Fearless Awards Photos

Posted by Jenna, Under Photography

I stumbled across this list of 143 Fearless Award winning photos and my mind is officially blown. Something about these photos simultaneously makes me want to give up (how could I ever match up to this?) and get out and shoot like mad until I can do what these photographers do. I’ll post a few of my favorite, but please go over and click through the whole list. It’s worth it!

CHRISTINA CRAFT- Vancouver, BC

I think I looked at this photo for 5 minutes to try to figure out how it was done. It must be a car reflection, but it’s so masterfully done that at first I thought this bride was projected on the side of a building!

RICH JANNIELLO - New York City

This one really made me tear up a little bit. I need to work to use reflections more often, so many of the winning photographs utilize them in some way.

MARCIN RUSINOWSKI - Poland

I’ll end with a photographer from Poland (being married to a Pole means I get strangely excited when I see things related to his homeland.)

  1. I also saw the list and thought it was amazing!! My wedding photographer has three photos on the list and I was so proud of him because he did such amazing work on our day!

  2. What awesome photos!

  3. Love the last one-I imagine there was some photoshopping involved to get that amazing texture on the veil?

  4. I love that so many are not necessarily posed but at least appear to be naturally occurring moments. I think that must be the hardest part for a photographer, to capture or create and capture special moments without things looking fake. Mostly skill but part luck too I guess?

Sometimes I think I have to be awesome photojournalism, and that means I can’t really do posed stuff and be “cool” or vice versa (probably doesn’t make much sense) but I love that this site reminds me that I can do either or if I want.
