That Husband and I are going to a party (i.e. we’re going out on a date, which is a rather rare occurrence for us). Booth is hosting a theme with the party “Heroes and Villians” which means this is my favorite kind of event, A DRESS UP PARTY!
Care to help me brainstorm? It’s nice that they are holding this after halloween, which means I can dig through some clearance bins for discounted costumes if need be, but I’d like to go for something a bit more unorthodox. Maybe we will be a polar opposite hero/villian? Or two sets of silly heroes?
Bonus points if you can come up with a costume idea that incorporates my love of taking pictures. Wouldn’t it be awesome if I could wear my camera and have it be part of my costume? (TH is shaking his head right now, I love to carry my camera with me wherever I go!)
Just for fun… a picture of T1 from his 6 month photo shoot. It’s been a long time since you’ve seen pictures of him hasn’t it? My bad. Let’s not let it happen again.

You should totally go as Carmen Sandiego and TH can be the gumshoe.

Red coat, red fedora, black pants, black shirt. Very simple, I like it (plus I have an obsession with buying new coats, TH does not understand it). TH would just need suspenders and a trench over biz casual dress, right?

Ahhh! I’m going as Carmen Sandiego for Halloween! Super fun - do it!

You could also do the Carmen Sandiego costume while TH did Waldo from Where’s Waldo. It might be a little bit of a stretch to call Waldo a here, but it’s a clever match up!

Two non-heros- Clark Kent and Lois Lane- as journalist you could totally carry a camera and TH would look great as Clark Kent.

I once wore a superman shirt underneath a white button down shirt for Halloween (which I unbuttoned of course!).

I just thought of this costume today- from UP, being ellie and carl, dressing all 50′s style and then carry a big bouquet of balloons. I guess if you wanted a villain you could include the bad guy who lives in paradise falls. I really think it would be cute, but maybe not necessarily for this party

Agreed. SO CUTE! I would think that this is a pair that will start showing up at dress up parties more often. Wouldn’t getting two of those aviator helmets with the goggles be so fun too?

OH, how I love him! C and I were smurfette and gargamel last year! It was fun. Gargamel created smurfette (you could do the ugly evil version of her to be different since no one knows her as well as the blonde smurfette) but no one at the party knew that, so they just thought we were weird for doing that pair.
Spiderman is a photographer! Maybe you could be spider(wo)man and TH could be…one of his enemies. A pair from X-Men would be fun too!

The first thing I think of when you say wanting to incorporate a camera in a costume is paparazzi. Maybe you could be a paparazza (that is the correct word I checked wikipedia
) and TH could be his favorite movie/music star? It’s a bit unclear who would be the hero and the villain. Sometimes the paparazzi is more the ‘villain’ and sometimes the famous people are depending on behavior!

AMAZING. So creative. I think this is what we might do. But how can TH dress as a celebrity? Probably just normal clothes with a pair of obnoxiously large sunglasses?

This idea is awesome I think! He could be someone iconically famous like Michael Jackson or even just something recognizable like a rapper with major bling and oversized clothes. Can’t wait to see what you come up with! Oh, and drooling over the T1 cuteness.

This is what I was going to suggest! Huge sunglasses a must no matter what. And if he doesn’t want to portray a girl celeb (starbucks cup, small dog, huge purse, long messy hair), I would have him try to dress like ashton kutcher or justin timberlake or zac efron, like a too-cool-for-school kind of look. good luck!

Also came over from Reader to suggest villain=paparazzi and hero should NOT be michael jackson (how quickly everyone forgets he molested children) but a real hero - like Lady Gaga (I’d actually pay money for your hubby to dress up as Gaga) or male heroes that paparazzi follow… John Stewart?, Colbert?, Sully the pilot who landed in the Hudson, but is he followed by paparazzi? Maybe George Clooney? He is hero-esque in his work for Darfur, and the paps follow him around. Maybe hubs can just be generic celebrity/politician. Is it sad that I’m having a hard time coming up with male heroes? Chuck Bass

One of it favorite rock stars is Bono and I think he is a good guy, if a bit long winded. His outfit would be jeans and a cool jacket, sunglasses and an Irish accent if TH can pull it off!

I LOVE the paparazza idea. It’d be extra funny if TH were Lindsay Lohan or something. Maybe you could be superman and TH could put on a bald wig and be Lex Luther.

This has no basis from popular culture, but you guys could be a retired superhero trying to be inconspicuous (so jacket, hat, sunglasses, maybe superman t-shirt underneath) and his biggest fan girl/paparazzi that loves him and won’t leave him alone.

What if you were something really unexpected like Summer and Winter? (Winter being the Villian). I don’t know why, but that popped in my head.
I know that doesn’t incorporate the camera idea, but I thought it was a neat idea, regardless.
The baby is adorable.
