Sponsor Intro: Duet Letterpress
Duet Letterpress is the ideal advertiser for That Wife. They are a company I’ve purchased from multiple times, including business cards, tags, and notecards. I love that they are small, are a husband+wife team (Kacey and Julie), specialize in custom products, and that they have a blog where they link to fabulous things like this camera lens mug (also, our babies are only five days apart!). Kacey majored in business with a focus on international trade. Julie has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Graphic Design and worked as a graphic designer at an advertising agency/design firm before they started Duet Letterpress together in 2008. Kacey takes care of the business side of things and Julie is the creative genius.
When I asked Julie why she started Duet Letterpress Julie replied:
I saw letterpress printing as an extension of what I already knew and loved – designing. With doing our own printing, I’m able to have a hand in everything from start to finish. From brainstorming on pencil + paper to mixing ink to holding the freshly printed piece in my hand. I crave what I do and truly love it.
I also asked for a little bit of a glimpse into their personal life, and Julie’s reply made me laugh:
I’m Julie, half of the Duet duo. I’m a Cajun girl who loves traveling, dark chocolate, peonies, really good music and pretty things. My husband, Kacey, is the other half. He was born in Texas; raised in Tulsa. He loves movies, video games and has a crazy knack for trivia. He’s also passionate about sailing. Kacey and I met six years ago at a wedding. He was the Best Man; I was the Maid of Honor. True Story.
You can view their Etsy shop here, where beautiful items like this can be found. Everything is designed in-house and individually handprinted on our turn of the century pedal-operated Golding Pearl press. (I don’t actually know what a Golding Pearl press is, but I do know it creates beautiful things!)

Also, if you didn’t know, Julie is Mrs. Bird of Paradise on Weddingbee!
Absolutely love. I will remember them the next time I need stationary!!

1What perfect timing. I’ve been eyeing letterpress stationary on Minted, but I would much rather support an independent small business. Just placed an order for two sets on Etsy for DuetLetterpress cards!!

Hooray! I hope you’ll tell Julie you came from That Wife
. This targeted/personalized way of advertising is a lot harder, because I have to do all of the work to find people and keep them renewing!

I put TW in my comments, so she knew that you were her traffic driver! Honestly, I’m generally more inclined to click over to advertisers that provide a coupon code [hello Cheap readers!]. But the timing of this was perfect for me and she’s going to help get me the cards for a deadline I have next week.
I used to do letterpress Christmas cards but got frustrated with working with a separate artist and separate printer. Hoping that she will be the answer to my 2011 cards. Yippee!

The thing about a coupon is really helpful! I never know if it comes across as kind of schemey or something (haha, not a word but hopefully you get the idea). I’ll suggest that in the future!

Mrs. BOP was one of my favorite Weddingbee contributors when I was planning my wedding. I used to read her blog Coveiter too. I was sad when they decided to end it.
