1. Internet
We still don’ t have it. Maybe by Tuesday. If you care to recall, we moved on August 27th and we contacted them in advance to try to get things set up right when we moved in.
2. Hair Loss
It has begun and TH is convinced that something is wrong with me.
3. Moving in
We have our stuff. So far we have discovered a broken chair (fixable), broken lamp (not sure), scratched entertainment center door, scratched table leg. I think next time we are going to move ourselves so we have more control.
4. Bien Living
I told Kristin our budget and she is taking care of the living room decor for us. The color scheme so far is white, beige, brown, blue/aqua. Of course I still can’t see the living room because it’s covered in boxes, but we’re getting there.
5. T1
I still haven’t posted his 4 month update, and it’s already time for me to take his 5 month pictures! I have the video and pictures ready, just need the connection to post them (see #1 above). This week I was holding him in my lap with his face turned toward me and I brought him in close and said “ooooooooo” like an owl. I had cheese breath and apparently he found that very exciting because the opened his eyes up wide and dove in and tried to eat my face off. It was ridiculously cute. I hope this means he is going to start developing an interest in foods soon!*
6. Chicago
I love love love Chicago. I load up T1 in the stroller and walk to the local farmer’s market for groceries for the night, our apartment is flooded with light, the ocean lake is so beautiful to look out on, I’ve met so many people I adore, and Jenna Cole business is slowly coming up. The fact that I was supposed to have two shoots today and both got cancelled can’t even get me down. I’m in love with this city!
*We’re going to be doing baby-led weaning so I’m waiting for him to tell me he’s ready, we won’t necessarily be relying on the 6 month rule.

B has started eating solids now. It’s so much fun! We waited for her to tell us as well, despite my mom’s constant “That baby needs some food!” and her convincing people that they should call me to tell me the same thing. She would mimic us chewing and kind of reach for things..She loves oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and squash. She doesn’t like fruits too much. I look forward to your posts on T1′s first meal.

The hair loss is crazy. I didn’t experience it with my first but with my second it was insane. Hair everywhere, I even got bald spots and I have a lot of hair
Hopefully yours doesn’t get that bad.

I feel like I’m going bald. I’ve always had SO much hair, and now it’s coming out by the handfuls. I cut it off short so that it was easier to deal with, but I’m still not a happy camper.
Dot started cereal a little less than a month ago, and she’s experimenting with fruits and stuff. I’ve been nursing her, but she’s weaning herself WAY earlier than Jack did. She just wants to play instead of eat, so she’s hungry all the time. It was really heartbreaking at first, because I nursed Jack ’til he was 9 months old, and wanted to do the same with Dorothy. No such luck… this girl’s ready for FOOD.
Oh well. It’ll be nice to have my boobs back, I guess.

Sometimes I wish I lived in the city instead of the suburbs — being able to walk around so much would be great! Wait until winter comes, though

Man, I lose enough hair as it is - I can’t even begin to think how it will be after I have a baby. It’s so bad that in our carpeted bedroom, we have to sweet it with a broom (so it all clumps together) because our poor vaccuum can’t handle it!
I can’t believe you are still waiting on internet! I would’ve snapped by now. Is it one company being problematic, or is it a building-related issue?

I had a lot of hair loss in high school, but it was all stress related. I guess the good thing about baby hair-loss is that supposedly… you make more hair when you’re pregnant, so when you lose more hair, it’s just returning to the regular levels.

Oh, you’re making me miss the city SO MUCH. You’re heading into my favorite time of year in Chicago. I love autumn. Try and head up to Michigan to go apple picking, if you can. (Still have a car, right?) That’s one of my favorite fall memories there.

I love brown with shades of blue, it’s so attractive- can’t wait to see the living room when it’s all done up!
As for the hair loss, I clicked on the link and read through, and the part about hair tourniquets is very good advice- this happened to one of my friend’s little boys, the hair wrapped around his penis- and it was quite painful for him.
One good thing about the loss of internet is that we’ll have a ton of posts come flooding in all at once to read when you do get it!

My little girl has been breastfeeding and @ around 5 months she started showing interested in other food, so we started giving her a little rice cereal in the morning with breast milk. It just went from there so fast! Now, she’s a little over 10 months and still BFs, but also gets her baby food and finger foods… when she’s not chasing us around for our “normal” food. It’s nuts! Good luck!!
Love reading your updates about the baby. =D It’s not always easy being a Mom and making decisions for your family, so I appreciate you being so honest on your blog.

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs. Midwestern people are awesome, they just are. I was so so ready to leave Chicagoland (and all of the Midwest) when I got married, but there are times that I definitely miss it.
I would recommend trying Biotin supplements for the hair loss. It’s a B vitamin. When I was on birth control, I was stressed and btwn the BC and the stress I was losing hair. I started taking Biotin and it worked very well, and it’s a super inexpensive supplement. It seemed to make my hair grow pretty quick though, just fyi. You may have to get it cut more often.

New visitor here — baby-led weaning … my daughter didn’t do that until she went to visit grandma for 2 nights when she was 2 years, 3 months old (obviously, she was eating and drinking many other things too) … she still asked when she got home, I said “not right now” and she never asked again! So, how long is too long? It’s a tough question … I never planned to nurse that long … it just never felt like an issue, ya know?

My hairdresser had great hair while pregnant because of the prenatal vitamins. She wants to go back on them, having had her second child already, because she wants the great hair back!

Sounds like Chicago is going to be a perfect fit, I can’t wait to see the living room, and the hair loss thing… ugh… I hope yours doesn’t last as long as mine did! Finally we did the same method for moving the twins into solids and they did not fully transfer until about 11 months… around 7 months I introduced one or two solids, then 8 months a few more… I took it really slow and honestly neither of my kids are too picky… I think it’s a great thing to let your kid develop at his/her own pace and tell you when they’re ready for the next step

oh THE HAIR LOSS. isn’t it insane? mine came out in fistfuls. it finally started growing back last month — i basically have a short haircut on top of my long hair. attractive!
and yeah, my husband was convinced i had a terminal illness. he’d get into bed at nite, after seeing piles of my hair everywhere, and whisper: “are you SURE you’re okay?!”

Mandy was just talking about the hair loss thing on her blog too and how it looks when it grows back in. I never noticed anything drastic with my first child, but the second time around has been drastic. It started about a month ago (my little guy is 4.5 months old) and just falls out in fist fulls.
I have a really thick head of hair so I’m not really noticing a difference in appearance though.
Also, will you consider a post talking about baby-led weaning? I’m gonna make my own baby food this time around but I’m really interested in learning more about this once you have started.
