Valentine’s Day Photo Booth

Posted by Jenna, Under Holiday

Marissa said she was coming in to town and we agreed to go to dinner. Then I volunteered to run the photo booth at our church valentine’s day dance, and somehow I roped her into playing nanny while I worked. Since she’s a sweetheart, she agreed. I had a lot of fun taking pictures of the families in my ward, but I won’t show them here since I’m not sure they want their photos pasted all over That Wife. :)

One fun thing to notice: look how big my pants already fit in the bum! Soon I’m going to have to go back to the thrift store and get some more. Hooray!

This year I told TH not to buy me any flowers at all (normally he gets me some the day after V-day when they are super cheap) because Sarah’s post opened my eyes about what a waste of money it is. I’m hoping he will save the money and buy me something at the farmer’s market this summer. We’ll see! I kind of want chocolate, but I kind of want to win the Healthy Train even more. I think I’ll just tell him to write me a card that details why he loves me, and I’ll do the same.

I’m writing this post on Sunday evening, and scheduling it for Monday morning, so I don’t yet know the outcome of the France Photography contest. I’ll update this post as soon as I know! Either way, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to all of those who voted and spread the word about the contest. Happy ? Day!

Update: I lost and I am really sad and a little bit shaky after my hopes came crashing down. Now I will have to talk myself out of eating chocolate and watching sad movies to console myself. I can’t do those things though, because I have to win the Healthy Train, and as I know from experience the thing that makes me feel the happiest is to be really productive. The goal today is conquering, not crying!

  1. How fun! We need to schedule our pictures to be taken at church, but it would be nice to have photos like this! Hopefully we would look less awkward than in we all did in high school dance photos.
I love those flowers, did you make them?
    Happy Valentine’s day!

I didn’t make them, the lady in charge of the event did. I think the instructions are on Martha Stewart!

  6. A guy I work with buys his wife flowers every friday and has done so for 30 years. He says most of the time he buys a dozen roses. Very nice thought (and I’d feels so special if I was his wife), but what a waste of money! Your comment about flowers made me think of that!

  8. I’m not a big flowers on V-day type of person, but from now on I’m going to make sure whoever I’m dating/married to knows I’ll only accept local, seasonal flowers from the FM for any flowery gifts throughout the year.

Also, I’m really sad that you didn’t win :( .

  10. Oh Jenna, I’m so sorry you didn’t win. I had really high hopes for you. I know the feeling/anxiety that goes along with wanting and hoping for something so badly and it not working out :( I’m actually waiting to hear from two people that have the power to change my life for the better. So anxious/ excited/ nervous. And wondering why they haven’t contacted me yet?!?!

On a positive note, Happy St Valentine’s Day! I for one looooove getting flowers, for any occasion. Bonus points if they get delivered :)

The boyfriend and I are getting Valentine’s Day burritos after my class ends tonight. I’m pretty excited. I love a good burrito.

  13. That’s too bad that you didn’t win. There’s no shame in crying - you’re disappointed and its best to get it out. On the bright side, you’re looking fantastic! :)

  14. i’m so sad you didn’t win! i voted for you… three times (internet explorer, firefox, chrome). i know that’s dishonest and i’m terribly ashamed and sad that my eternal salvation is shot but i just really really really wanted you to win. i’m not on that healthy train so i’ll eat a couple of feel good cookies for you.

ps- a few days ago i told my husband i’d really like some sort of potted plant for valentines day. i could tell it took him off guard. kinda because i asked for a potted plant, but probably mostly because i asked for anything at all. just so long as he doesn’t spend a bunch of money on all that overpriced valentines stuff then i’ll be just fine!

  16. The background of the picture booth is great. I love the pictures and you definitly look more toned up on it.
I’m sorry you didn’t get what you were hoping for. It’s always so hard when you hope hard for something, imagine how it would be and then it doesn’t happen. That’s harder than knowing it won’t happen.
When I’m stressed or unhappy I find that working ou or running helps, I just burn out my frustration that way.

I am so SHOCKED you did not win the contest! You have so many fans out here in cyberland!! I voted.

Anyway, I hope you find a good mentor and a mentee as well. I am sure there are many young ladies who would like to learn from you!

  18. First, I’m sorry you didn’t win. I was hoping you would! I know it would have been a great opportunity for you!

Second, you look amazing in these photos! Seriously! I think these are some of my favorite photos you’ve posted of yourself lately. (not that the others were bad.. just that you look so great here) You’re glowing, and you can really tell that you’ve worked hard at losing weight & being healthier! Congrats on that! /gushing :)

You guys are all so kind! I really don’t feel like I look any different (actually it’s that time of the month so I feel really bloated!) but these kind of comments help me to feel like all of my hard work is really doing something.

    Thanks!
