from a box and at a restaurant. Just add a pit more cayenne to make it spicer!
BTW, Love the apron and I could so see myself making spanish rice in that!

You can do variations as you please, I don’t think I added some of the seasonings recommended on top of the “cheesesteak” sandwiches, and I usually use leftover pot roast.
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Philly-Cheesesteak-Sandwich-with-Garlic-Mayo/Detail.aspx
I make these with the above… use this recipe to make half as many rolls as it suggests (do the full recipe, but only shape into 8 rolls rather than the 16 recommended).

These go amazingly well together.

In my family, I am the pumpkin roll queen. We can’t have a Thanksgiving, Christmas or really any holiday without pumpkin roll. To reduce the guilt of all the sweets around holidays, I like to use a combination of 2 recipes.
