Fashionably Modest: Winter Brunching

Posted by Jenna, Under clothing

I went to brunch with some lovely ladies in Chicago a few weeks ago, and this outfit is what I came up with after some digging in my closet. This was before I cut my hair and it’s weird to see myself without bangs now (even though right when I cut them I thought it was so strange to look in the mirror and see myself with them!).

Black coat – “Borrowed” from my sister’s closet and never returned
Purple scarf – Gift from my mom
Black dress-$9.50 (new-with-tags)
Zebra tights from TJMaxx-$6
Boots from Payless, BOGO-$15
Earrings from Payless-$3
Bracelet-Gift from my mom
Necklace-Gift from my MIL

Total Cost of The Items I Purchased: $33.50

I can’t WAIT until I have the money to buy some real, leather boots. My feet smell nasty whenever I take those super cheap Payless ones off. They fit over my super fat calves though, and they’ve lasted for two winters now, so I’m getting my money’s worth!

  1. I buy most of my shoes from Payless as well and I agree with you…if you can get at year’s worth of wear out of them it’s a good purchase. My husband doesn’t understand why I shop there, knowing that I’ll just need new shoes next year. But I walk to work so my shoes get wrecked from all the pavement they meet.

    Also…love that bracelet!

  2. Love the dress! I really want to have more dresses with sleeves - why are they so hard to find?

I have no idea :( :( :( . LDS sites like Down East Outfitters, Shabby Apple, and MikaRose have some options though!

I concur! I don’t like going sleeveless either. I wish designers would get on the wagon and make more options!

Where did you get it from?

It’s thrifted (I forgot to mention that), but it’s originally from Target. Paul&Joe brand or something.

  5. It always amazes me what you come up with from your thrifted items. I typically don’t shop at expensive stores, but your thrifted outfits will always cost less than mine!

By the way, thanks for commenting on my blog this morning. I’m about to head over there to answer your question!
