No More TinyChat
I have been loving TinyChat. It’s like my girl time every week! Last week’s chat with Amanda was full of skips, delays, and freezes though, and it wasn’t very fun for anyone involved and soon after we started attendees started dropping out like crazy. I was hoping that it was just a temporary thing, but I tested things out with Anni and we were having the same problems.
My mom taught me that nothing is worth doing unless it’s done well (I spent hours while growing up cleaning the bathroom mirrors over and over because she wanted to teach me that it’s not really clean until it’s streak free, something I am of course grateful for now!), and so I’m cancelling TinyChat from here on out. I think maybe it’s time for me to seriously look into some vlogs?!!?
If you know of any other sites like TinyChat, please let me know about them. I’d love to test them out and find a replacement so I can resume my virtual girl time each week.
These pictures aren’t in any way related to the post, but I think you need something to look at today. I was taking weight loss progress self-portraits last week and decided to grab T1 for a few as well. These are tough to do (I have to hold him really high, take a LOT to get one where we both look good) and by the end I was sweating a little.
Fellow photographers, I think that I’m having color space issues. I’m exporting directly from Lightroom using the LR/Blog plugin. Anyone know what my problem could be?

Skype has something similar to tiny chat, and I’ve never had a problem with it. It’s a little bit more complicated (requires an account), but might be worth looking in to.

I don’t recall if the mutiple-chat feature has video, but it does allow multiple people to talk and or chat. Not exactly the same, but a similar idea.
Love the photo sequence! Especially the ones where T1 is laughing. Such a cutie!
2I’m sad that we can’t do TinyChat tonight! It was annoyingly skippy, though, and I agree we would have spent the whole time dealing with technical issues. No bueno. I hope someone has a better alternative!

8Sorry to hear you’re not doing TinyChat anymore. I’m really sad I’ve been missing it lately too. We’ve started hanging out we a couple of friends on Wednesday nights regularly. As much as I’ve enjoyed it, I’ve missed TinyChat time.

9BlogTV is a good website that my friend has used to broadcast live solo concerts. Viewers can chat via text or video, depending on the forum. It’s quite fun!
10That’s too bad that the tinychat thing isn’t working properly anymore. Maybe they’ll see this complaint and fix it? haha. We can always hope.
As for the colour space thing, I’m not an expert, but I did learn in my photoshop course that the internet is generally in an sRGB colour space. So if you want to see how your photos will look on your blog make sure you’re exporting them as sRGB instead of Adobe RGB or whatever. Hopefully that kind of helps as I’m not sure if that’s what you wanted answering…
11Can’t help you with the LR thing but did want to say that I saw another blogger mention this the other day. Someone suggested uploading to flickr first instead, but I don’t know if it works.

14I never really used tinychat, the hours didn’t work for me anyway.
15But the pictures are cute, I love the third one where T1 is a bit blurry but having fun and you just look great. The weight loss is showing. I’m just thinking of pictures of you at the fair in Texas last year (Dr Pepper I think) and now. Wow!

19Also, regarding color space, I started using the Photoshop (I use CS5) “save for web” feature, which converts to sRGB, and looks SO much better than when I just batched it through Bridge. Worth the extra work for blogging, for sure.
I never got on the Tiny Chat train so I can’t say I’ll miss it. However, it looks like a lot of others will! I wish I had a viable alternative to suggest.

23I was also going to suggest BlogTV as Cara did above. I don’t think you can do more than one video chatter but it’s similar in every other way and seems to work pretty well.

I couldn’t make the TinyChat sessions often - and when I did, I had real connection/delay issues. It is such a great idea though, so bummed that its off the table for now.
