Haircuts in a Small Town

Posted by Jenna, Under Personal

Last week I went in for a trim (Olivia Christensen cut it and I loved her split end technique, if you happen to be in the area and would like to go see her :) ), and I thought it would be a nice chance to show you how crazy small the town I grew up in is.

The view to the west right outside my parent’s door.

The hair salon is just about smack dab in the middle of time. It’s housed in a place that used to be a video rental store. There really isn’t any rush to change the signage because everyone in town knows about the switch already.

If I look to the right, I see one half of the street that makes up Royal City.

If I look to the left I see the other half. And that’s about all there is here.

As you might have guessed, the salon itself is very small. Here is where she washed my hair.

And here is where she cut it. That’s it!

I didn’t do anything drastic, my hair is still nice and long, I just wanted her to take the dead ends off so I could brush through it easier.

Now do you believe me when I say I’m from a really small town?

  1. I think your dad’s fields are bigger than the town itself :)
Was there a high school there or is it in a nearby city? Growing up we had to take the bus to high school, it was 1h away.

There is a high school with about 300 kids or so. I loved going to a school where you knew everyone’s names. I’m also glad we didn’t have to go an hour away to get there!

I grew up in a small farm town too. No one ever believes me when I tell them that I graduated with 28 people in my class!

Loving that last photo of you. Gorgeous!

Fun! Are we very different ages or are you new to the area? I just feel like I know everyone in Royal :)

I’m going to do a little post with pictures of Summerfest, maybe you will spot yourself! You should have said hi, we could have taken a picture together. I hope you didn’t see me making a fool of myself singing Total Eclipse of The Heart on the karaoke stage. Ha!

I have lived here my entire life. I was in the class of 98. I remember your mom subsituted at the high school office once and we had a GREAT conversation about Clay Walker! LOL Funny the things I remember! Your parents live about 2 miles from my mom. Gotta love small towns! I didn’t see you singing but you were taking pictures! Shocking, huh?! We were the ones with the pumpkin cannon at the parade.

  8. My husband’s cousin’s wife Karina grew up in Royal City. I don’t know her maiden name. My husband served in Moses Lake/Royal during his mission back in 1982 or so.
