Fashionably Modest: The Outfit I Didn’t Actually Wear Out of the House
I did another round of “try on everything in my closet and get rid of the stuff that is too big, add back in the stuff that finally fits” and I’m celebrating because I officially fit back into every single thing I wore before baby. Hopefully soon even some of those pieces will be too big!
I loved the outfit I came up with two weeks ago. I was walking to campus to meet TH for dinner and I was excited about fitting back into this skirt again. I bought it my freshman year of college from Nordstrom, and the bold print and volume make me feel fun and flirty. I got myself dressed, and took these pictures, got the baby dressed, and we headed out. We made it ten feet out of the building before that darn Chicago wind blew my skirt up and exposed my bum, and I realized that the freezing fog rolling across the street wasn’t going to work with T1′s outfit of a tshirt and shorts. We headed upstairs to change (I kept the shirt and shoes and switched it out for a different shirt, and put the baby in a few layers) and made it to dinner just in time.
Not having air conditioning and living 30 floors up makes it really hard to figure out how to dress for the day. In our apartment it might be 75 degrees due to the sunshine streaming through the window, but we walk out the door and realize it feels like 55 or 60 down below because of the Chicago wind!
If you’re curious about my weight lately, I’ve plateaued due to my lack of running and keep bouncing around between 155-160, which is just a few pounds shy of my pre-conception weight. I’m in a weird place right now, because I’m leaving in a week, to go to Salt Lake City, and then I’ll be living with my parents for around 6 weeks. Until that 6 week span in central Washington comes I’m going to keep focusing on lots of vegetables and not a lot of cheese, but take it easy on the exercise front. Once I’m back in a routine again I’m going to sit down with TH and work out a new plan for the summer that will help me get closer to my goal weight before we leave for Europe. I’m not sure it’s possible for me to hit 135 before we cross the Atlantic, but I think I should be able to get to my wedding weight, which will be an awesome accomplishment!
SUPER cute skirt…even if you didn’t wear it out of the house.
For your clothing pictures, do you set your camera on a timer?

I have a hand held remote, you can see it in my right hand in some of my self portraits. It’s only like $29 and very worth it if you plan to do self portraits!

3I really like this outfit! Also, (as always) you look great! It’s pretty funny that you can see the tan line from your body bug on your arm. Good choice in taking it off! lol

5Love the outfit! I love pulling everything out of my closet, trying everything on, and figuring out what looks good and what doesn’t. Congrats on fitting back into your pre-T1 clothes!
Also, I read somewhere that when we ladies wear skirts, we should wear a boyshort type of undie in case the wind blows our skirt up. I’ve totally been doing that! Especially since one time I went to the restroom in Cabela’s (a hunting type of store like BassPro) and my dress got tucked in my undies! Augh! Luckily, a girl stopped me and told me before I went out of the RR area!

6This is such a cute outfit - I love full, swishy skirts like this but have the same problem with the springtime wind! Your legs look so muscular after all your running - hooray for fitting into pre-baby clothes!!

8Jenna, you are looking SO GOOD lately. I can really, really see the difference, especially in your face. Love the outfit, too (even though the stupid wind kinda ruined the fun of it.)

9You look fabulous, Jenna! You are truly an inspiration! Your hair looks beautiful, too!
BTW, you might want to read over your text…there’s a few confusing parts.

10Love the outfit - simple and lovely! And you really, really are looking GREAT. You should be so incredibly proud of yourself. Unlike me who after starting your challenge has GAINED weight. *hits fist into forehead*
BUT I have started reading In Defense of Food and Food Rules - I’m trying to change the habits I’ve stupidly developed recently and make those little changes again.
My recent weight gain has come from changing good things that I’ve always done and replacing them with unhealhty things for SOME STUPID REASON (case in point: breakfast. I always have to eat breakfast and ususally eat a good, healthy one. Lately, not so much or don’t eat at all which leaves me out of control for lunch. Don’t ask why!)

16I feel like you look a lot happier! You can tell you are more confident.
You guys must save so much money on heat!! I wish we had your problem - we’re on the first floor so we don’t get any residual heat. And it’s still in the 40s so we still have to turn it on occasionally. We don’t have AC either, but after living in dorms in college with no AC in Virginia, Montana is (literally) no sweat without AC.

17Such a cute outfit! I can really tell that you feel pretty and flirty in that skirt. Hope you find the opportunity to wear it eventually. You could just get all snazzed up, full hair and makeup and pretend to be a Real Housewife of Chicago for the day?

18I just can’t get over how healthy you look. More so even than looking thinner (although you definitely do look thinner!), you can just tell that you’re putting good, healthy things into your body and that you’re being physically active. You’re glowing! Gorgeous as always

28You can totally get to 135 by Europe! You’ll have extra baby sitters this summer, so maybe you’ll have more time for exercising. Can you join a gym with a pool, or is there a lake or something for you to swim in?
As far as your injury goes, have you been fit for your sneakers at a specialty running store? They will look at your feet while you run and figure out the best sneaker for your running anatomy. It helped me with a knee injury/ pain in high school and now I always go there for my sneakers
