Boudoir Mini Sessions with Lisa Rice
I get an abnormally large number of questions about boudoir sessions on Formspring. Would I do one myself? What do I think about them? Do I shoot them?
I did do one, before our wedding! I pulled out the book the other day and DANG having a baby really roughed up my body. If I can get down to a teeny-size before I get knocked up again I think I’ll do another.
I think boudoir sessions are empowering and will help you see yourself in a new light. I don’t know if anyone else is like me, but sometimes I wonder what it is about me that TH finds attractive. I look in the mirror and see love handles and pudgy arms and all sorts of imperfections. But when I look at the boudoir album that Kelli Nicole put together for me I feel like I get a little glimpse of what he sees when he tells me I’m beautiful.
I don’t shoot boudoir regularly, but only because I don’t advertise for it so I don’t get inquiries! I’m writing about this because I’m doing a marathon of mini sessions with Lisa Rice. Details here (there is photo of a girl in lacy panties on that page, please consider yourself warned!) We’re doing the sessions in the show room of my apartment building, it’s decorated fabulously and with the amazing light in the apartment I know it’s going to produce some gorgeous photos. I think what we are doing is unique and exciting because we are going to utilize our individual photography skill sets along with different lighting techniques to provide clients with images that are “sweet” and images that are “sassy”. Ahhhh, I would so love to do this, but just don’t feel comfortable with my body quite yet. Thanks to you and your weight loss challenge, I have been motivated to lose the baby weight, but it isn’t boudoir ready yet

Jenna, I hope that if the sessions go well (and I’m sure they will) you and Lisa set this up again. I would LOVE to do this, the price seems very reasonable, and I would definitely make the day trip to Chicago for it! Please let us know if you do it again!

3I did a boudoir session with Tamara Kenyon Photography (she used to be listed in your Fledgling Photogs section) in february.
4I would encourage all women to do this! I am far from my perfect body, but with the right photgrapher…it doesn’t matter. I gave my husband a book of the photos for valentines day, and he was so surprised. It’s totally empowering.
ooh that would be fun! I wish I had the guts(confidence) to do something like that.
