Mission Blogcation Accomplished Part II
Apparently the post below stopped working (what is up with that?!?!?). Don’t worry if you’ve already commented, they are all still there and I can access them and see your links. I’ll work on trying to figure out how to solve the problem, but in the meantime I thought it would be best to put up a second post where people can introduce themselves if they are so inclined. To quote from my last post:
Comment below and tell me a little bit more about yourself (as Mandy urged her readers to do). There are so many of you that comment on an almost daily basis, but I don’t know much more than your screen name! I would love to hear things like:
- Age
- Location
- Hometown
- Profession
- Marital status
- Children?
- Likes or dislikes
- How you found That Wife
- One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future (this is the point where I always say that I raised pigs in my front yard growing up, or that I can blow milk out of my eye, or that my husband grew up in Poland)
- Anything else you think I should know
A la CJane, if you comment below with some or all of that information, and leave your own blog address, I’ll stop by and comment on one of your posts. And my comment will be a real one, not just “Hey, you are awesome!” because I believe the only good kind of comment is a genuine one. Maybe I’ll like what I find and I’ll subscribe and say hi every once in awhile from here on out (but no guarantees on that one, I only have 24 hours in each day, and I swear T1 wants to take charge of like 20 of them). I’m hoping that this post will turn into a place where I can refer back to when I read through a particularly insightful comment and realize I want to know more about the person who left it. Did you know that sometimes I talk about you guys with TH? One of you will say something and your name and comment will be the topic of our dinner conversation that night. Now I’ll be able to be really specific when I say things like “She’s the one who said this” or “She’s the one who did that”. Super cool.
Anyone good with coding and such have any idea why that post could have stopped loading? I suspect it has something to do with the comment count but my OBGYN post only has 3 comments less than that one and it is working fine…

* How you found That Wife - through weddingbee, your October wedding was a week before mine!
* One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future - I love tattoos. People don’t assume I am the type when we first meet if I’m dressed more conservatively, but I have 3 larger tattoos (right sholder/back, left hip/side, and right calf) that have been completed in about 16 hours of total work.
* Anything else you think I should know - I love reading about your life because we are almost the same age and were married at the same time but so much about our lives is so different! I’m an atheist so reading more about the real lives of people who follow different faiths helps me keep from being judgmental or making assumptions about what I don’t know. Things we have in common are our beliefs about money/debt and natural childbirth. I’m loving all your posts about parenting so far, we seem to have a lot in common there too.

Likes or dislikes-I love working out, reading, hanging with my husband, and dreaming big dreams about our life together
How you found That Wife- gosh, now I don’t remember! It was probably a “this site links to that site…links to this site…”, and here I am.
One quirky thing about yourself- I have odd tastes, like I only like PLAIN yogurt, I love sour candy, and I actually *like* eating aspirin and letting it dissolve on my tongue. I KNOW.
Anything else you think I should know- I grew up wanting to be a single entrepreneur and live in a brownstone in New York. I didn’t live in NY, but I traveled a LOT and lived in 5 major cities before I did get married at 28. I never wanted to get married until I met my hubs, and then… there was no stopping it! Once married, I didn’t really want to have kids-our son was an “oops”, but now that we have him I can’t imagine a better, more fulfilling life. I quit my (very successful) job 3 days before he was born, and I have NEVER looked back! I’m ridiculously happy.

17So glad you are back – but even more glad that your bloggy break was a good one.
I will remind you that I’m one of the people who read you back when you were That Girl, when I was newly into wedding-planning blogs. Don’t remember how I found you, but I’ve read you through That Bride and now That Wife. I am in it for the long haul.
I’m 29, living in the midwest, but grew up in a town of 10,000 people in the Great Plains. Lots of people don’t think that’s small, but my town was the biggest one for hundreds of miles.
My husband is a medical resident; I’m a freelance writer. We have no kids and no pets at this point. I like poetry, Chopin, Bravo reality shows, contemporary fiction, spicy food, snow, grammar, and guacamole. I dislike text messaging, tomatoes, rudeness, and germs.
Something that you (and TH, perhaps?) might find interesting about me is that I have been to Poland twice – once to Warsaw and twice to Krakow. Beautiful cities, full of history, and filled with some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. My husband spent a month in Krakow teaching at the medical school. He loves languages and we both truly enjoyed our time in Poland, so now we say the Polish version of “bon apetit” before dinner each night. (I don’t know how to spell it, but it sounds like “smahch naygo.”)
It’s so fun to read through everyone’s comments. Welcome back to the blogging world!

How you found That Wife: I think from Weddingbee. I found Weddingbee a year or so ago and Mrs. Avocado was one of the bloggers I read in entirety in about a day
One quirky thing about yourself that might help me remember you in the future: I can’t get enough of hair bands (Guns N Roses, Poison, Def Leppard, etc.)
Anything else you think I should know: You chronicling your pregnancy and birth experience with a midwife/at home has seriously made me consider that as an option when the time comes for me. The statement you made to the tune of “the more interventions you have, the more interventions you have to recover from” really hit a chord with me. I still don’t know what I will do and I am years away from having children but now I consider this more of an option. Oh and it made me realize you are one of the bravest people I have encountered – putting all of that out there is kind of amazing!

How I found That Wife: Found you while admiring your wonderful photography work. Stumbled on your personal blog and was intrigued to find another fellow LDS photog in the Dallas/Fort Worth area who had so much in common with me (becoming first time mommies within months of each other, cloth diapering, overall view points, etc.). How you found That Wife: Jenna’s my name-twin Bee! : ) I remember watching her on BeeTV before I applied, and I thought she was super cool (/blush)
One quirky thing about yourself: Hmmm. I live in a house that was purchased from the Sears Catalogue, and is apparently haunted by a woman who was murdered by her husband years and years ago. Also, I taught my puppy to sneeze when you say, “Bless you!”
Anything else you think I should know: I admire you for always staying true to yourself and for having the courage to speak your mind. I also think T1 is pretty stinkin’ adorable! I hope we’ll be able to meet at a Bee Meetup one day!

I must know your puppy-sneeze secret! I tried teaching my dog to bring me her leash but she just learned to bite it.

* I don’t have a blog, though I have thought about it and a few people have told me I should. I just don’t deal with nasty people very well :/ Speaking of, I am glad you are back from your break. Just know that there are many more people that like and respect you than there are trolls.

Location - Currently Gainesville, FL and we loathe it with a passion. Looking to move to Seattle potentially soon.
Hometown - Moved all over the country growing up, but I count my home as San Francisco, where I once lived and it really shaped me into the person I am today.
Profession - Professional Student and Domestic Goddess (somewhat relating to the poor Florida job market). Going to school to be a Social Worker and Counselor.
Marital status - Happily married (2 years as of tomorrow)!!
Children - Hopefully within the next five years.
Likes - Silliness, music, food (!!), originality, photography, reading, politics, philosophy, hiking, simple living, and volunteering.
Dislikes - Flakiness in people (only in biscuits - lol), gossip, text messaging, and when young women treat themselves with disrespect by not representing themselves as ladies.
Quirkiness: I love every vegetable, but if it’s a crunchy vegetable, it HAS to be cooked first. Also, I’m a Humanist. I’ve noticed it’s pretty hard to find other Humanists, especially in my region.
I love reading your blog because you are fresh, insightful, have real heart, don’t sugarcoat, and are different. You are completely different from me, and that’s okay. I relate in your ability to be forthright. That and I’ve always been genuinely interested in the intimate stories of others, from an individual place and a sociological one; it’s very fascinating to me.

39Hi Jenna,
Sorry, I just sent you an email with all of that info after reading the last post, before reading this one! I guess I was just too impatient to respond. Again, apologies for adding to your inbox. Also, one more thing you should know: it was through your blog that I found all of my favorite bees’ blogs. Thank you so much for that! (Also, I really wish Mrs. Toucan would start blogging again. I super enjoyed reading hers!)

I am NOT 32 yet… just 28. And sadly, I’m not living in Houston, but rather a small town in northwest Washington (Anacortes). Sorry!

• Children: I often feel that I am still a child
• Likes or dislikes: Likes learning obscure facts, reading Lonely Planet guides to countries I have no immediate plans to visit, a good night out, a good night in. Dislikes vegetables.
• How I found That Wife: Um. Well this might be awkward but I had started a love affair with the show Big Love, which I think is awesome television and actually depicts the Barb, a lapsed LDSer, very respectfully, and started poking around on the interwebs to learn more about mormonism. So I came for the funny underwear rumors and stayed for the honest writing, great photos and strong personality.
• One quirky thing about yourself: Your husband is from Poland, my longterm boyfriend is from Scotland. I can relate to your posts on cultural differences and I loved your Halloween t-shirts and may recreate them myself some day.
• Anything else you think I should know: I blog at http://thetravelingturtle.wordpress.com/ and I’d love it if you would stop by! Its a little blog with big aspirations but I’m doing tons of photography posts lately so maybe you’ll like some of those. Its primarily going to be my travel/photography blog and I started it last year when I went traipsing around South East Asia by myself and met my boyfriend there.
Jenna, my life could not be more different than yours. I’m a diet coke guzzling atheist living the Sex and the City life in Brooklyn and the hippie life on the road, and at only a few years older than I you have a whole list of things I don’t want (a husband, baby, permanent address, minus the nice lenses, wouldn’t mind those!) but I can’t stop reading your blog! Maybe I like peeking into a world so different from my own. Maybe I like another strong minded person to voice opinions opposite my own. Maybe I just like pretty pictures. Either way, keep doing what you’re doing. As for the negative comments, remember, its better than zero! I’d kill for a readership like yours even if it meant some people told me they hoped my air turned off while I was scuba diving. Chin up!
