T1 at 3 Months

Posted by Jenna, Under baby

3 Months

Nicknames: Boo, Boo Boo, Boo Boo Crockett (I like to sing the Davy Crockett song to you replacing Davey with Boo Boo), Grunty
Temperament: You’re happy and smiley in the morning and in the evening. Sometimes you have these quiet spells where you stare around the room, looking left, right, left, right.
Things I Could Do Without: You are still waking every 2 hours (sometimes hourly) after you wake for your 2 am feeding, you still scream about 50% of the time in your car seat, you like to reach down and grab handfuls of poop when you have a loaded diaper and then smear it all over yourself and your clothes.
Item/Toy We Love The Most: PUJ Tub
Item/Toy You Love The Most: The rattle I hand you on your changing table. You’re starting to learn that if you hold it in your fist and bring it to your mouth you can explore it with your tongue.
Things I’m Loving Most Right Now: When you take 3 hour naps in the afternoon, you sitting up in your Bumbo, the way you look in my eyes and squeal/smile, putting you on my chest and having you grunt and move around, Dad thinks you said your first word “Booyah”, sometimes you’ll stare straight into the camera lens for long periods of time when I take your picture.
Things You’re Loving Most Right Now: Nakie time on the changing table, going to town on your crown jewels, throwing your body forward while you sit with me at the computer, the first 30 seconds of tummy time when you lift your head up and look around at the world from a completely new angle, when I dance around and sing for you like a crazy person, facing forward in the Moby, sitting up and away from whoever is holding you so you can see all the things.

I think you’re really close to laughing for the first time. I’m looking forward to that first giggle so much!

Sometimes you like to play the “I’m not gonna look at you!” game. No matter how many times I turn you and look into your eyes, you turn your head to look away. I had the man sitting on the airplane next to us hold you and you did it for him as well!

Dad accidentally referred to you as “”Grunty” during family prayer the other day. I giggled the rest of the way through the prayer. I guess we need to start calling you by your real name a little bit more often.

Your head is kind of flat (I’m worried you need a helmet) but no matter how many times I set you in your swing to sleep you always manage to wriggle your way flat on your back.

I did this video outside. I liked the setting, but it was really noisy with cars driving by and lawnmowers buzzing so I had to delete all of the accompanying sound and I miss all of his grunts and squeals. I think I’ll do it inside next time.

Here’s something fun! The change between months 1 and 2 is just insane.

  1. Umm, I’m so glad I’m already pregnant. This post should come with a warning label: “Will make your ovaries jump.” ; )

Awww, cuuute! T1 is so adorable! I love that he already knows to pose for his photographer mother!
Crazy the difference between months 1 and 2, and then very little (to me!) between 2 and 3. I’m sure you can see the difference, though. And I love the little onesies you have for each month milestone!

The gross part: Does he grab his poop out of his diaper while it’s still on him? How does he get his hand down there? And eeew. :-)

I imagine he probably grabs it while she’s changing him as he probably doesn’t have the control yet to actually reach into his diaper while it’s on. When I watched him last week and had to change a poopy diaper I had my boyfriend hold T1′s hands so he couldn’t grab anything. You seriously need 3 or 4 hands to change a poopy diaper without a mess (well, I do anyway!).

She laughed for the first time last week. Big, open mouth, Bahahaha at her Daddy. One of the best moments of my life, just like it was when her big brother did it!

  17. Just perfect! Please excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean about a helmet?

    Congratulations on 189!!!

More and more babies are getting flat heads these days (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brachycephaly) and if it’s really bad they have to wear a foam helmet like 23 hours a day to help shape it correctly. I’ve had a few friends who had to do this and it doesn’t seem to bother the baby at all. Just do a search for Brachycephaly and look at images.

  21. I love this post! After watching the video, I had to go re-read the “things I could do without” section so that I could be reminded that even Baby P has his moments of not being adorable (waking every two hours?! I cannot imagine that I would still love anyone after this…).

And I have to say - his buzz cut is WAY WAY cute. I think it suits him wonderfully. Also, I’m so glad you posted the tips for photographing babies. I can see some of them in action in your photos, which are all tops!

  32. Aw, such a cutie.
I learned in one of my psyc classes that when babies turn their heads away from something, it usually means that there’s too much stimuli and they’re trying to sorta calm themselves. I don’t know if that makes sense, but maybe that’s why he turns away?
