Sunscreen
You probably thought sunscreen was a given. Sun = bad and creates cancer, sunscreen = good and prevents it. This article says not so fast. This site will help you learn what brand/type are your best bet.
Swagger Wagon
Who wouldn’t want a minivan after watching this?
Eat Dirt
Well you don’t have to eat it, but you should spend some time outside frolicking in it.
Cheaper Cleaning Products
Baking soda is the ultimate cleaning product. Merrick breaks it down for you.

Substitute Photographer For Writer
I wish this video didn’t swear. Look past that part and listen to the message and then if you’re a photographer (or other creative professional)… stop undercutting the rest of us and charge what you’re worth! Via Brand Camp Blog.
Kegels Not What I Thought
Maybe you don’t need to fit in 300 kegels a day like you previously thought? Thanks to Brie for the link.

Ever Lost a Camera
I did once. It was one of the saddest experiences of my life (I was a bit dramatic about it). Maybe someone will find it and post the photos on this blog.
43
I love both of these sites. I’m going to use 43 places to plan our trip to Europe. And I’ve been considering making a 101 in 1001 list for forever but I can’t seem to make it happen. Maybe the 43 things site will make goal settings easier.
Bad Romance/Newsies
My roommates in college were obsessed with Newsies. I never loved it like they did, but I do love this mashup. Via Geek in Heels

Aah! My Newsies! That is cool, though how on Earth did someone figure that out? Listening to Lady Gaga with Newsies on mute? What are the odds of that occuring at the same time?
And we are so getting ready to get a van. We were going down that road and instead of feeling morose about it, I’m actually quite giddy at the prospect!!! All that leg room, people room, stuff room! And yes, we will make van-owning look *gooooood*.

Now that we’re working around the garden I guess I get to squat and be closer to dirt, so I can check off two items of the list
The proposal video made me smile big time. That is really a great proposal.

That minivan video is hilarious! I think my favorite parts are the little girl dancing and the tea party. The Newsies video is hilarious too!

Well now I don’t have to feel guilty about not doing my kegels throughout this pregnancy! My mom always said she did them through 3 pregnancies and still had problems, but this article makes total sense. Tightening the muscle makes it seem like it would stretch less when you wanted it to, not be more supple. So, back to squatting!

I’m glad to hear that the mineral sunscreens my skin prefers are also better for me. The chemical stuff, even in sensitive skin formulas, has always aggravated my skin.
My husband also sent me that marriage proposal link and… it does nothing for me. I don’t know. I feel like it’s all flash, no heart. I’m just biased because I love that my husband proposed with no one else around (and was so overwhelmed that there’s no way he could have done a song and dance routine).
And that little girl rocks!

That Newsies/Lady Gaga mashup reminds me…does anyone else think that Lady Gaga’s song Alejandro sounds like Ace of Base? Apparently I’m not the only one who’s noticed this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWZZRKV-_qU

Yes! I’ve totally been thrown off and thought Ace of Base was on the radio before I realized it was Lady Gaga! I’m glad to know it’s not just me.

Yes vinegar! I have my great grandmother’s wooden cutting block, and it’s great for cleaning that as well. Also, nothing else works better in my disposal or on glass.

I understand where that writer is coming from, but he sounds INSANE. Did he seriously say he’d BURN THEIR HOUSE DOWN?? That, plus gobs of swearing, makes me NOT want to listen to him, because he’s so over the top.
But I understand why you posted it. And I wouldn’t want to work for less than I actually deserve, either.

the proposal video = adorable!
the writer video = i want to hug him. He’s awesome! I rant about the same thing except with blogging. If you want to read a great post about that read this. http://www.mom-101.com/2010/05/nothing-in-life-is-free-except-it-seems.html It’s applicable to all bloggers not just mommy bloggers. I stopped doing “free” giveaway posts a long time but when I tell companies that I charge a fee they balk and tell me that they don’t have a budget for it. No marketing budget and you’re a household name? Yeah right.

How old is that video? I finally watched it and I’m certain one of my professor’s showed us that same video at BYU to try and teach us the same concept.

“stop undercutting the rest of us and charge what you’re worth!” This combined with the guy’s complaints about amateurs doing things for free makes me think that you’re saying that people who aren’t as good as you should charge more so that customers will choose you rather than them. I can’t understand how that is somehow more upstanding than them wanting to charge less so that they’ll get the business.
It is not like the guy was concerned that other people were being scammed into working for less than they should, all he cared about was getting his own money. Not especially admirable. I’m fine with people charging whatever price they think is fair for their services. You can charge $25k per wedding if you think that is what you’re worth. But why complain about others charging $500 if that is what they think that they are worth?!
This reminds me of a state official complaining about a volunteer because the volunteer was “taking away a perfectly good job.” Hello?

I agree that the writer seems a little unhinged. Why all this outrage? If someone offers to pay you less than you think you’re worth, just say no. Don’t take it as some huge insult. That’s just self-important. I’m a lawyer and if people don’t want to pay my fees they’re free to go to someone cheaper or represent themselves. That’s not an insult to me. That’s just capitalism.
