I started a club. It’s an in-person club, so right now it’s only for people in Chicago. Next year I will move to Dallas and it will be in Texas. If you’re in the area would you like to be a part of it? This club was inspired by a post over at Word of Wisdom Living blog (best blog ever you guys, I hope you’re reading!).
Find out more here.
I’m looking for help with the building of the FAQ section, so if there are areas that are unclear to you I’d love to have you point them out. And I need some fellow instructors because I most certainly don’t know enough to teach this all on my own every month!
There have been suggestions on Twitter that I should try to make this a virtual thing via webcasting or something, but I’m not quite ready for that yet. For now I’d like to make sure that the club is sustainable and there is enough in-person interest.

I’m actually starting a Dinner Club when we move into our new apartment in December (more room).
The idea came from a cooking magazine. The premise is that we need to expand our communities. We can do this by inviting people over for dinner that we normally wouldn’t and then they bring someone.
Maybe you want to invite your butcher or hair stylist or the the business owner of the local bakery you always go to. Then they invite one person.
The menu is always local and seasonal and something people wouldn’t normally have or put a twist on the usual suspects.
Then the next month you invite some of the regulars (maybe from the last months dinner) and a few new people.
I’m really excited about it. There’s nothing better than eating with good company.

I always love having couples over, it’s such a nice way to connect. If only I didn’t turn it into such a big production every time! We don’t do it as often as we should because I get so exhausted afterward. (Totally my own fault)

Oh my gracious! You’ll be in Dallas next year and I’m moving to Houston, I think I’ll definitely have to make the drive if you’re still doing it!

I might add something about do you have to be Mormon to participate? I might not go because its at LDS building unless it explicitly said that all religions/non-religions are present.

I wondered if I should add this in, and now I definitely will. No, it’s not a religious thing at all, we just needed the large free space to meet in

I live in fort worth, so depending on how life is going {I’m pregnant & not sure which stage of being overwhelmed I will be at when y’all move back here}, I am very interested in being involved!

When you get back to Dallas, I am very interested! I’m still bummed about missing your Christmas party last year.

So - questions:
Do I have to be LDS to participate?
What constitutes a full meal? Does it require a protein, vegetables, and a starch?
Do I have to bring my own pots, pans, and other cooking materials?
Should I print out copies of my recipe to share with participants so they can follow along?
I would like to instruct on a crockpot recipe. Is this possible? [Perhaps by making the dish ahead of time, and showing the prep steps?]
Can I instruct on the basics of preparing a single food item, or does it have to be a full meal? e.g. show people all the wonderful things they can do with fennel/eggplant/chard/peppers or how to make bread or pasta.
Will participants be asked to prepare food?
I don’t even know how to boil water - am I still allowed to come?
My favorite recipe is really complex and takes several hours, but I would love to teach it. Do you have any suggestions for how to do this?
Do I need to provide all of my own ingredients, including things like oil, salt, and pepper?
Can I bring my children?
Can my children be instructors?
