Power of Moms Chicago Retreat
On Tuesday the 25th of October I’ll be taking a little me time. Not in the form of a GNO or pedicure or trip to visit cupcakes (although I wouldn’t turn any of those down if That Husband wanted to take on the task of watching the baby) but a half day retreat held by The Power of Moms in the town of Wilmette north of Chicago. My friend from Church emailed all the women in our congregation about going with her a week ago, but my advertising hasn’t taken off like I had hoped so I still don’t have a supply of “fun money” for things like this.
Turns out I have another friend who is on the Board for The Power of Moms , and she tipped them off about my blog. They contacted me with an offer to attend the retreat in exchange for two blog posts about it. This is the first, and the second will be a review with pictures depicting my experience and my opinion regarding whether it’s worth your time and money.
The retreat is called Nurturing the “Me” in the “Mom” and it’s aimed at women like me. You know, attempting to raise children, turn hobbies into profits, with schedules so packed full and to-do lists so long that they sometimes burst into tears at random points during the day because there is no way they can get it all done. This happens to other people right? Or is it just me? My friend, with a husband in business school while working full time, a 4-year old, an 18-month old, and a baby due early next year, teaches Hypnobabies classes, and makes and sells baby wraps raves about these classes. I admit I am always amazed at how she manages to get everything done and I’m hoping that somehow this retreat will give me the solutions I need to make everything work.
If you’d like to learn more about the Chicago retreat and attend with me and my friend Paige, click here. They also have several other upcoming retreats, including one in St. George and one in New England.
This retreat sounds awesome! You absolutely deserve “me” time when and where you can find it, and this seems like an excellent use of your time
You deserve it!

1This sounds like a great experience! I can see myself attending after the baby arrives. I already feel like there isn’t enough time in the day. Can’t wait to read about your experience!

3I’ve given up on believing I can do it all. I’m working on not comparing myself to people that seem to get more from their weeks than I do, because from the outside looking in, it’s hard to see what they’re sacrificing in the process. I don’t know your friend with 2.5 kids who teaches classes and has a working studying husband… But who knows if he’s feeling self-pressure that he’s not getting enough out of b-school because he’s trying to get home to his kids? Or he’s trying to get back to the office? and she may be doing a dozen activities, but are they going to church? Are her kids eating food that I would want to serve? Etc etc
I’m curious if the session will be about time management tools or if it will be more along the lines of values-based prioritization of your day. Looking forward to reading about your experience!
