Dallas Meetup, August 17th 2010
T1 and I will be at The Soda Gallery from 6:30-7:30 pm on August 17th. I hope you’ll stop by and say hello if you can! I’m planning to leave at 7:30 to take T1 home and put him to bed, so try to come well before that if you’d like to chat.
I know going to a blogger meetup can feel a bit strange, like you’re doing something that is kind of “nerdy” or “weird”. It’s not nerdy and it’s not weird! No nerdier or weirder than reading my blog everyday, anyway. Just come, okay?
And for your daily dose of T1 cuteness, look at those little monkey toes!
This is my baby blessing blanket, and it’s our favorite for several reasons. The biggest being the way he threads his fingers and toes through the little holes. The cuteness! I die!
Will you come to Europe as well for a blogger meetup?
Have fun!

1You should totally do this in Chicago. It would be a fun way to meet some readers/friends in your new city! Plus, T1 is super cute and I’d love to meet you both!

2I Love Monkey Toes!! I would love to live at Dallas

3Adorable. I’d be freaked out about safety (though I’m not sure why) and not want to leave the baby alone with the blanket, but really, such a precious picture!
I hope that you have fun with your meetup! I’d come if I were anywhere near.

I happened to read your tweet yesterday about deleting a lot of TW emails that you realized you were never going to respond to. I will say up-front that just started reading your blog last week (as a result of the link from Healthy Tipping Point), but I’ve also spent hours going back and reading your blog posts from the last 11 months in the past week as well, so I’ve read almost all of your pregnancy story by now.
I can’t tell you how much I connected with you and your choices to have a home birth and use a midwife and I knew almost instantly that I’d enjoy reading your blog. I also think that the photography tips are awesome and I’ve actually bookmarked some of them to go back and try them out when I’m not stuck at my desk at work!
I also sent you an e-mail that told you how much I enjoyed your blog so far, even though I don’t share all of your same views, I think we have a lot of things in common. However, after reading that tweet, I feel really sad that you just deleted the e-mails. I know that you must get a lot of them and right now your life is in the process of moving from Texas to Illinois and you have a small child, so you have a lot going on. I’m not denying that.
I just wanted to comment and let you know that reading that tweet really made my heart sink. I’m really sad that you couldn’t just take the time to write back and simply say “thanks” to those of us that are enjoying your blogging and your story. I think what makes me the saddest is that ever since I started reading your blog, I haven’t been able to stop talking about it and some of the interesting things about child birth and pregnancy that I read. I sent you an e-mail to let you know that I like it and I want you to keep blogging and I am looking forward to reading both forward and backward in your life!
My boyfriend kept asking me over and over if I’d heard back from you and I kept defending you saying that you had a lot going on and you’ve made several comments in the posts that I’ve read about your slowness to respond to e-mails and I figured that you’d get around to me eventually. But, right now, I’m really sad to think that might not be the case.

Amy,
I actually kept your email
it was very kind and extremely thoughtful and really brightened my day. It might be awhile before I reply but I will do so.
If others read this comment I hope you will keep in mind that there is only one of me and thousands of you. I tell myself that I’m just “going to do better” but it never happens because I have way too many other things on my plate. Jenna Cole is still something like $10000 in debt and so I need to be focusing my time on my business to try to pay off my investment. Plus I try to write and post new content on That Wife each day.
Oh and I have a baby and a husband too!
So if you don’t hear back from me, either for a long time or never, it’s not because I don’t care, it’s because I need to relieve some of the load on my shoulders so I can get to bed a little bit earlier each night.

Thank you for taking the time to comment back! I know that you have a great deal of things going on right now in your life (I read the blog … ha ha!) and I do appreciate you getting back to me.
I was mostly sad that I thought that you just deleted without even sending a quick note saying “thanks for reading!” or something along those lines, mainly because I’ve so enjoyed reading what you had to say.
My true intention was to say Keep Up The Good Work! I know that sometimes people aren’t the kindest in the comments here, but I really wanted you to know that there are lots of us out here who are enjoying the content! Even those of us who are newer readers!
Have a great weekend,
Amy

8I’m kind of jealous, since I joined the church later and don’t have any such artifact from my childhood! I guess tradition will start with me.

9B’s toes and fingers do the same thing. It’s kind of cute until she messes it up for me and cries out in frustration.
