Brain Dump

Posted by Jenna, Under Uncategorized

1. Why Italy is Hilarious

My friend Lizzie served a two year mission to Italy and wrote this really funny post about what a run-in with the Mafia can really be like.

2. Why Kimmie Chose WordPress over Blogger

Kimmie is one of the readers I visited during my “Meet the Readers” blog tour (still working on that by the way), and I loved this post she wrote about why she personally chose WordPress over Blogger.

3. Bring Birth Home

I like this site. I’m sure it’s obvious why.

4. Training Your Spouse

Approximations really work. Amy Sutherland talks about What Shamu Taught Her About a Happy Marriage. Have you used approximations with your spouse?

5. Clickin’ Moms

I think there are a lot of you out there who have a dSLR and want to learn how to use it to take better pictures of your kids. This site sounds like it could be the answer! Might be good for those who only have a point and shoot as well.

6. Chore Buster

I’m so going to start using Chore Buster when TH is at business school and has a lighter workload. And maybe even during August when he has the entire month off.

7. Old Spice Guy

Everyone has already seen this, right? RIGHT!?!?! (Watch it if you haven’t!)

  1. I love Brain Dump days! There’s always good stuff.

-I loved Lizzie and Kimmie’s post. The mafia stories are great and I’ve been considering a wordpress change, but not sure. My biggest problem is creating a nickname for the url. Once that’s decided I will make the switch.
-Bring Birth Home is such a great site. I will definitely bookmark that for later.
-Love the article from Amy Sutherland and will be applying that to an unsuspecting American husband victim. Haha.
-I love Chorebuster. (Just renewed.) It’s been a great tool in dividing the chores up between Ty and I. Is it sad that I’m looking forward to someday adding kids to it and using its little reward system?
-I’ve never seen that commercial before! HE-Lar-EE-Us!

  2. Have you seen the Old Spice guy in the Harold B Lee Library? It’s AWESOME

    Jenna Reply:

TH showed it to me yesterday. It’s surprisingly amazing. I would NOT have guessed that an HBLL production could be so good.

That ones great! Did you know that the advertising company that made the original is owned by a BYU grad as well?

Lots of great links in this post…thank you!

I love the Old Spice Guy videos. Have you seen the one where he does a proposal for someone on Twitter?

    Jenna Reply:

Yes! What a lucky girl. They should play it at their wedding.

If your guy is into online gaming or role playing games- or you just want something sillier than Chore Buster, check out http://www.chorewars.com

My husband and I did this when we first moved in together and it really helped us to set up more equitable sharing of chores (mostly by allowing him to see just how much more I was doing than he way!).

I heard about that site but I couldn’t remember the address! I’m going to introduce that one to Grunty very early on.

That’s awesome! My husband would so go for this.

  5. Hahaha, yes, the Old Spice commercials are really great. I love how they totally mock the ridiculous over the top masculinity of the body spray/body wash commercials. It’s fabulous :)

Jenna! It’s Marissa (from BYU Rogers hall, King Henry, etc.) You have a baby and he is so cute! I’m glad that I found your blog. Anyway, if you love that Old Spice commercial you should YouTube “New Spice, study like a scholar.” It’s about the HBLL at BYU. Also, did you know that the script writer of the Old Spice commercials is LDS? He’s in my stake here in Portland. Anyway, just some little FYI’s. Glad to see all is going well for you!

  7. Hey Jenna!

Thanks for linking to Bring Birth Home! Is that photograph of you giving birth at home? Gorgeous picture, none the less.

    Warmly,

    Kaitlin,

It is me! I gave birth at home in April. I plan to do it again with my next one as well. :)
