Europe 2010: Pt II

Posted by Jenna, Under Poland

Seems apt to share the faux-engagement photos I did of my SIL and her soon-to-be-husband on Valentine’s Day, don’t you think? I’m bummed about the black circles on his face, but Zu does a good job conveying how much they adore each other with her own giant smiles.

I asked TH to translate this for me and he said, quote “Street of Praise God”. I’m guessing it flows better when you actually speak Polish!

I thought this area was adorable, and I wanted them to take pictures in front of it, but they said no. When I kept pushing they informed me that this was some sort of memorial for those who had died from an outbreak of a terrible illness (I can’t remember which one). Ooops.

Turns out my brother-in-law has some camera skills! I rarely get pictures this good when I turn my camera over to someone else.

We took a photo break to have a snack. Any guesses as to what this fruit hanging in my in-law’s backyard is?

Kiwi! And absolutely amazing kiwi, better than any I’ve ever had in the states. I didn’t know kiwi could be grown in places like Poland.

I was in love with this old wheelbarrow. I think they thought I was a little crazy for liking it so much. :)

I wanted to make sure and get some pictures of T1 with his family in Poland, and the light in the living room was nice, so we did a quick round of group/individual portraits with T1. When we go back this year he will be able to stand on that little ledge and pose all by himself!

Look at that ginormous bald baby head! Haha, no wonder he is above the 90th percentile for head size.

Next up? A little bit of time spent in downtown Krakow.

  2. These are cute! I am sure they’ll like their engagement pics - even if it was so close to the wedding. It is just nice to have some pictures that reflect that giddy love in your eyes.

Love T1 and his bald head. Is he still so bald?

I don’t think she is. In fact, she wore some on her wedding day and TH said it was one of the few times he had seen her in makeup!

  7. I love these pictures Jenna. I agree with everyone else your SIL is beautiful. I think the wheel barrow is fun, do you think they liked it after the fact & saw the pictures or still thought it was weird?

  11. They are great, even with the black dot you can still see how happy they are. I love the ones on the grass with the wheelbarrow behind.
And it’s great that you have a picture with TH, great light. It will be fun to see how everyone changed next time you’re there.

  13. Great pics Jenna, I always love to see your photography.
I have a question about the Kiwi. I live in New Zealand, we call them Kiwifruit here but they are much larger, fuzzy and about the size of a lemon. You have to cut them in half and scoop out the flesh with a spoon to eat them. Do you always eat the Kiwi as baby Kiwi like in your pictures or do you eat them when they are big? If you eat them little with their skin on? It’s so interesting how 2 different cultures have such different spins on the same thing : )
    Have a great day!

I’ve actually never had kiwi like that before! Normally they are like the ones you described. When they are little you just kind of squeeze them and they pop out of their skin. So yummy, I want to go back and eat some more!
