Business School…
I haven’t written about the incredibly long and draining process that has been business school applications (and if I thought they were incredibly long and draining how would TH, the one who actually submitted the applications say about it?) because I didn’t want several hundred people knowing he was going through the process and asking how it was going, especially if he didn’t get in anywhere. How rough would it be to deal with a bunch of strangers knowing you got rejected?
Guess I should have been crowing about it all along because he just had phone call from Booth School of Business in Chicago and he’s in! He got accepted! I’m so incredibly proud of him.
I should probably wait to post this until we know exactly where we are going, because we are waiting for one more offer before we decide, but this means that no matter what, we’re leaving Dallas to move somewhere north this Fall. I’ll update you this weekend and let you know for sure where we will be going, but for now we’re going to celebrate. We’re moving! Hooray!
Congratulations to TH!

1Jenna, you should explain to people that this is commonly known as the University of Chicago’s business school. It’s one of the tops in the nation!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!

9Congrats! What an accomplishment!
Forgive me if this is too personal, but I’m curious about your financial plans while he is in school, you have a baby, etc. I am considering going back to school, but don’t know if it’s going to get done before we start to have kids. How do you plan to make it work?

20Wow that’s great! Another Chicago resident here - for almost 6 years now, and I love it! One of my best friends is getting her MBA at Booth and she really likes it - she’s in the part time program, as she’s still working full time. Congrats to TH!

21Wow, I had a cousin who went there. I think this is a bigger achievement than you are stating - Booth is a TOP school!
Super excited for you and TH, but gosh this is a big change for you! Will you be starting Jenna Cole as a northern business after maternity leave?

I am definitely nervous about moving but I’m hoping that my blogging will help (as there are people who know of me who might not otherwise). I also have a contest up my sleeve that should hopefully spread the word a bit. So excited to announce it!

36Congrats to your husband! I’m in a PhD program now so i definitely know how arduous and maddening the process can be. This is so excellent. You must be so proud of him! I think you will like Chicago. I was raised in the Midwest and I love it! (In fact I’m back visiting now!)

37Congratulations to TH! I have to say I was hoping you’d move to Boston and be only an hour away from me, but Chicago is OK too

38Congrats! Even though I don’t frequently comment, I read faithfully! And, since Chicago is in my neck of the woods (I live on the other side of the lake in Michigan), I think I’ll be able to hire Jenna Cole to take some family pics!
PS We moved when I had a 6 week old. I know yours will be a little older than that, but I wanted to assure you that it’s very doable. I got packed very quickly-I was up all night anyway, so I figured I could at least be productive!

47Business school is draining on both the person attending and their spouse too!!! I can attest to this.
My hubby graduated last May from the Ross School of Business at U of Michigan. While it was a wonderful experience and a great university for him to have earned his MBA from… it was an intense program!
