5 Months

Nicknames: Boo, Boo Boo, Grunty, WoochieWoo (that last one is courtesy of Dad)
Temperament: We’re convinced that you are making it your life mission to convince all of the women of the world (of childbearing age) to make some friends with you, because without fail you are a dream when we are around groups of women for a long time or for the few times we’ve left you with a sitter.
Things I Could Do Without: Sometimes you wake up 3-4 times between 7pm and 7 am, you still scream about 50% of the time in your car seat, lately you’ve taken to scratching yourself in this very repetitive motion while in the bath which turns your thigh raw because you scratch it over and over, I think you’ve dropped one of your naps, you peed on my jeans the other day.
Item/Toy We Love The Most: Your new walker from Target. You can’t reach the ground but you love sitting up and sucking on the steering wheel.
Item/Toy You Love The Most: The toy I have connected to your car seat. When you grab certain parts it sounds like you’re unwrapping a candy bar and I like to call out to you “Boo, are you enjoying your candy bar back there?”
Things I’m Loving Most Right Now: I think you are slowly starting to recognize that I’m someone important to you, how sweet you are when I have you sit in my lap while I work at the computer, dad went out of town and I let you sleep in the bed with me and each morning when I opened my eyes I saw you smiling so sweetly at me, you’re happy and smiling for much longer portions of the day.
Things You’re Loving Most Right Now: You laugh when tickled (not always just sometimes), scratching your thigh raw in the bathtub, burping up your milk and then “chewing your cud”, you love gathering up hair balls from the carpet and clutching them in your palm, you recently discovered that you can make high pitched squeals, sucking on my iPhone, gnawing on my finger.

You’ve now rolled front-to-back and back-to-front, but you can’t do it on demand and you seem to do it most when we’re out of the room. I’ll put you down on the floor and come back in the room to discover you’re in a completely different spot, facing a different direction, on your back instead of your front.

This month I experienced my first real moment of “mom panic”. I set you down in the office and later heard the sound of plastic crinkling. We were still living in a mess of boxes and unpacking and you had managed to roll right over to a pile of plastic wrap. Of course you wanted to bring that right up to your mouth because that’s your new favorite thing!

Lately we’ve been working on sitting up. You only last for 3-5 seconds at most but I expect to write that you’re sitting up unsupported by next month.

There are a lot more pictures this month due to our amazing new apartment. And my new lens.
